I'm probably going to get a second-hand computer shortly. It's nothing special, but it's much better than the laptop I've been using for several years now. However, I'm a Mac guy, through and through. I'm willing to stomach Windows 7, but I'd much prefer a Mac OSX (likely X.5). I know that Apple computers can run Windows through Bootcamp partitions ever since Apple switched to Intel processors; can the same be done in reverse? The new computer will be coming with a clean hard drive, so I don't have to worry about uninstalling anything. Can it be done, and, if so, how much trouble would it be?

I don't think there's a legal way to do it.

Apple suck like that.

Why don't you just get a Macbook, the new models have slightly lower price than previous models.

Still much more expensive than a PC.

If you can buy the OS seperately (not sure if you can). Why wouldn't it be legal?

Because of Apple's Terms and Conditions.

Yep.

As far as I'm aware, Hackintosh works pretty well. There's also a program called "Fusion" (I think), but I'm not too familiar on what it does... I think it lets you run both operating systems, but again I don't know.

Has to be run on specific intel-based hardware. I don't think any AMD hardware makes it into Apple's computers?

Anyway, yeah, your best bet is looking on hackintosh.com -- They've got it all.

I'm not sure how virtual OS setups work with Mac, but I have no real interest in the subject for anything other than the iPhone devkit, so meh. :3

But that also kinda defeats the purpose, because then you're spending a boatload of money just to run Windows. :-s

Crapple only allow their operating systems to be used with their hardware. There's no legal way to use it otherwise.

I like apple, but at the same time I hate how controlling they are... I can't stand a company that makes you feel like you are only renting a product you own.

They are still insanely expensive. If apple would price their producs more reasonably they'd wipe out microsoft within a few years, especially after WIndows 8.

The cheapest mac is $1000, while I could get a high performance laptop (PC) for ~$600-$700. I could get a desktop equivelent or greater in performance than the base Mac pro for 70 to 80% cheaper. I would like to switch to mac, and I bet I know about 6 macs worth of people who would, but the price is a dealbreaker.

I'm considering custom building a nice desktop PC and running Ubuntu Linux. Ubuntu is really a nice OS, although not being able to run some Windows software makes it hard.
