So I havn't been here for a long time, and I probably won't be back, but there are some things I feel like I need to say before the site and the people left here go away.

When I joined in 2003 I was only 12 years old, I didn't have many friends in real life and I was alone playing Runescape most of the time. At the time I joined, like most of my time here, I didn't really integrate into the community. I made a few posts here and there, read some wonderful stories by people like Jaron and Ultima Cow, but for the most part I kept to myself and was just content to at least feel like I was part of a community. Those small interactions I did have though, they helped me more than I will probably ever understand. About a year after I joined, my parents began what would be a long and bitter divorce battle, and Runevillage during that time offered me a place to escape the fighting. I could go on the computer and come here and even if I wasn't the one posting a bunch or participating in the discussions, I still felt happy to be a part of this all.

So time went as it does, I got older and my life got better. I became a bit more social, found a good group of friends, and even started doing things outside my house. Even though my life was going pretty good, I still came back to Runevillage every chance I got because it had become a comfortable place for me. I still wasn't super active during highschool, but I had been here for multiple years by that point so I just felt at home. I knew all the inside jokes, knew who the big names in the community were, and even began to post a little more and make some friends.

Then during the whole rollback thing I really took to being more active here, I decided that I wanted to really be a part of the great community that I had been on the outskirts of for so long. Even though the site withered and slowly began to die during this time, I still had a great time. I was more involved than ever before and made a lot of great friends, the community really felt special to me at last. At some point I became a Legend and that was probably the happiest day for me here at Runevillage because to me at the time it was like I really was finally a part of the site.

I wish I could remember more than a few names, because there are so damn many of you who have meant so much to me over the years even if you didn't know it. You guys have been wonderful, you were everything I needed at different points of my life, and you helped me become the person I am today. I went from a depressed and almost friendless pre-teen to a happy and social adult and I really think Runevillage was the driving factor behind that.

Man... Reading all there post from old RV'ers makes me feel like I missed out. I wish I would have found this site when I first started RS because I could have met some pretty cool people (Still have don't get me wrong). But I just cant even imagine how awesome this site would have been back in the day.

It's been a pleasure, Scar. I knew you first as xe, and I recall that you were pretty involved with the ZB series (enough to be like a main side character in ZB3 I think? I dunno I need to read those again.)

Your story seems to corroborate what I remember, too. I don't know when you changed your name, but I remember that there was a day when I learned that xe, who I had always liked and considered a friend but hadn't seen in a while, and Scar, who was some guy I didn't know but seemed pretty cool, were actually the same person. That was a great day, because I felt like I'd never really lost touch with you after all, and you continued to be active on RV and, in my opinion, one of our best members.

I'm sorry to hear about your parents divorce battle those many years ago--I don't recall knowing about it, but I'm glad I was able to help make RuneVillage a place where you wanted to be during that time.
