After all these years Runevillage hasn't changed much, if i may still call it Runevillage and i will because i'd like to stick with that name, gives me mountains of good memories, and a couple of bad ones, but every experience was necessary to shape me into the person i am today.
It's been a while since my last visit, and one of the first things i noticed is people still bickering, i wonder why, but i'm not here to whine and dine, it's not my concern though i find it silly and no longer amusing like i once did :awesome:
Apart from the few obvious facts everybody is aware of, it's still the same old place... and such shame that Hiker past away, i still had many questions i wanted to ask him and now even more so, ah we'll see, if we're lucky there's a heaven, but who knows, certainly not me.
So with that said, it's really awesome that there's still enough people to keep this (it's so cold here sometimes...) place busy enough, so you all have my appreciation, if it wasn't for all of you, this place wouldn't be same old same old, it'd be history and i wouldn't be able to share this with all of you.
I'm proud of what i have done for Runevillage and thankfull for what Runevillage has done for me.
Even though many of my creations for Runevillage seem to have gone up in smoke, none of my efforts were ever wasted.
I might one day write a small story about my whole experience, after all Runevillage is the place where i first learned i had a certain way with words and also discovered many more talents i was not aware of!

I'd like to remember this place as a village, like it once was, it's such a shame that it takes so long to build something yet so little time to tear it back down.
What's left is a house with it's walls kept standing tall and strong thanks to it's foundation; it's people, who, after so many unfortunate events still won't give up, shall i say a waste of time, madness or pure dedication? It doesn't really matters what i say, what's left is a tiny miracle and that's what matters.
Oh and me, i'm doing pretty fine thank you, still blessed with a memory elephants can't touch, because of that i'm still able to recall the first moments i spent on Runevillage, and if your wondering... and it just happens i have the time to explain, and two plus two is five, i might just as well...

Once upon a time...
There were these two brothers...
Well, maybe you are wondering, and maybe i just happens that i have the time to explain, but who ever said you have the time to read?
But just incase...

The gates of Runevillage.
Once upon a time...
A long thirteen years ago to be exact...
There lived two brothers, two young boys of the age of twelve and nine.
Their names, their believes and ideals, their dreams and their future will remain a mysterie, as in this short story you will only find out how those two boys found their way to the gates of Runevillage.

