I just happened to glance at my profile and noticed that my account turned 8 years old nearly a week ago. It's been crazy. Unfortunately, I can barely remember most of my early days. I never really had any friends from here back then and I'd often see people on RuneScape that asked if I was the Pyro3000 from here. It was rare I ever knew who they were. Now it seems like I know just about everyone. It's crazy to think I've been here for so long. Sadly, most of my friends that I've made since coming here are no longer around. I was around 15 when I first became a Forum Moderator. I was actually planning on leaving RuneVillage back then. I know I've left on a few occasions, but back then I really had nothing here. Once I got my rank, though, I felt like I had to stick around. It just didn't feel right to get offered a position and then run off on everyone. I'll never forget working together with people from my old clan and I surely won't forget how welcome I've felt here. I still miss the days of working on my own forum for my clan with Sherbros and I miss all the laughs I've had in the past with Poison333 and Snake1235.

It's hard to believe that I ended up in such a strong community that I've seen RuneVillage transfer into other games. I remember starting up the RuneVillage Guild on Guild Wars with Tsukasa (since Fallen Leaves, once Yachiru, and now Kevin). We had a pretty good run with that guild for the entire duration we all played. It's a shame that Dom3k never pops around anymore. We really had some good times. To think I once spent entire days on Guild Wars and Skype with Quan, Knux, Dom3k, Kevin, Mogomongoose, Tom, and Frogger (Zapp). It's a shame that as we grew older we couldn't keep that up. It was always amusing to me that we'd all instantly get together in a skype call when everyone got home.

I wish I could return to those days. What I'll miss the most, though... is what I'm about to leave behind.


It's gotten too hard. I work 40 hours a week, and I really want to get back to college. My free time is getting smaller and smaller. I find I can only really spend an hour or two a day playing games or watching anime. I try to give RV some time, but I just end up idling in the chatroom. Unfortunately, my chat hours have been hours that I really should be asleep. As such I will soon start logging in less and less as I catch up with myself. I'll still log in while I'm going through my games, but once I've caught up... I think I'm going to start focusing on more important things in life.

I'm sure that some will be a bit disappointed that they didn't see their name in this thread, but to be honest... it's just too hard to get myself to name everyone. This definitely isn't goodbye, but it is a small farewell. You all know how to keep in touch with me, and I have full faith that those that currently can't will at some point be able to, regardless of their home ownership status.

I truly wish you all the best. I say that as one of two RVPub & Chat Moderators. I also say it as an Elder. I considered keeping Chat Moderator so that I could still see mod chat and have log access... but that wouldn't be right. I'm not a moderator anymore, and as such I have no right to carry the rank.

That being said, it's been an absolute joy to work with you. We seem to agree on a lot of things, and I feel like that made it really easy when asking for advice from you. You've always been a person that I've looked up to on this site, and it truly saddens me to see you go but at the same time, I think most of us saw this coming. I really feel like the last year or so we've become (or I consider it anyway) good friends. You're a blast to play DnD, and other video games with. I want to thank you for all you've done on this site, namely the countless hours of moderating.

I hope you will eventually get everything sorted out in your life and you will be able to come around here more.

Your situation sounds eerily similar to my own, and it rather depresses me to think we're probably all mostly going through the same thing. How lucky were we those 6-8 years ago without knowing it, logging onto RV and signing into Chat every day without fail?

You have been, without a doubt, for quite some time, the most active Board Moderator on this site, and I don't think anyone can deny that. You've done a lot for RuneVillage, and we're all grateful for that. What I'm grateful for is what a good friend you've been to me, even though we only started talking like a little over 3 years ago or so. Someday we'll go to Six Flags, buddy.

You know what worries me? I'm getting a lot closer to platinuming Demon's Souls. And so help me, when I pass you up in trophies, if you use "I've been busy" as an excuse, I am going to gripe at you so hard! Don't do it! DON'T.

oh pyro... not you too! i had always felt you were going to be one of the first Village Staff to draw social security while still on the job!

you have been one of the stones in the foundation of the Village- solid, dependable, supportive. No one could ever ask for more than what you have given us.

i want to be selfish and try to make you stay on in your job-- but like some of the others who have stepped down, I realize you're at a different time of your life now, and sometimes you just have to do some things that are best for you. I can only repay your good work by wishing what is best for you.

so find you a job, get into school, play a few other games... but learn to juggle too... develop the skills to juggle a job, school, gaming, and the Village too... and maybe some occasionla 'scaping.

i would hope you'd hang on to your chat mod job at least-- it's requires less than your board mod job and you can perform that job by dropping in occasionally....

other than that, I can only quote what jack said:
