Well, i klinda picked the first book up on a whim. I'd finished by last book, well almost (Terminal World - Alistair Reynolds), and picked this up. I'm really enjoying it actually. It's by Brandon Sanderson, which readers of the Wheel of Time I hope will recognise the name. if you don't (and shame on you if you do read it), he's the guy finishing WoT after Robert Jordan passed away.

The book is fantasy Genre, and from what I'm read is about a type of people called Mistborns and Mistings. They have the power the "burn" metals to perform certain abilities. I won't reveal what, but the way they use them is very unique I'll be honest. I'd recommend this at the moment, and if this is anything to go by from his work in WoT then it's going to be a good read. I'm looking foward to book 12/2 (I'm never going to call it 13) for WoT, and this will hopefully keep me excited, as I've been reading more Sci-Fi than Fantasy of late... I forgot how much I loved the genre.

That... actually sounds pretty cool. I'm not really one for fantasy (I've always leaned more towards sci-fi and horror) but I may have to pick this up. Are they old enough that you can find them at used bookstores?

They're 2009, so I don;t know to be honest. I get through my books quickly, but a 2.5 hours commuting a day does that to you ;)

Well, I've gotta go to Borders to get a Scrabble dictionary anyway. As long as they aren't still hardback, I should be good.

Nope, paperback. I'm getting more and more into it at the moment. It makes me really pleased that of all the writers Jordan could of picked, he made a good choice.

I might give these a try if they're that good. I quit reading WoT in high school...made it to book 3 or 4 and it became incredibly slow, picked up a Dean Koontz book as well as assignments just kind of got ahead of WoT.

Alright, so I just picked one up, but I'm not sure if it's the first one. If it's not then darn. Anyway, only a few pages in, and it's holding my interest fairly well. Thanks for the recommend.

Jurassic Park. Completely different from the movie. Come to think of it, most books by Crichton were good. Prey was also one of his better ones.

I am Legend probably qualifies as sci-fi too. The Taking by Koontz is kinda sci-fiey. These are just off the top of my head, I haven't actually had time to read much in the last 3 years.

Anything by Dean Koontz. I recommend Watchers. One of my favorite books.
