Mysteries of Myron County High School [RP]

"Well, I think it would be fine to go to school again. I think it would raise bigger problems to stop. Besides, we do not really know a lot about the situation. I think I will go again tomorrow so I can get all my work before the weekend." Tabitha responded. "We can keep in touch as usual as things develop. Though it is getting a bit late, father should be here within an hour." It seems unreal... but if I can find anything out tonight after they go it may shed some light on things... I have everything I need to sneak over and check the place out... it would just complicate things if any of them went along ... no I should not tell them. She glances out the window once in a while.

"My father is just.. very particular about things. He likes it all a certain way. We just rarely have guests over, I suppose." She says showing people out. As they filed out she remembered thankfully that they had not gone upstairs where she had her 'special uniform' laid out. Her father pulls in shortly after and she follows the same routine as the day before.

Later that night.
Tabitha waits until her father gets to sleep and puts on the black outfit tying the torn off leg of some black tights around her nose and mouth to cover the rest of her face.
(black baseball cap and goggles leather jacket and a pair of black pants and old hiking boots)
She climbed out the window moving quickly through the shadows to the street of the fire.

The fire site is almost pristine, or as much so as a burnt down house could get. The plot down the the foundation with everything removed. "Crap, nothing left at all." Tabitha mutters looking out to the street. She runs back over the street to head back home disappointed and catching the glint of something in a storm drain. She grabs the massive cast iron grate and pulls it up. It turns out to be a cell phone turning it she finds it mangled with half of it obviously shot off. After gathering the parts, she climbs out and sticks the cover back in. This is definitely her phone... it must have fallen in.. I should go fast. She heads home leaping fences to make it back the long way.

-you don't have to do anything in the night, you can move forward to the next day-
-oh also yes Tabitha will be at school the next day, Friday-

ooc: it's ok, Rat, I'm sure the abilities are different anyway. It doesn't matter too much in the long run really.

Shane looked back at Tabitha and nodded before standing up from his position, slinging his backpack up onto his shoulder. "See you tomorrow, then. Let's hope for the best." Seeing at it was still earlier than when they had gotten out last time, Shane felt he would simply walk the length home, not having much to do until late night, since band practice was scheduled closer to eight. It went slow, with Shane's mind on other things, but neither Eric nor Jeff really prodded on why he wasn't into it as much as usual.

Dawn broke, and Shane's transportation was unusually swift. He had a lot of time to kill once his locker had been gathered from, so he sat out on the front wall of the building, about halfway between where the buses let out and the entrance. Looking for no-one in particular, he tapped his thumbs to his legs to the music and simply stared at everything that approached.

Nick left Tabitha's house and made his way back to the Gymnasium for practice. It was a long one, so he was really tired when he got home. He ate his dinner, worked on some homework, and then watched TV until it was almost midnight when he went to bed.

He woke up the next morning and drove to school. As he was walking in, he saw Shane sitting by the wall outside by himself. Nick didn't really want to go inside right away, so he made his way over to Shane and sat down. He noticed that Shane was listening to music, so he didn't even bother saying 'Hi.' He just nodded to Shane and sat down watching the cars pass by.

"Oh hey!" Tabitha said approaching where Shane and Nick were. She looked around and saw nobody really within earshot. "I went to the burn site last night.. I found a phone I think might belong to Erin. It was pretty broken up. I think it might have even been shot." The thought still fresh in her mind that this means somebody she knew was likely dead easily visible on her face. "It about confirms everything.. the yard was almost completely stripped bare of anything..."

Stephanie waited by Charles' locker keeping an eye out for him to approach. As soon as she is able to catch sight of him she jogs over to meet him. "Bet you did more last night huh.. So how did it go? You can trust me. You can do something special right? Nobody else will understand but me I know how it all works. I can teach you more."

Nick nudged Shane when he saw Tabitha approaching, and motioned for him to take his headphones out. Nick feared that she would have found out some more information the next day that pointed towards murder, or at least death. He didn't like the thought of it at all, especially if it was for hiding something... he immediately got chills from it.

"Do you think... Do you think she's going to start coming after us now?"

As Charlie neared his locker, he saw Stephanie there. As he approached, she talked a bit. Charlie looked at her. More, huh? Should I trust her? Well, it might help me, and I remember her saying something about "higher ups". "I guess that would work, seeing as you burnt the tips of my hoodie strings. Yeah, I can do some 'special things'. So, you can help me learn more?"

