Not really, but every game he does the same thing. Complains that people are messing around, trying to have fun, complains that we need to get to business, yet he never really makes an effort to get down to that business himself. Need I add that he's mafia >9000% of the time? Yeah.

There's no real way you can play Mafia solely based off of posts. You need to focus on behavior, which can only be done objectively. That's pretty much what I look at each game.

So, maybe what we should do this game is try that. Look at each other's behaviors and mannerisms instead of base off of our previous knowledge - that's the best way you can analyze someone. I know I'm not making much sense over this, but I'm trying to give you all a starting point.

Obviously, Day 1 is pretty much a shot in the dark unless someone seriously screws himself up. The main goal should be looking for ways to read each other. I feel like Lander's and Tahu's behaviors are going to be focused a lot on the past judging by that previous post which may not be ideal. But then again, that can be a very easy ploy by two members trying to incite some kind of early animosity within each other.

Look for avoidance.

Lolwut? Contradictions like that are liable to get a man lynched. Anyway, I follow what you say, but I disagree. Past behavior is crucial in determining whether or not someone is scum. Ask Paidea to tell you about the Metagame. :laugh:

If you know their style and their patterns as a townie or as scum and they're exhibiting different ones (or the same if they turned out scum in previous games, like my tahu example) this time around, it ought to send up a flag. Especially this early in the game where we have no real solid evidence yet, all we do have are past experiences.

That being said, BM, your post made me want to share a nugget of wisdom of my own. I've said this many times before but the best tool in mafia is ACCUMULATION OF EVIDENCE. The only solid info we have in this game are people's alignments when they die. Based on other people's voting patterns and relationships with those dead people plus any other scumtells they might be exhibiting, it's really simple to find out who's scum. For example: If Scar claims that he's the detective and Frank says "olol watch out guiz he might be falseclaiming" that might just be a careful villager. But if he says that, and has a history of voting for known villagers and/or avoiding conflict or voting for known scum, that ought to send up a flag.

The only problem with this is we can't really nail down scum too early, as there haven't been many alignment confirmations. (deaths)

It's at this point where you'll see Tweedy, Paidea, myself, kikori, and whoever else pointlessly arguing with one another to try and get some information. :laugh:

You and I have differing methods of analyzing metagames, and that's good because it makes us compromise and gets us better perspectives. But, what I really wanted was a response like that, which allows me to safely assume that you're a villager because that's precisely how I would respond.

Also how on earth can people MISS size 1 font. It's like a two-pixel black line where there shouldn't be one, clear as day!
