I've stepped down as Clan Chat Manager. The rest of my ranks are soon to follow, and I will adorn the noble Village Elder title.

A year or two ago, this post would have been some long narrative about the time I've spent here, the things I've done, and how much I've enjoyed it all. It would have been filled with uplifting sentiments and optimism abound. Sadly, that is not what this post will be. Truth be told, I have nothing optimistic to say about RuneVillage anymore. This isn't entirely the shortcoming of our humble home though, don't get me wrong - RuneVillage is facing tough times, but there is hope left for it and some very talented, caring users around to help give RV an honest shot at survival. No, this is not some doomsay for hiker's kingdom. This is simply the towel in the air from a young man who has spent far too much time and effort focusing on some website that bares no fruit for his survival.

I do not regret my work here. RuneVillage has been the blank canvas for my artistic skills to develop. It has been the lined paper with which I've improved my literary abilities. It has been the outlet for my sorrows and the megaphone to broadcast my occassional fortunes. I have learned many things and established a great deal of S.Links; Some reversed, some maxed, and some I kind of forgot about until it was too late and they're stuck at rank 4 until I reach New Game+ which I can't play because THE FREAKING DISK IS SCRATCHED.

But I digress.

Simply said, I've forgotten what it's like to enjoy this place because I've begun to resent it. I don't want to hate this place or the people that reside here. If my contributions come at the price of adding to a negative atmosphere, then there's more value in me stepping down from my responsibilities and just enjoying the community - Both for myself, and RuneVillage as a whole.

I applaud my fellow staff members for the work they have done and continue to do for this site. But at the end of the day, we all need to remember that this place is supposed to be, above all else, enjoyable. I think that's something that some of our major contributors have either forgotten, or choose to ignore out of their own responsibilities. But if we continue to build this place while silenty resenting it... Well, that's just a very sad thing for us.

(Needless to say, I'm not going anywhere. YOU PEOPLE ARE STUCK WITH ME UNTIL HIKER STOPS PAYING THE HOSTING FEES THE INTERNET APACOLYPSE COMES.)

I'll mail you my Persona 3 disc if you really wanna play it.

You have been a wonderful individual to serve under, and it's unfortunate that you have that attitude towards RV, but I understand it. Thanks for doing so much work and helping out with all of... just about everything.

At the very least, we still have "Krillin'" memories. Thanks again.

I know exactly how you feel, youre making the right decision. I have enjoyed RV infinitely more since retiring. If you are starting to resent your duties, its time to step aside and let someone else give it a shot.

Nah I pretty much sucked as Clan Chat Manager I'm the one who's most at fault for the Clan Chat's current "trolling epedimic", I have to admit - I myself let more than a few things slide, mainly because there's nothing more I dislike than scolding friends, and I consider most, if not all, users of the Clan Chat as friends. I think that's the main problem all of the moderators have been having, and why things have become progressively more lax without us really realizing it. But ultimately it's my fault, as being a leader means being the one to redirect things when they begin to stray off-course.

As of now, hiker will be taking control of the Clan Chat, and I'm unsure of where things will go from there. But I hope you guys continue to stick around, and try to work on getting the Clan Chat straightened out a bit. All you mods are awesome, really, but if you're going to continue moderating then you need to learn to seperate friendships from moderating duties (I'm telling this to myself as well, and it's partly why I'm stepping down - I'm tired of having to make those calls).

Also it's taken to my third post to be serious, but I'd just like to say that whilst we've had our ups and downs, I've always considered you a bro. You've definetly had an impact on how I approach things on RV now as some people have probably noticed. You were a good Chat Leader, no matter what you say. You oversaw the biggest overhaul to the position imaginable.

Thanks for everything you've done for RV, Goten. Not just content or artistic-wise, but you've also been a good friend to a lot of people here. I don't think it's possible for people to not like you, you just have that kind of personality.

Resignations are always sad, but in a way I'm happy that you've decided to resign and just relax and enjoy RV for what it is to you. You've definitely earned it.

Man, you're obviously forgetting how bad it was when I "ran" it. You took it over for a reason, and I think you succeeded at doing what you set out to do, and I thank you for that.

I'm not quite sure what to write here. It's not actually that I don't know what to say, but rather that I don't know what order to put it all down in. A lot of it doesn't even need to be said, because you're not going anywhere, which I am oh my goodness so tremendously glad for. Seriously I don't care if I have your Facebook and phone number (wait yes I do, I totally do) but seeing you leave RV itself would be a sad day indeed.

I don't think a single person that actually knows you would ever say anything to dampen the claim of what you've done for RuneVillage. Displays of your artistic talents are spread everywhere around this site, from your name in the footer of every single page, to your dozens of topics spread throughout General Pictures that everyone loves to view, to all of your Pub Humor and Default comics and more you did for the Villager.

I honestly think that if your living situation didn't cause you to randomly vanish for months at a time, you would have probably been an administrator, and quite a better one than I. You're never afraid to say exactly what needs to be said and how you feel and explain everything out (we need a lot of that) but you're almost always more eloquent at it than I. And before you start trying to make a rebuttal (STOP IT) chew on this: When I used to find a post that needed moderating that wasn't clear-cut, and it was anywhere remotely late and I was about to go to bed, I'd mention it to you, and get up the next day to see how you handled it, practically taking notes on the best way to gracefully diffuse bad situations. I learned stuff simply because of how diplomatic you can be. SAD BUT TRUE.

Anyway, I'm glad you don't regret what you've done for RV, either, because it's been a heck of a lot, and we all appreciate it, for sure. I hope your time away from moderating the Forums and managing the Clan Chat allows you to pursue other worthwhile activities in your life; that's certainly been true for me.

I don't care if this is unrelated because "This is not a leaving topic", but above all, you're one of the best friends I could ever ask for. If we became friends because I made this picture in 2007, then gosh darnit that's probably the most important picture I've ever made in my life. <3

Well I guess it's not as bad as it used to be, things are a bit more organized now at least, but I'm in your shoes now - I'm too inactive to be able to manage it properly, and it shows.


I could never leave RuneVillage, that's for sure. This place means more to me than most anything else I have in my life, which may sound a bit sad, but it's true. Whenever something was wrong in life, be it a bad breakup, stressing about family issues, losing a home, losing another home, losing another home again, etc - RuneVillage was always here with great friends and great fun to keep my spirits lifted. That's something that can't be replaced, and something I can't abandon.