The youngest, who was unaware at that time of the nasty evil beings that lurked amongst the shadows of the interneweb, was actually the one who first heard about Runevillage, yet he was not the one to seek out or even find the place.
The oldest, with only his younger brother as a friend, often felt lonely and wanted to be part of a community, but not just any community, he wanted to be part of the best.
But was the place real, was it a place where the two brothers could find refuge, or were they unwillingly led in to a trap?
As the two boys went on with their daily routine in Runescape they kept seeing more and more people talk about Runevillage, could it really be true?
One day the youngest said he's seen something in the far distance what he thinks was Runevillage, but perhaps it was his way of trying to make sure his older brother would muster up all his might and finally seek out the place, but it didn't help, Runevillage remained a mystery, untill one day...
The day the two brothers went on a quest to investigate a rather old and spooky mansion, that's where it all truly started, but little did the brothers knew they we're stepping on to cursed soil...
Dranor Manor i believe people call it these days, located in the heart of Runescape, rumor has it there's a device somewhere in the mansion that operates as a portal to different dimenions or realities, but that's the least of their concerns and nothing more than a rumor.
On that certain day, the two brothers went to the nearest chapel to receive their blessing from the great white god Saradomin before embarging on their quest.
After a final check-up they were both set and ready, big brother armed with a staff and plenty of runes, and little brother had his thrustworthy bow with him coupled with a quiver full of mithril arrows.
Blessed by Saradomin the two brothers went and approached the lonely dwindling path that led to Dranor Manor.
Shivers went down their spines as they first set foot on Dranor soil.
'Wooo.....Woooo' A howling sound could be heard in the distance, but there wasn't the slightest breeze, as if the wind was coming from inside the manor itself yet the huge wooden front door was firmly shut.
Even the dead, dried up grass was unsettling, moving to the left and right as if with the wind, and if you looked at one of the shrivled trees for too long, you'd get the impression they started moving...
But despite all that the two brothers went on to further investigate the garden.
It didn't took them too long before they found their way around back and into the garden shed, where they heard movement coming from within the manor.
What could be making that noise, were the two brothers not the only ones embarking on a journey to find out the secrets of this manor, or was there something completely different, completely unimaginable and unthinkable making that noise?
The brothers went on investigating, looking for a way in via the garden shed, but they couldn't find any way in, it seemed that the manor could not be accessed via the shed.
Suddenly the movement stopped, as did the howling noise they could still faintly hear in the distance.
A creaking noise of something heavy opening could be heard in that distance, someone or something must have opened up the front door.
Thus the two brothers retraced their steps trough the overgrown garden all the way back curieus to see if the front door was indeed open, and it was.
Slightly intimidated by the spooky shrivled trees, the two boys decided it would be most wise to stear clear of them while entering the manor, just to be safe...
As if being safe was actually a certainty when standing upon cursed soil, and the two boys experienced that rather quickly once the door slammed shut behind them, locking them inside Dranor Manor...!
Maybe it was just the wind, maybe the knocking that came from that closet door right across the hall was just the wind as well, or maybe someone was keeping skeletons...
I wouldn't have opened that door, but the two brothers couldn't resist to take a peek and so they did only to find a pile of bones and a feather.
As the two boys walked out of the closet the door slammed shut behind them and they could hear a rattling coming from the basement.
A spooky manor wouldn't be complete without a basement now would it?
With no obvious way back out the manor, the boys had no choice to go either up or down and forced themselves to the stairscase leading in to the basement of Dranor Manor.
At first glimpse, it looked like an ordinary basement; moist, a bit chill and preferably under ground level.
A few levers on the wall quickly revealed that it was not an ordinary basement and before they even got the chance to take a good look at it, they hear a scream coming from somewhere behind the basement walls, then it went silent again.
The boys immediatly thought of a secret room that must be hidden behind those walls and were clever enough to figure out the levers had something to do with it.
The oldest pulled a lever and not soon after a slab started moving creating a gap, upon pulling another lever another gap was revealed.
The newly revealed gap had a lever secured to the wall, the oldest walked in to the gap and pulled the lever only to be moved into another gap with two more levers, he wanted to un-do his move and get back out but it seemed impossible.
Before he pulled any other switches the older brother called for his younger brother and told him he should get help because he thinks he might not be able to get out of here on his own again.
The younger brother asked if he could do his very best, as he was too scared to go get help all on his own.
Thus the big brother pulled another switch, and another, and to find out he was moving in circles.
After a while he called for his little brother again, but there was no response...
Again he yelled...suddenly a squeeky voice could be heard saying; 'Is..is someone there? I, i haven't eaten in days..., where is..., where am i?'
The older brother answered, but there was no reply, everything went silent save for the beating of his own heart...
Exhausted and alone the older brother sat down and closed his eyes, wondering if this could be his end, not realising it was merely just the beginning...
Runevillage... Runevillage... Runevillage...
The sudden sound of grinding stone got the big brother back on his feet, a few moments later a piece of wall moved from infront of him, revealing a figure in shining armor, infact the armor was so shiny it was hard to make out who or what it was beneath that suit of metal.
Whatever or whomever it might have been, it was speaking kind words and said it knew where Runevillage was hidden.
The older brother had no other choice, even if that ment walking in to a trap, thus he asked if he could be guided there.
The suit of metal guided the big brother back to his little brother and told them they must follow him up all the way up to the attic if they were to finish their quest and find that magical place called Runevillage.
Both brothers had a bit of suspicon, but the suit of metal already rescued one and they both already came this far, not either one of them was thinking about giving up.
And so the suit of metal kept his promises, he helped them finish their quest, took them both home and revealed to the oldest brother the path that will take them both to Runevillage.
Once back home, both brothers too tired to even move their feet, figured it'd be best to seek out the place of Runevillageat at the break of dawn, they knew the secret of getting there and they knew it was safe, they had nothing more to worry about.
That day was finally coming to an end, both brothers had some very memorable experiences, so many memories i'm certain one of them could one day write a book about it all but for now, it's time to close the books...
And so goes the story, my story of how i found Runevillage, i hope you enjoyed it.
The end.

No, i didn't proofread it, so if you know you have allergic reactions towards grammatic errors, please video tape yourself when it happens and become famous and Youtube!

And long story short;
I was with my lil bro doing the quest in dranor manor, the one where all the newbies get stuck in the basement maze (if it still exist the way it did), i got stuck while my bro was waiting at the starting point and some guy got me out of there and helped us throug the quest and he said he came from Runevillage, and he used a guide from there to help us get through.
That guy was the final reason i needed to visit this site, and so for your enjoyment i packed all of that into a short story.

I look back at this place with pain in my heart, but that's how it always goes, can't hold on to something which isn't for ever, everything and everyone has an experation date and unfortunatly, they all go too soon.
But parts of that is what makes life great, learn to appreciate the good and relativise the bad, always stay positive cause everything has a bright side, even death and if you don't understand, you one day certainly will.

Don't count on me being 'back', i'm just passing through, too busy anyway but maybe i'll make camp here for a while :p
With all that said, i think i've said more than enough, so i'm off again!

Cool! Thanks for the read. I woke up early due to a phone call. What a pleasant way to spend these extra 20 minutes.

That's awesome. Thanks for the story. I, too, found RuneVillage through someone I met while on a quest. It's really cool to see how so many different people came to find RV, and what it means to them. :)

I'm glad you two liked it, it was like 6am when i started it and 7am when it was finished, i was seeing double with one eye, the other one was shut while shaking my head in all kinds of motions to stay awake, not all the time, but enough for the story to take a full hour to write, and i hadn't planned on writing any stories :p
But i guess i just kinda got the idea as i was writing what i wanted to write and figured i'd best keep it for tommorow, as i hadn't slept yet, but what the heck i did it anyway, loved writing it too, otherwise i would have definitly fallen asleep.

Edit(h): Oooh god the grammatical errors, i'm going to kill myself, goodbye.
