EDIT: I'll be performing maintenance on the server at around 2AM CET, depending on when I get home again this evening. Mainly the dynamic parts of the site are going to be unavailable for a short while. I apparently forgot to enable a couple of options (not related to the attack we had on us yesterday) which are really needed.

The estimated downtime would be about 20 minutes.

EDIT2: and that one went perfectly fine without any bump.

Greetings,
Glodenox

I'll be applying the update in 2 hours from this post. This upgrade will take approximately 25 minutes. During that time, the chat should still be functional and I'll also be available for information over there during the upgrade.

It has been a while since we've upgraded to a new version of phpBB. Some new features will be added, such as the ability to report PM's and extra checks so that if someone edited a post you are trying to edit, you get a warning about that. Also, the registration image will be replaced with reCAPTCHA, which should be easier to read for humans and more difficult for automated bots. The biggest change should be that the board will be a bit faster in loading its pages due to a better caching system.

Greetings,
Glodenox

*sigh*

When an exact copy of something behaves differently than the original, there's not much you can do to plan ahead...

Anyway. Welcome to the latest version of phpBB.

Greetings,
Glodenox

I've noticed the load time is quicker now. I like.

What do you mean when you say 'dynamic parts'?

With the dynamic sections I was referring mostly to the parts of the site that use the database to gather information from.

Although the downtime was only around 40 milliseconds (aka: pretty much none), if there was any, all files on the site ending with the extension .php would've also been unavailable because those rely on some server software to be generated.

But this maintenance already went through and I'm very happy with the results :)

Greetings,
Glodenox
