What the hell has Tabitha gotten us into? We shouldn't be here, we're getting shot at!

The man aims his fingers at Nick.

Great...this is the last place I want to show off my secret...but I don't really have a choice now, do I?

As the man's finger came down like the hammer of the gun Nick teleported behind the man and kicked him in the back of the knees, then teleported away again.

OOC: Nick's power is a little different take on teleportation that I've been thinking of. Instead of just teleporting, Nick is actually moving so fast that to the naked eye, he's teleporting from place to place. To Nick, once he starts moving this fast, it's as if time slows down, so everything to him will be in slow motion. So if I say teleport, know that it's not quite what everyone thinks of, it's just he's moving at a high rate of speed that gives the effect of teleporting.

BIC: Nick was now next to Tabitha when he looked at her and said, "Hell of a situation you got us into, Tabs."

Charlie was sitting in his favorite park. Oh, how nature calmed him. A shadow passed in front of the sun, and he looked up. Hopefully its not a cloud. Clouds can mean rain. A figure dropped out of the sky, a little ways away. What the heck? A man with powers, eh? Guess I'll just watch. Suddenly, Stephanie runs ran up nearby, and a group of other kids that he recognized from school arrived as well. He heard Stephanie tell the group to help her. Then a fight began. There goes my peaceful morning. Might as well try to help out. He took out a bag of sand that he had picked up earlier, to practice with tonight. He pulls out a handful, and heats hit in his hand, then he cools it. He slowly walked toward the fight, and when he could get a good shot he threw the chunk of glass, heating it for a second as it left his hand. In midair, it split, sending two shards of glass flying towards the figure.

OOC: Awesome, Tanks. I've written quite a bit about that exact kind of thing before but I'm pretty sure they were in posts from several years ago, hehe.

BIC:

No sooner had Quinn caught up to Tabitha and Nick (who easily passed him by) than the figure they were watching emerged from the nearby tree-line, and shot a bullet at the group, narrowly missing them. N-no, not a bullet--a rock-- Tabitha wrenched a street sign out of the ground and deflected another one. I guess that's going to let the cat out of the bag, Quinn figured, half-glancing Stephanie's way, who seemed to be concentrating on something. The figure aimed at Nick, next, who completely vanished, flashed nearby the figure, and reappeared next to Tabitha. --the HELL? Is EVERYO-- Before he could finish gawking, the figure pointed his hand at Quinn.

Fear seized him as everything suddenly seemed exactly like just yesterday, when Quinn had been robbed at gunpoint. Somehow, he wasted no time in diving out of the way before the rock-bullet fired at him, and he scrambled behind the nearest tree, his heart pounding. I...I... He tried to steady his breathing so that he wouldn't freak out. ...I-I'm worthless, aren't I? Stephanie's doing something, Tabitha probably can't even die, and apparently Nick can teleport. This must be what it feels like to be the innocent bystander getting saved by the superhero. Funny, I thought it'd feel more relieving than this. He stood up and peeked back around the tree to get a glimpse of them fighting. Instead it just feels like I'm in the way. ...I sort of envy them, actually; it must be so amazing to have an ability like that. ...What the hell Nick can seriously teleport.

Quinn could tell that everyone was determined to stop this guy, whoever he was. Stephanie was concentrating, Tabitha and Nick were...blocking, or something, but still everyone had the same goal. Yet all of them were fearless, with just sheer will driving them forward. It was so obvious that you could practically sense it without seeing it on their faces. Quinn glanced around with the vague feeling that Nick had teleported behind him, and did a double-take when he saw that someone was actually approaching from behind, which he hadn't noticed. The kid promptly chucked a giant shard of glass into the air, which split in mid-air, both shards heading for the figure.

The figure fell to his knees and was hit in the shoulder by one of the shards. Tabitha ran ahead swinging the metal sign pole over her head at it. A cloud of dirt and rocks rise up in a field around him and bursts outward.

Tabitha grunts as she is blinded by the cloud, barely missing her target. She runs back barely able to see badly scratched from debris. "Any time I get close, he forces my hits away. It's like a reversed magnet."

Stephanie quickly flashes bright like molten hot metal and charges in. The shots of rock and dirt by the strange figure hitting her and burning away. She takes swings at him hitting him multiple times with little effect, the punches simply flaring up in flame and disappearing. A wave of energy shoots off and knocks her back. As it begins to rise up into the air again she says "Keep him down we can't let him escape."

When Nick heard Stephanie say that, he teleported towards him and grabbed the figure by his legs and flipped him forward onto his face. He kicked him a few times while he was down and teleported to a tree next to Quinn.

"Anything you got to help us out?"

