They may as well do their own adventure then.

The new topic button beckons, people.

Same. I know there are plenty of good artists at RV, but I like Jaron's drawing style - it's sort of become a huge part of TAoJ. I'm willing to wait for as long as we need to. :awesome:

Aw, thanks, I appreciate that! :)

No one would take over in full. :P If someone wishes to do their own adventure, nothing's stopping them (Topsummoner started one, after all!) But Jimmy itself started as an idea of mine many years ago and I'd desire it to remain that way.

Meanwhile...

I actually had to check whether that was real or not

It's awesome regardless, of course

Hehe, nah. I make them sometimes (that's my seventh.) To be honest I wasn't very pleased with how it turned out, but since my only train of thought was "I want T-Rex yelling 'TRENT! NOOOO!' at the end", I guess it was okay for thinking it up as I went. OH WELL.

~~~
In other slightly irrelevant news (to most of us), I went back and found that, to my dismay, 5 of the 14 Flash Animations (including a couple of important ones) were broken. I've fixed all of these, and they shall plague us no longer.
[Crow] ENOUGH! I'm going to put a stop to your meddling once and for all!
(VIEW FLASH ANIMATION) (requires sound)
Then open spoiler tag:
I think only five or six people are going to get that reference, but I hope the ones that do feel it was as fitting an end as I do.
Unfortunately, yes, The Adventures of Jimmy has come to an untimely end. :( A little over five months ago I told hiker I would try to continue it, but six months and zero updates later, that obviously turned out to not be the case. (Also, you can't successfully come back from a six-month hiatus with something like this; it just doesn't happen.)
The Adventures of Jimmy has brought me a lot of things I'm immensely proud of and happy for, like the chance to play this awesome game with you all for about a year and a half, fifteen Flash animations I can look back on at any time and smile, and this pretty neat thing on my wall my mom made for me last year. By the way, if you ever wish to look back on any of the Flash animations, you will find all of them on this page.
Jimmy didn't decline because I lost interest in it, but rather, because I gained interest in too many other things at the same time. :P Turns out I couldn't produce updates at any speed that I found acceptable while juggling it with my job, learning a foreign language, learning other programming languages, getting like a bajillion PS3 platinum trophies, writing the beginning parts of Prism, etc. Furthermore, despite my obvious inability to draw, I'm kinda sorta considering starting a webcomic for the fun of it (although obviously I would be planning a more reliable schedule, as that's something I would not care to ever ever violate. That's a slippery slope, it turns out!)
I figure there may or may not be questions regarding Jimmy, but if you ever wanted to know anything about the storyline or its production or any facets of anything at all, go ahead and post, and I'll try my best to answer everything. :)
Thank you so, so much to everyone that enjoyed The Adventures of Jimmy along with me. I owe you all a great deal. :mrgreen:
Jaron
So like, what did you have in mind for Jimmy?
What did you have planned for the doors/encounters/development for Jimmy as he leveled up?
I <3 you for that ending. I was loling within the first second, and had to restart it to catch the text. It's a real shame that this is all over, but that is an awesome way to end it.
I hope you enjoyed this as much as we did. This is easily one of the most unique projects at RV, and certainly an example of what makes RV special to us among other sites in general. Artists are always going to be critical of their own work, but I hope you realize I'm not exaggerating and I really do think this project is a special piece of our community.
Is that why it's going to get nominated for being added to the Village Archives, Jack? LIKE NOW, IF YOU DON'T MIND? <3
I most certainly did enjoy it to death. :) And I'll agree with you in that I think Jimmy ended up being my own special piece of RV (though really, I need to learn to draw! 8-[)
It was really cool doing it all. Looking back on it, if I ignore the most recent 6-month gap but include all of the OTHER gaps, from April 19th, 2009 to September 15th, 2010, I made 508 images, 15 of which were actually Flash Animations. In 514 days. That's extremely close to one image per day for the entire run of Jimmy. (It's not the 5-7 per day average Andrew Hussie gets, but one per day for the entire run is still way more than I expected!)
Actually, hate to be a stick in the mud, but I'd prefer if it stayed here. I know a few people that aren't members of the Village (no matter how much I try) that probably wouldn't find it back if it moved. Besides, the Village Archive was made because we were deleting old topics at the time. Since that doesn't happen anymore, I don't really see much of a reason to deprive the Literary Society of one of its most active topics ever. :) I appreciate the sentiment, though.
Line 1, 3, 5, 10, and 11 are word-for-word from the real song. :P Lines 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9 were changed to protect the innocent to keep it relevant. So I managed to preserve about half of it, actually! :awesome:
