With what little happens in each bleach chapter anymore I'd say you're honestly missing a lot of information.

Also someone pointed out to me that in one of the earlier chapters Shinji wrote his name backwards on the blackboard when he entered Ichigo's school. My mind was blown. Sometimes Kubo really impresses me. Then I take a look at those lovely backgrounds he has.

Regarding the final version of his technique I think it'd feel weird if it was actually a bigger version. Everything seems to get smaller for Ichigo whenever he powers up.

Perhaps I'm missing some things, but in my opinion those little gems aren't worth sitting through hundreds of pages that are devoid of content.

Besides I think everyone had enough of things like :

[bleachbadguy] : Do you honestly think this pathetic power of yours is enough to defeat me? This is ridiculous... I expected more from you, [insertnamehere].
*[insertnamehere] gets beat up for about 4 episodes*
KUROSAKI-KUN!!^99 (or you can replace this by some generic speech)
*[bleachbadguy] is defeated by some lame trick.*

I must confess though, the fight where Ichigo turns into that super-mega-horned-hollow was pretty satisfying because of how merciless he was.

E : Please don't think I'm hating on Bleach because that's the "in" thing to do or something. I think this show has always maintained at least a "watchable" status, but it has several flaws and I can't possibly look over all of them.

I'm just glad that this is finally getting to where it HAS to wrap up soon so that we can move on to whatever they keep talking about with Orihime and Sado. They keep going on about something happening to them and then just threw it out for a bit.

Yeah, there's definitely the possibility of him joining the ranks of the "ascended humans" (can't think of a better term). However, when has the local shinigami ever been anything but background? He does absolutely squat. Keigo can probably do more with that sword than Afro can.
Though...how can Keigo wield a zanpakuto, anyway?

Because Keigo is secretly Afro.

Actually, all shinigami use a generic one. Afro's shikai was anime only so it's possible he never turned his sword into an actual zanpakuto. Otherwise it's pretty easy to think that his zanpakuto is willingly going with Keigo since Keigo has shown greater reitsu than afro simply by waking up sooner. Also seems kind of fitting since Afro's shikai is released by saying "Good Morning" in the anime.
