So I've failed to be active around here for ages, here is my reasoning.
I decided to practically quit Scape more than a year ago, although I kept my membership and went on every few weeks for my kingdom. I started to get extremely annoyed at Jagex as a company and that's why I stopped playing, moral reasons.
They became particularly money hungry when the wheel of fortune update came out. This made some members quit, but not that many. Jagex's reasoning for not taking this update out was that people were using their spins, so they must have been enjoying it. In reality, who wouldn't use 2 free spins a day to get free items/money?
Next, I used to play Scape for the quests, back when quests were a guaranteed monthly thing. Although in the past year I think there's been like 5-6 quests? I'm not completly sure.
Nextly, I disagree'd with how Jagex was being run as a company. When the Gower brothers were in charged it was being run for the players benefit and not the companies benefit. I still didn't mind when Gerhard took over as he was running it quite well. But in the past year, a private investment company has taken control of 55% of the company. This means that everything is being done purely for profits.
Now, the EOC has been rolled out and I stand with a lot of other people who hate this update. There are many other games I could play if I wanted that style of combat.
I know that I am missing a lot out, but as I said, I practically quit more than a year ago.
Today, I quit my membership for the first time since 2005. I havn't bothered to post this on the RSOF because when I last checked, they had removed the rants forum due to the amount of complaints they were having about the company.

I will still be a member here and I will browse every few weeks. But my post count went from many posts a day to a single post a month.

Over the years I've met some amazing people thanks to this site and I feel that some recognition should go out now.

Jimmy: Jimmy was one of my first friends when I came to RV, I've been friends with him quite personally over all of the years, and I don't plan on changing that.

Halley: I became friends with Halley back when I was going for 99 firemaking, it was a common goal that we shared and we became friends over it.

Paidea: I havn't spoken to Paid in years, but there was a time when we spoke frequently

Zinyx: Also became friends with Zinyx early on, he was amusing to friends with, but Jimmy just had to steal him away from everyone!

Omega: There was a time where I played with Omega on Xbox quite a bit, but times have slipped away.

Bballin: BBP was a good friend for a while many years back, and he was good to talk to both on RV and RS.

Judge: Judge was one of the leader of the RVA who I spoke to quite a lot due to being a squad leader, he knew how to lead a community.

Mentos: Ha, now anyone on RV back in ~07 will remember the arguments between myself and Mentos, so many warnings were dished out but in the end we became friends.

Kikori: Although I didn't speak to Kik on RV much, or RS for that matter, I have spoken to him a lot about personal things and he is a good friend.

Rex: Used to talk to Rex a lot and we had some good conversations.

Willow: I was always a fan of Willow, he was one of the most friendly people on the community and he was great to talk to.

Donub: I was here when Donub was active, I watched him go through the ranks and saw how much he helped the website when he was active, he was a great asset to the community.

All of the people from the FOD forum back in 05-08: You made my first few years fun. I spent a lot of time viewing everyones galleries, watching their videos and being an active member/leader of the RVA.

Hiker: Now say what you will about Hiker, but he made this website, none of us would be here without him, so I thank him for that.

People I have missed: I have most likely failed to add people to this list, but I want to thank everyone for making my years here so good.


This is not a quitting post, this is a post saying why I have been so inactive, and it also states the reasons I am not quitting (The people).

I completely understand everything you have said about runescape. i probably would quit RS if i had any kind of a life while i am away at work.
as it stands, i will keep an eye out for your occasional posts and next time you are online, take a peek here and here. let me know what you think

I recently stopped my RuneScape membership that had been going since 2004 for much the same reasons. It's really quite the shame.
Haha, really? I didn't know you guys eventually became friends, that's actually pretty funny and awesome if you think about all those years ago.