I tried to have an overreaching plot while planning as little as possible because things kept changing purely based on user responses. Like, steal the letters from the Development door to make a nametag and be sneaky? Genius. But then what's beyond the Developer-only door? ...Dunno. :oops: I'll browse my archives and let loose a whole bunch of trivia for you guys.
  • Behind the "Accessible only to the Administration" panel in the elevator was either a button that took you to the roof or a button that took you to the basement. If it was the former, Jimmy probably would have met the character on the far right in my recent animation. (Has anyone figured out what it is?) If it was the latter, I probably would've turned the basement into a giant Final Fantasy 8 reference.
  • The Green Apex Keycard was in Hax's Managerial Locker, which Jimmy had the key for. It was a unique keycard in that there was actually a button on it, which, when pressed, made a door pop out of thin around and attach to the nearest surface. The green door on Floor 13, therefore, was actually a system not unlike Portal. The plan for the current puzzle was for Jimmy to press the button near the hole in the wall on Resandeve, which would make a door appear on the other side of the hole, then go back through the yellow door to Floor 13, then through the green door to access that super-secret area.
  • Resandeve's name actually came from it's entire purpose for existence: Research and Development.
  • At the end of the Resandeve arc, Guitierrez would've found a way to use Jaitia in microchips. Although Jeffrey from Resandeve was told that using Jaitia in microchips would allow them to reach insane computing speeds, it would do nothing of the sort. (Remember the Act II intro? "Not even those on the project know that they are helping us to take over the world!") Instead, Jaitia reacted with a certain amount of electricity, hence all the resistors/converters in Buram Castle to turn the pure 1.21 gigawatts of lightning into whatever exact amount was needed to make the Jaitia react. When it did, it basically had the same effect as a Subspace Bomb in The Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Using Jaitia in microchips would allow Guitierrez to warp thousands of homes into this "subspace" all at once, and for some reason that I don't think I ever pinned down, this would help him take over the world.
  • This means that yep, Trent's alive and well, just in a floating castle in the middle of nowhere. Jimmy probably might've realized this the first time he noticed their Magic bars were still synched. By the time they found each other again, Trent would've discovered the secret basement of Buram Castle that was accessible only from Buram Village's well. (But since the subspace cut off the rest of the well, all of the water flowed out, revealing a tunnel, the second half of which Jimmy took back to the village.)
  • Although it wouldn't have been revealed until the Lucerne Tower arc, Jaitia is pronounced "Jay-sha", which sounds extremely similar to "spatial", because it had spatial-warping properties.
  • Guitierrez's other henchman, in the blue trenchcoat, was a guy by the name of Dmitrii. He had like everything in existence inside his coat. It would've been an entirely crazy and wacky boss battle encounter.
  • The Blue Apex Keycard, held by Dmitrii, went to Lucerne Tower, which is the location of dataDyne Corporation in Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. They have a giant research and development area in their basement, too. Jimmy would've had to destroy it all to stop the manufacturing of as many microchips as possible.
  • At the end of the Lucerne Tower arc, Guitierrez would've succeeded anyway and warped tons of homes into subspace via newly Jaitia-powered computers. Jimmy would've gained the Purple Keycard, which would lead to something just like SSBB's The Great Maze, made up of not only Buram Castle, but probably many other homes as well, and possibly even the Apex Microchips building and/or Lucerne Tower.
  • I hadn't thought much else out for the final endgame, since it was far enough away as it is. I have no idea if or how Jimmy/Trent would've fought Armando Guitierrez and Cassandra de Vries.
  • Songs I had considered at one point or other using in Flash animations:
Any further questions? :mrgreen:
Well, not much of a question, but more of a request. I think it would be real nice to combine all the comics and animations together in one neat post, or add it to the possible website for the possible webcomic, if there's gonna be a website for that. Or if Jimmy's thread isn't going in the Archives, maybe the whole strip could.
Just some thoughts. Long live Jimmy! :D
This.
Easy-to-access Jimmy without searching through all the posts. Although our requests made the comic what it is, there are a lot of irrelevant/repeated requests and posts.
I'm very sad we didn't make it to the basement, I would have loved a FF8 reference filled area, heh. Thanks for all the info, it definitely puts things a but more into perspective. :D
LONG LIVE JIMMY!
One last question:
Was there anything special behind the "Tingly feeling" that Jimmy got continually?
All of this.
Jimmy seriously needs to be archived.
