But after looking back on millions of screenshots of old RV parties, after (I guess) "blindly" denying it, since I've quit RuneScape and stopped frequenting RV, I just realized. With the new limits and the new things Jagex has added and such, is it really impossible to have a great party like the RV Birthday Bashes anymore? Is it really true? I feel in a way as if I've only now realized I've been hit in the head several times, but it never came until now when it came in one big load, hitting me on the head with realization and nostalgia.

Has all the fun in parties truly, honest to goodness, RV Bash style-gone? I just can't believe it at this point. It's just hard to admit. I just now realized how much more fun a had hanging out with members of this community rather then anything else on RuneScape. I've realized that I've made many friends on RuneScape, and always shrugged off the Grand Exchange or the drop difficulty 'till now. I feel rather stupid but also nostalgic from the fact that I had a load more fun actually getting to know and hanging out with people then rather doing anything else in that game.

I never liked any of the skills. The only one I truly, EVER liked, because I started hating all others, is Hunting. God knows why I actually liked this skill, but any other skill I will never be as comitted as I did in Hunting. it was the one skill I enjoyed which some didn't but some shared common interests. I had many funny experiences meeting both enemies with an anger issue and grammar difficulties, and also made great friends.

I remember my Hunting party very well, the one community that I had ever visited over the course of my "RuneScape Career (of sorts)" had actually wanted to come to my own personal achievement, to be there, to give me a congradulations and to also right after have a huge party. Just simply begin having crazy, pointless fun. I also remember countless other parties, which were much more organized and fun then anything I had ever experienced.

I'll be truthful, even though I played RSC a day before RS2 came out, and rather despised RSC for the minutes I played, and heck didn't even touch RS2 until very later, as I was probably 6-7 around that time (Har-har) and I've realized that over the course of how I've played in RuneScape, I've really truly had the greatest blast in my life so far. Sure there's still ton to come in my young life, but RuneScape truly did a number on me.

When I first got my level 9 account "Devilman205" hacked (and to this day, if you question him, he says it's been his since he made it) I started 501, and I met a guy fishing, level 49 I'd think, his name was 1fish07. Now these next few paragraphs are rather a tribute to all my friends, particularly 1fish07. He offered me some coins for cowhide, and being level 3-4, I went straight to killing, and exploded with joy when I had my first hundred. He has truly been there for me. The last time I saw him last year, he was level 110 I think, I don't know what's become of him now, but from where I've gotten to known him, comparing to me now, a silly middle schooler, he's a fully mature adult, and heck, with a son!

Whether I was asking on his opinion on anything in particular, or maybe it was when I asked him how he did a quest, he literally was generous enough to practically FUND me with cooked sharks and potions at his level. No matter what I've tried, he would never accept any gifts from me, and has always been generous over everything. I even died a few times, and he helped me back up. He also had a friend RedSoxFan293 who I also got to know, and he was an absolutely funny and awesome guy to talk to.

Both him and 1fish07 were my personal best friends in my entire RuneScape experience. Hell, I have a small story to share. Two days before Christmas Two years(?) ago, I was getting on to RuneScape, and find I was hacked. After I finally recovered my person, as a Christmas Present, because 1fish07 and RedSoxFan293 knew my general equipment, I told them I was hacked and such, so then they ask me where I was. I was confused but said I was in Edgeville. Next thing I know, I've probably gotten the best "RuneScape Gift" in my gaming "career." They got me identical if not better equipment, and even gave me a bonus and called it a present. Given that they have always been 40 levels ahead, no matter how much I tried, either my gifts were way to small compared to their generosity, or they were just being nice beyond belief, but they would either not except, or only partially accept my gifts.

