Ok, now that I am home and on a pc, I can rant more.

A website on their "Platinum" list contains, that I counted, 8 ads on their home page. Most are random, one is Google, so we know that other games can get advertised on there. But to make it worse, there is an ad at the botton for Left 4 Dead. OMG a different game thats always advertised!

But we have to remove our 1 ad to just get on the gold list? Pfft, c'mon.

Weren't we already getting the stuff listed on Platinum? Did Jagex suddenly decide to be Fuzzy Bunny and take it away from us unless we pretty much pay them for it?

OK, DC just covered everything. I say we let Jagex have a sneak peek at RV 2.0... I mean seriously, we owe them. And ummmm... I might help out with guides if I can get back in and on a computer. *feels sheepish* And calm down, Animal. If we could get someone to see how they're doing, we'll be fine. Plus the occasional troll demotes us...

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

I believe I have every reason to be angry. We go from being one of Jagex's favorite fan sites, to having to work for their virtually useless approval. We were on their approved fansite list, and then they decided to change that.
Riptide wrote:

I'm 99% sure there are more trolls on other fansites than there is on RV. And unless that list lies or I'm reading it incorrectly, it pretty much is all about doing what Jagex wants.

No. They can see it when it's fully released, and can move us up then. There's no sense in compromising the project to maybe get moved up.

:teach: Actually, (<3) there were assignments given out when Donut Juice was still the head of the Guide Writers, but even then there was some leniency on the due dates. No assignments have been given out in around a year though, so if that's what anyone is worried about, don't be. It's work at your own pace, and everything will be greatly appreciated by anyone who uses the guide (whether they say so or not is a different matter.)

I'd laugh if we're silver because of our "Other Games" forum. Silly Jagex afraid of a little competition.

I get the feeling that it's due to our site layout and outdated guides, though. I really wish we had more help in those departments..

I would say it's actually more that WoW subforum we have
imo it should be kill like the GW one

Looking over that list, I noticed that RS Wikia didn't even rate a mention, and tip.it only got Gold. Kind of sad that we only rate a silver, but it is something that we can work on in terms of content. The advertising part, I am not so sure of.

Hmm, WoW is pretty much the biggest competitor of every MMO out there

Honestly, WoW sucks. Also, the only reason Tip.it is on there is for their huge item/monster databases. Their guides are worse than ours!

You can't say WoW sucks if you've never played it, or even any of the Warcraft series.

Nose is right. Take a gander at HQ's main website and you'll see adverts all over the place and a navigation scheme that people didn't realize that you can indeed have too much action going on...

It's not worth the hassle to jump through the hoops to get a higher classification. We're a small website and need to grow. There is no other reason to allow HQ at platinum with all they've got going on other then they have a larger community then we do.

EDIT: I had to have fun and went to HQ.com for this... I clicked on the advert underneath their paypal donation area (I've also seen some clan advertisement there...) "Want to have Party Hats? Learn the secrets to be rich in RuneScape! Get your guide today!." The link sends you to some website claiming to have RuneScape cheats and Cheat Codes... Right.

Don't forget that every time you click to a different page on HQ a new pop-up comes up.

Honestly, it's like what I said yesterday. Jagex takes a quick glance of a fan page then judges it from there.

Maybe someone should bring these "violations", and I use that word tentatively, to Jagex's attention? Not out of spite or any negative feelings towards the competition of course, more because if they are endorsed as some of the top sites of the Runescape world yet those things still go on imagine what it could lead people to thinking about sites lower on the list.

:?: You agree with me?

Anywho, take screen shots and report them to HQ and us so we all can get them removed - so no one gets scammed.

He's talking about the Adverts.