"Well. I really have no idea. What ever happened there, all we know now is how it ended. The part that disturbs me the most is... she just disappeared like lots of other people who they claimed moved away. Even her parents are suddenly gone like they moved away or something. It could mean all those people over the years who disappeared could be the same.." Tabitha says to Shane and Nick. "I thought I should tell you at least. Luckily you were here."

"You just meet me behind the tech center at lunch." Stephanie says to Charlie. "It'll be a lot easier to discuss things without the extra attention there." She says heading off to her first class.

"Sure Stephanie. I'll meet you there." Charlie got his stuff from his locker, and quickly headed to his first class. I wonder how this will be. Will I really learn anything? Or will it be a load of bull? Ug, I should stop thinking about this, I will probably think to much about it.

OOC: So sorry! I totally get thrown completely off whenever Znath edits a post (I swear the one at the top of this page had half as much content when I originally read it) because then I get lost with where the story points are coming from, lol. My bad.

Nothing interesting happened when Quinn left Tabitha's house that night, and he spent most of the night doing math homework and playing online games.

The next morning, Quinn got off of his bus with about ten minutes to spare before school was to start. Upon walking towards the entrance doors, he saw Shane and Nick sitting against the wall, with Tabitha standing over them. It seemed odd to Quinn that the 3-4 of them had met up so many times during the last 48 hours, but it was certainly nothing to complain about. He diverted his path and walked over to them, with a casual greeting of "Hey, good morning. What's up?"

Shane pulled his phones back from his ear as he felt Nick's nudge, looking up at Tabitha. The phone was pretty much proof, but... What could the kids do? Convince a bunch of other students to rally together and protect a secret they wouldn't want to admit having? The situation was fairly delicate, and Shane was on the fence if he wanted to be related to it anymore; it was essentially putting a lot of people at risk... "Now that we know, it's another secret to keep. And definitely a weird wild card to have."

Quinn's appearance once again sparked a small feeling in Shane like he was starting to be a part of an odd clique, but the idea of friendship was starting to feel good in his gut again. "Just a new discovery and a lot of people to watch."

Quinn lowered his voice a little and fought the instinct to glance around to make sure no one was behind him. Nick and Shane were in front of him, after all, so Shane would not have spoken if there was anyone behind Quinn.

"Yea, I found a phone near the burn site and it was broken pretty bad. I think it was even shot." Tabitha replied to Quinn. "I obviously did not bring it with me. It seemed too risky. If she was really shot it has some really scary implications. The more I think about it the worse it sounds. Well, ... " She was interrupted by the first 2 minute warning bell sounding. "I guess classes will be starting momentarily. I will see you later perhaps." She says getting up heading off straight to her first class. She sat down in the empty room early just waiting promptly after, a few people followed in.

"Can you give us any info Tabitha?"
"Are they like... investigating you or anything?"

"Ehem.. Just take your seats and leave her alone kids. If only you could keep so interested over the next period." Mr. Gishkov says rolling up his paper. He's a man on the larger side with a scruffy beard teaches one of the history class sections.

Tabitha tried to do anything to just keep her mind off things. She attempted sketching in her notebook, which is quite out of character for her. One sketch in particular was her disguise. Father will be out of town. Maybe later this weekend I could use my abilities to actually help this city.. no way anyone would recognize me in this.. She looks at the picture and sighs ripping it out of the notebook into her backpack.

At lunch she found her usual group's table sitting toward the open side of the table
"Hey, Tab you doing alright?"
"I am fine. Please just no questions... The whole day has been nonstop."
"Oh... ok, well. You haven't noticed anything missing have you?.. lotta kids have had stuff taken from their lockers lately."

"My calculator's gone too!" A third girl jumped in "It was LOCKED even. I know it was."

"Really?" Tabitha was suddenly more interested. "So they knew the code or picked the lock?"

"Doubt it, I think it's happened to like 5 other people, so it's either some kind of savant codememorizer or maybe they have the office key.. I don't know."

Stephanie waited behind the tech center confident Charles would shot up. She waited and got a cigarette out spinning it with her fingers. "He better show up..." Rummaging through her bag she notices her phone missing. "How.. did."