Now around the time before I had quit, I had became experienced enough to hold my own decently with them. After my joy that was hunting, I began actually doing "high level activities" I always dreamed of doing, even though I was level 89. I had gone to fight Mithril dragons with RedSoxFan293 all the time, and did numerous trips to the blue dragons with 1fish07, and truly had a great time. Besides those two fantastic guys, I'd have to say that a lot of my real life friends also had tried RuneScape but quit because it grew to be tedious and "lame" and even if I told them that at higher levels it's fantastic to play, they ignored.

Even so, I also remember getting my very big fair share of fantastic memories with the one skill I liked: Hunting. I got my first million that way. You will never believe how happy I was. Never. Ever. Ever. Then I moved to a bigger memory, my first RARE, which was an easter egg. Eventually, I got the one thing I desired most. A Santa hat. I died of happy and practically just sat at my computer doing nothing but gleefully smiling at the one thing I had envied this whole time. I also achieved my first 99, which also gave me a very fantastic feeling of "glory" or "authority." I also got the many joys (as mentioned before) of having my first "party" of sorts. It was absolutely fantastic, with a very decent handfull of Villagers there to cheer me and party with my newly obtained achievement.

When Grand Exchange appeared, I took fun in being a sour-puss on the forums and being a "smart jerk" to anyone whining. Then with the drop rule and such, the same. But now when I sit back to realize, that I was being a jerk just because I wanted to, and now I sit here thinking, all the things that I loved, that made RuneScape great. I truly enjoyed playing RuneScape. It's definitely staying in my memory as an influence (I guess) in my early life.

Now on the topic of what I see now, is that RV has continued to slow down, as the topics weren't as lively and now just isn't much fun with the older members (Yes, I know I'm not that old.) 1fish07 and RedSoxFan293 still play I would think, they are definitely great parts. Hunting is no longer to me a joy because after the 99, I didn't want to stare at red chinchompas again. But it definitely did bring lots of fun while it lasted. How I see it "RV Birthday Bashes" aren't too successful now with the drop limit, which only now hit me.

Basically, that's why I quit RuneScape, there was nothing to do. But to throw it out there, I could have easily done Desert Treasure before I quit, but I realized that even some soddy epic magiks wouldn't help me keep playing when the very few things that attracted me to the game are now gone. But I will definitely never forget this great game.

A few last thing, I must definitely thank RuneVillage. I came here as some stupid 10 year old with horrid fakes (not much improvement to this day) trying to be "cool" around the time fakes where popping up everywhere and general pictures was the place to be. it was the best place like... Ever to be. Ever. Now it's slowed down, with a post every so often, and I've found that most forums are just lurked upon by most of the members 'till one member sees something they deem "worthy" to reply to to recycle a slow chain of boredom that the old RV never had.

I want to thank a few people off the top of my head that may or may not have influenced me, been real supports to me, and have also been just generally great people. (A.K.A: My suck-up list.)
- Hiker: You made this site, and you are absolutely cool.
- Henner: He nose all there is to know.
- Goten, Toa, and Andrey: You've just generally been awesome with your pixel art. You Andrey and Toa and a few others all that made Paint Wars an absolutely fantastic thing, and generally you three have been both nice, been giving me useful and constructive criticism, or trying to make me watch strange clips from 24. *coughAndreycough*
P.S. Andrey, you have the same name as my Dad.
- Mord: Just because. Whether people thought you were a flamer, I just though you were a smort guy.
- Morte: You were also very smort. Both you and Mord were awesome.
- Apple and A5chow: Good luck with the relationship and stofs. A5 was always very nice and Apple, I looked up to your authority powa's.
- Zxc: Always thought you were a guy to be honest. But I look up to your art and I think it's incredibly great.
- SkyDemon: You were just a cool guy to talk to.
- Bart: You fatman in denial.
- Devon: Thanks for the ruined childhood innocence.
- Kamel: Super-pooper awesome. It's a gas, gas, gas.
- Jaron (Sr.): Since I was Jaron Jr. with the hunting and all. But besides that, you were always a great guy to talk to, and I think I mostly got to know you from the Rv Highscores, talking of Elite Beat Agents with you and Ultima.
Speaking of cool guys with 'tude:
- Rab: Awesome faker like Andrey and Goten and stuffs.
- Zizi: Had some fun chats in RS sometimes.
- Pyro: Never got to know you much at all.
- Coolhandbud: I got to know you a wee bit, but from what I saw, you're a supra awesome guy! :D
- Hoof: Honk.
- TAI: You were always cool, but never got to know you much either.
- Ultima: Didn't know you too well. Except for EBA.
- Azn: You're like the coolest guy ever. You're all "mellow" about it.
- Boa: You and Goten both emit many awesomes.
- Dino and Flying Aero: Didn't get to know you two too well, but both of y'all seem like cool guys.
- Whydid, you're cool to talk to on MSN sometimes.
- Stalesoul and Svs: I didn't get to know you guys too well too, but both are great. Particularly in humor sometimes.
- Stalkerjoe: PS3. D:
- Tahu: E-heh. Not much to say. I'll chat with you when you don't poop pillows and styrofoam. I kid though. Srsly, get something T or M or whatever.