OOC: Considering Tabitha hit a rock with a parking sign, I guess it's pretty noisy.

IC: Jack made it home without much of a hassle, and after a long, long argument with his parents in which they scolded him for lying about his whereabouts, decided he would make it an early night. As he woke up the following morning, Jack noticed it was rather early. Realizing it was probably due to the fact he went to bed really early, he went to take a refreshing shower. After going downstairs, he got himself got a bowl, and some cereal. Then when he realized it wasn't Friday anymore, he finished up his bowl of cereal and went to watch some TV.

"Huh, a truck exploded?" Jack commented as the news came on. "Wait, that was here, in Persimmon street?! But why couldn't I- oh." It turned out the incident happened quite a while after Jack left the scene of the stripped-down house to go back home. "But why is it that so many strange things happen around just that area?"he thought out aloud. Deciding he wanted to take another look, Jack scribbled down a note to his parents saying "Buying a game at the store, have my phone with me." and took his wallet with him in case he decided to actually get said game. Just as he was about to go to the garage to get his bike, he went back to his room and stuffed his Swiss army knife in his pocket, just in case.

After a while of biking, he suddenly heard a loud "CLANK!". Making a turn, Jack went into the direction from which he heard the noise, until he arrived at a park where some kids from his school were, one of them holding a parking sign, as well as a flying man. Placing his bike next to a nearby tree (still fairly far away from the fight) and locking it, he ran towards the group. "What the hell is going on here?!" Jack yelled at them.

Quinn looked at Nick and shook his head, almost ashamed to be...normal. "No...I don't have any sort of powers at all. ...Sorry..." He glances back at the scene, seeing the dust cloud starting to dissipate. I wish I could do something to help. ...Without getting mortally wounded, he thought, wondering if Tabitha had any sort of self-preservation instinct left, already having been murdered once. Quinn turned his head in confusion and saw another school-age student locking a bicycle to a tree and calling out while dashing over towards the group.

[it would seem at the moment most of the town's authority are all tied up dealing with the explosion to look into the stuff going on at the Northtown Park so don't worry about that for now.]

Tabitha had cleared here eyes enough to see Jack coming. "Stay out of here. This thing blew up the tanker in town." How many more are going to show up?

The mysterious figure sets off an explosion below itself sending it flying into the pond at the center of the park. The water swirls in the center as it rises to the surface holding both its hands back holding a highly compressed ball of water.

"Crap! everyone run!" Stephanie calls out bolting off.

Tabitha threw the sign like a javelin toward it and scrambled to get away to some larger trees.

Shortly after It launches the ball like a missile into the ground in front of them. The pressurized ball exploding when it hits the ground. By the time the steam clears, the figure has a sphere of water around it as it ascends into the sky gradually.

Nick sees the ball of water, and hears Tabitha's warning. He grabs Quinn and pulls him onto his back in a rushed piggy-back ride. He knew Quinn probably wouldn't be able to outrun the thing and teleports about a hundred yards from where they just were standing.

"That was close. Are you ok?"

OOC: I hope that's ok, Jaron. I thought it might be kind of a cool addition to have someone experience the speed at which Nick is running, and since your character is 'normal,' I figured he might be the best one. If it's not ok, just let me know and I can change it.

Quinn needs to be around people who make can decisions anyway.

BIC:

From his hidden vantage point behind the tree, Quinn didn't see the figure plunge into the pond or the compressed ball of water--but he still knew something was about to go drastically wrong. As he craned his neck around the tree trunk to get a glimpse of what he should be preparing for, he heard Stephanie cry out for everyone to get away, and before he knew it, Nick had hoisted Quinn onto his back and was dashing away from the tree. Quinn was going to exclaim that they were leaving their cover and were going to be an open target, but suddenly all he could think about was getting to safety. It only took a moment more for him to realize that everyone else seemed to have frozen. Both of Stephanie's feet were off the ground as she was floating in mid-air, seemingly in mid-stride. Nick doesn't...teleport! He just runs ungodly fast! Which could possibly be a lot more awesome then disappearing and reappearing. And wow, he can do it to other people too, Quinn thought, realizing that they were both in this together. Probably because he's holding onto me. Ahaha, like Clockstoppers!

Nick was such a fast runner that it was all over before he knew it, and their return to time's normal speed was punctuated by the water ball explosion nearly a football field's length away. "Y-yeah, I'm fine," Quinn stammered, unable to get over his amazement. "That was incredible; thank you so much," he added, looking back and seeing that the area they had been standing in had been hit hard, covered currently in a dense cloud of steam. "Hehe, no wonder you're on the track team," he said, only realizing afterward what he was accidentally implying. "...Oh jeez wait that didn't come out the way I meant it!"

