I didn't really want to make this declaration at first until I could handle being away the village for awhile. I think the spurs of 3-8 days in between sessions here has shown I am secure about the decision I am making for sure. No half-assed promises of quitting this time, since it isn't out of rage or boredom. In fact, my RV name says the reason in itself.

If you couldn't get what I was implying above, I'm leaving the village. Simple as that. This account will reach its 6th year since creation, but I won't be around to celebrate it. For the record, I've been contemplating the decision even before a certain incident, so it wasn't the loss of gold status that really influenced my choice in the slightest. If anything, it's the fact the village, from my own personal viewpoint, is just... depressing. Yes, I used the 'd' word for that. The only reason I hung around the village was the sense of energy and life that was emitted it from the people when I first started (mind you I've been lurking around the forums since 2004 for those who know me from then). Most of them have left the game of RuneScape, fewer actually sticking around to be in this place.

I won't lie, but like everybody, the village has actually changed my life. I won't go into the details, but it was the Literary Society (before it fused with the Roleplaying forums to become what it is, pages of repeating themes, no offense to RPers) that made me have an interest in language and eventually lead me to tap into my creative talents. Unfortunately, I feel like my creativity isn't going to thrive with the Village as it is. Sorry I can't do a thing of use, but the best I can provide is "Thank you" for the countless things people have done in the pub, whether they stayed a day or an eternity. I don't really know what would've occurred if I never found the village or stayed at a different fansite initially. I was able to discover my abilities, interests, and ideal friends in a site that preceded the era of social networking sites we have today.

I don't really need a list of people to thank. Most of them are either humble or vanished. As the remaining people that will see the Village until the point the doors close for good, you also helped me and will receive it from others in the future, that's a guarantee for sure.


I think I'll let the name 'Marik' have its rest here, as well as my melancholy. I've only friended one villager on Facebook because he was one of my first ones here to begin with. With that, I wish you well. Au revoir.

I don't see how you can just "leave" permanently. How much energy does it take to log in and browse every now and then? Yeah we're not as active as before and people have lives and whatnot but it's just...ahhh...oh well.

I felt nostalgic at the thought of not being able to chat with certain people since I essentially have no other way to contact them. It got to the point I basically had to log on to PM and let people know. Yeah, I'm on Tip now (I'm a naughty turncoat, am I) since I still play Scape, but wanted a different flavor.

Oh, I think Matt is there too but I think he might have been banned there too. :>