P.S: Dunut is still a nubbart.

I think those are the only people that so far come to mind. If I forgot you then you are absolutely correct with thinking that I hate you or some junk like that, but with sarcasm aside, I just forgot you. But I bet you were cool too.

I kinda am and kinda am not leaving RV. I'll visit and pop in once in a while, but I truly warrant no interest from it nowadays. :/

Wow, I'm not quite sure what to say besides "Very nicely written post", except I did that in MSN already.

I'm with ya. RS was a blast. Hunting was a blast. Talking about EBA was a blast. I'm extremely glad you thoroughly enjoyed it, and at least, realized the same. It wasn't stupid in the least. :)

Be sure to keep your word and pop in now and then if you truly plan to go inactive. ^_^; It was fun talking to you, Devilman.

Thanks a lot for mentioning me, it means a lot. You've hit that point in life where you see bigger and better things I suppose. Of course, we're going to always be around, whether it be on MSN, chat, or right here on Runevillage forums. I believe you have me added on MSN. I think I remember you first joining, and let me tell you, you've changed a lot.

Contact me if you need me, if you need any of my contacts PM me. Also, as for the "coolest guy," I wouldn't say that. ;)

Very nice post, devil. I had been wondering where you'd seemingly disappeared to.

Yeah, RuneScape's really taken a dive in the player interaction department. It's the reason why I myself quit for a few months, and still continue to only play rarely now. Still, there will always be old friends to talk to as well as some interesting content to complete, so maybe you'll find your interest reignited at some point in the future - if only for a short while.

You've certainly matured since I first met you, and I'm glad to see you reflecting and appreciating the experiences in life thus far. Wherever life takes you, keep hold of that appreciation for your experiences and friendships made along the way. :)

Wow, devil. That's all I can say. Wow.

I know I'm simply echoing the other users, but you certainly have changed a lot since joining this forum. When you first joined, I don't think you had the maturity to make a post even half as decent as this. However, I must agree that RuneVillage has also changed, but hopefully some aspects of this site return to their former glory.

I don't think we ever talked, but I might have you on MSN... If you don't have this already, ryinyang12003@yahoo.com . I'm not on much right now (travel), but once it hits the second week of July, I'll be back on in full force :)

It's sad to see you "leave" RuneVillage, but I'll be looking forward to seeing ya here and on MSN. Try to have a good time, wherever you end up ;)

I'm somewhat speechless. I'm glad to see you've informed us of your absence, as regardless of your PM I was always wondering where you ran off to. Truly, in a non cliché way, it's been amazing to know you. You're wise beyond your years, and this post only strengthens that fact. While I'm only several years older than you, I wish I had the knowledge and maturity at that age. It'll take you far.

So, bye. You'll be missed greatly, but that's needless to say. It's been amusing watching you 'evolve', so to speak, and even more amusing being your friend.