Charles went behind the tech center during lunch. He arrived, and saw Stephanie with a cigarette in her hand, looking a bit worried. "Hey Stephanie. So, what is it that you wanted to 'teach' me?"

"Uh... yea, somebody took my phone. Think I have a plan to fix that little problem." Stephanie said to Charles as he came up. "Anyway, you can do something right? I saw you doing something to Greg, so what is it you can do? This is my deal." She says touching the tip of the cigarette lighting it instantly. "Well I can do more than that, but it's all fire nothing else."

"Well," Charlie said. "I can basically control the heat of an object, as far as I can tell, but I need to be touching it." Charlie pulled otu a bottle of water, and poured some on his hand. He focused, and froze it, but then heated it quickly so it became steam.

"Mine's close. But instead of other objects I can only use it on myself.. I've made my hands glowing hot but that's it." Stephanie said shrugging. "I should explain what I said before. Never let anyone else see you do it. Especially adults around here... nobody knows, but when I was in 6th grade, some highschoolers were fighting and one shot the other with a beam or something from his finger. I could see a teacher in the window of the school who saw, and the next day, he and his parents all gone... There's something weird going on, so ever since I found I had these abilities, I've been gathering other students who did.. I want to form enough of a team we can stop them and expose them for what they are.."

After a bit of a pause "If you don't join I get it.. I've had others walk off. But you can't tell anyone. They kill people like us. And if they catch me they can catch anyone. You don't have to decide now, just let me know later." She says heading back after the lunch bell rings.

Tabitha was cleaning out everything she would need for the weekend from her locker. Luckily not much work for the weekend.. just a report to do She thought putting some of the reference books in her backpack interrupted by Stephanie tapping her on the shoulder.

"Call my phone real quick.. just do it. Somebody took it." Stephanie said abruptly looking down the hall

Tabitha pulled her phone up shuffling it open and dialing one handed. Shortly after a phone rings loudly at the far end of the hall. One of the students, Joe Larson, a bit of an outsider tends to hang out with a bad group, shuffles around through his things. The ring stops and he briskly walks toward the back exit with Stephanie in pursuit.

Instead of following, Tabitha left out the main door. "Well that was odd... " she remarked checking her phone and stuffing it away. She was a bit excited about the weekend but tried not to show it. She spots Shane exiting "Oh, hey. Are you as glad as me the week is over?"

Behind the school (a distance away), Stephanie had Joe cornered grilling him about the theft taking her phone back and dumping out his pack for her battery.

The day was pretty uneventful, excluding the thefts. Stephanie had a new crone to talk to, Shane wasn't missing his music gear, no new murders, and the thefts had plentifully taken the student body's mind off the murder case enough that he wasn't assailed with questions. In fact, one very old one hit his ears from a familiar voice. "...glad as me the week is over?" Shane's eyes looked to Tabitha, and soon saw Eric pointing at him and making kissing faces. Shane's eyes rolled as he held the door open for Tabitha.

"Kinda. There's a lot to think about, but a lot to try not to think about. And trying to keep it normal while wondering if that goof has... is unique like us. Or what it would mean for any of us three to make it open to each other... What about you?"

Charlie listened to what Stephanie said. Join her? Sounds like Star Wars. And what she said about people with "powers" disappeared. I could join up with her group to stay safe. But, I dunno. What should I do? Before Stephanie walked away, he said, "I'll think about it."
He then walked to his locker, desposited his stuff, and as the final bell rang, he grabbed his pack, and a short story he had been working on this week. As he walked through the door, he heard a voice say, "...unique like us." He ignored it and continued walking. He headed home, grabbed some food, and headed up to his room. He then sat and wrote.

Tabitha watched as Charles left "I saw Stephanie talking to him earlier. Which is odd, Janie said she saw her yelling at somebody just like him yesterday. He seems a bit out of her main circle. Do you recognize him?"

Moving a bit further from the school towards her place Tabitha continues "But anyway. I at least did not miss much from yesterday. Just a report for physics about kinetic energy ...What did you mean 'is unique like us'..."

"Dunno who he is. But as for your question, you suspected we may all be unique, and offered to protect the secret if it was shared. And given it's apparently big enough to be on a scale of anonymous evacuation of any unique people found out, it's safe to say it's not just limited to a few kids at a time. Can't prove it, just a guess." Shane stopped and looked at the buses before remembering that Tabitha had walked home before. "You ride any of these, or do you always hoof it?"