Nick smiled at the comment, "Yeah, well, you gotta play to your strengths!"

Nick then realized that this was the first time he had ever had someone go along with him.

"I'm actually really surprised I could take anyone with me, I wasn't sure it would work. That was the first time I've ever teleported with someone else. Pretty cool, huh?"

"Chyeah, pretty incredible. Glad it worked." Quinn looked back at the figure as the steam cloud had nearly cleared. "...I...should probably get out of the way so you can get back to concentrating on the fight..."

Stephanie had by this point cooled off. Her sleeves had burned off during the fight. "Damn... it got away again."

"It let us go. What ever that is, it was more powerful than we could stop." Tabitha interrupted. "If we had kept it here, who knows what would have happened."

"You just weren't trying hard enough! If we caught it, it would answer everything I'm sure!" Stephanie clenched her fist. She was soon after joined by Joseph her large Latino friend gesturing to her. She shook her head in disappointment.
"This is the first time you all have seen it, but Joseph and I and some others have been trying to stop this thing a while now. We're pretty sure it's not human from the damage it can take. But we don't know who sent it or why."

Nick had so many questions, but he was pretty sure that Stephanie couldn't answer a vast majority of them.

"Not human..." Quinn mumbled to himself, wondering if the mysterious being's powers were organic like Nick's and Stephanie's or if perhaps it was a robot or something. Or what if Nick and Stephanie are robots just like Tabitha? Since they all have their abilities in common and whatnot. ...Meh, that's way too farfetched.

"So...what kind of power was it using?" Quinn asked. "Because from my vantage point, everything he did seemed to be based on some form of telekinesis. He fired rock bullets just by pointing his fingers, and I saw the water bomb when we were...uh...fleeing from it. He could also fly away by moving either himself or maybe something he's attached to or by pushing away the air around him or something. Along with holding that water in place as he left...I mean, it's just a guess of course, but there seemed to be a common theme there."

Tabitha walked around the area the ball hit with debris scattered around. She came across the glass shards Charlie threw with a metalic piece stuck on the end. Examining it she says "It really is not human after all. Or at least, this part is not." She showed the part to everyone which had the black metallic ceramic exterior bit of the armor plating as as well as some electronic components like wires and circuit board pieces. "Well what ever it was, it is gone now... This really is little to go on too. It seemed to fight harder the more we threw at it."

In the distance sirens started drawing closer along the highway. Stephanie interrupts "We should get out of here.. don't want to end up like Erin. Just take the back roads and we should be fine." She says walking southwest.

key: gray is a pipe about 3 feet wide over the creek
light green is wet mushy ground, dark green is more solid. the opposite bank is fairly steep

The orange area is the goal we need to reach in a rather short period before 'the cops' get to the park.

Three kids from the school stood in the way. They were dressed up with the token spiked dog collars, dirty jackets and as much black as unreasonably possible. The center one holding a cat-tail weed which seemed to be unnaturally shiny and says "Cops comin... we'll let you pass for 20 bucks each.. or maybe we'll turn you in ourselves." The other two were holding lengths of pipe each also probably having pocket knives.

"Are you kidding me.. " Stephanie blurts out

Tabitha looks on quietly looking over them noting the cat-tail. "And what... get yourselves shot up too.. you are just like us right? Unless cat tails just naturally grow glimmering and hard as a rock."

"Whatever.. we're just bored anyway lookin for a fight. Saw the whole thing with the monster."
As soon as he said this the other two charged ahead. Their pipes had an odd glow by being imbued with electrical energy which occasionally arcs along the pipe.

We have no time for this. We have to down them and get out of here before the authorities get here. Tabitha thought trying to analyze the situation.

Nick swore to himself when the two charged. He immediately teleported in front of the two charging, and tied their shoelaces together, and teleported a few feet to the side of them.

As they tripped, he yelled to their leader, "Let us go, or we're all going to be killed! How stupid are you guys?"

As they walked towards the creek, Quinn didn't even have to see the trio ahead of them to know they meant business. It was weird; even though they were talking tough and all high and mighty, Quinn got the feeling that the leader knew he was in over his head. After what they had done to the figure in the park, after all, these goons probably wouldn't even slow Tabitha down. Or Nick for that matter. Ha, like *anyone* could slow him down.

Right as Quinn thought the two were about to charge, they did. And a split second later, after Nick vanished and reappeared in a different spot, both of them collapsed to the ground in confusion, their shoelaces having been tied together. Bet their leader is having second thoughts now, Quinn figured. He winced and lowered his head a little; it felt like it had started throbbing on all sides. Dang it, my headache from Monday is coming back...nice timing...