All the best. :)

I do believe that essay rivals the length, detail, and quality of some of Sarah's and Shadow7's posts.
[humor]But your name starts with a 'D', not an 'S' :D [/humor]

*Clears his throat*

It's not possible to have a good party that consists of drops unless we're lucky enough to find an empty world with everyone somewhere OTHER than the party hall. That's not likely. That doesn't stop the community at the village from being tight-knit enough to find ways around that, even if it involves having more events than items in drops.

The fun in parties isn't completely gone. It's, literally, that people can't give away more expensive items that would make other players happier. That doesn't stop it that the thought is still there, nor does it cancel out the fun of anything else the party entails. Also, being a community-based person instead of working on skills or gaining materials isn't stupid, at all. It's being social. Don't let that about yourself go, it's something that not everybody can say about themselves.

A game's supposed to be played because you like it. If you enjoyed Hunting, I'm glad you got to 99, because that's the best form of success; to achieve the highest point possible in something you like. And when dealing with people, of course you'll find those on both ends of the scale; immature and cool. The fact that you've matured with, and possibly from, these friends is only another benifit of playing this game with such passion.

*Looks at the paragraph* Concerning your hunting party, you almost make it seem like you're surprised Runevillage wanted to congradulate you. Give us more credit than that. Between the fansites, Runevillage is one of the tighter-knit communities, and anyone who's worth knowing is usually well known enough that we'd WANT to say a due "Congradulations", assuming we see it to say it.

And if you can look back and say the "number" Runescape did on you was anything less than good, you're gonna get forehead-bonked like the V8 commercial. Seriously, you've grown up, and that's on both sites, so you can hate Runescape Classic all you want; you still turned out to be who you are.

Fish and Redsox were, and probably still are, great friends for you who both helped you to your feet and helped you walk on your own in Runescape, and I believe quite a bit of their friendship is what (even if just partially) influenced the positive changes in you that a lot of users have seen. And, to be honest, I'm glad you have such friends, on both Rune sites.

You said you guessed that Runescape was an influence... I'm pretty sure that guess is right. If someone plays a game and finds the devotion within themselves to get past losing everything, twice, and pursue the most fun aspects of the game that attract them anyway, that's something not everyone can say about themself. From hacked to having your biggest Runescape dream and the highest point in your favorite skill? That's a good ordeal that few people would go through, and I'm not sure if anyone from your age group would've been willing to do the same. Again, you matured. A lot.

You're not forced to play Runescape, though. A game is something for you to play and try to enjoy. You've had your fun on it, there's no denying that. It is possible that, because of the new updates, the fun for you in specific has passed, and you won't be ridiculed for it (at least not here as long as I watch the topic.) And it's also possible that, in due time, JaGeX will bring in something that you enjoy, or you may find new fun in an old skill or event. There's no guarantee, but there may be life in Runescape yet for you when all's said and done. However, though quite a large chunk of the village has quit Runescape, that very same fact is linked to any "decline" in Runevillage. We're a Runescape fansite that's losing touch with Runescape. What will that make us in the future if we don't re-attach ourselves to the game? We'll find out.

Finally... You want to thank us for welcoming you? I think we'll happily thank you for coming.

More often then you think. I'll elaborate. Nothing is preventing me from visiting, maybe a few small things, but I can definitely be as active as ever. The bad part, is I'm simply bored here. I'll still gladly visit to maybe ask my own question and such. But besides that it's fine.

Very nicely written post. While all the parties and such are gone, I hope you'll find some reason to continue to come back to RuneVillage.

If not, you will definitely be missed, and I wish you the best of luck. :)

To be honest I actually love the way you went from being the annoying guy who always thought he was funny to someone decent and pleasant to talk to. And I agree, it's been cool watching you "evolve". And thanks for mentioning me. 24's awesome.

I still have you on MSN but for the sake of completeness, it's been a pleasure, mate.
