I just thought i'd post some neat music for your listening pleasure..... also to let you hear what got your parents and grandparents moving around....

toss a few quarters in the jukebox and enjoy!

To quote the immortal Alan Freed, "This, boys and girls, is rock 'n roll!"

Since it's almost halloween, I thought this song would put us in the spirit... many years after it's initial release this version was used as the theme for the movie "American Werewolf in London"

I always liked this one, although it was originally made as a spoof of rock 'n roll...

And of course you remember this from a fairly recent movie which changed the entire meaning of the song... but this is the original...

Here's a really sweet song if you happen to be in love... or ever have been...

Another movie tune from back in the day.... you can still hear this in most any gay bar in the world.... something totally unheard of when this song was popular...

Jay and the Americans sing a song with a message for all you guys...

Now to quiet things down a bit....

And how can you have rock 'n roll without Dion?? Dion recorded this when he was 16-17.

Let's hear from Jay and the Americans again... what a vocal range and a great set of lungs Jay Black has! (try not to laugh at the go-go dancers in this video!)

And while we're on the letter "J", how 'bout Dr.Jay Segal and The Tokens?? Dr.Jay *really* is a doctor (PhD) and made the original hit recording of this when he was 16... i couldn't find a period recording, but this one is great... just imagine the old gray headed guy is 16.. :)

enjoy!

Those are awesome, Hiker.
My dad loves all that music so I grew up with those songs. That and Motown that my mom loves. I had forgotten about the Fleetwoods. Run Around Sue is one of my all time favorite songs and Janie loves The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I sing it to her sometimes and she always laughs at me.
Thanks for the memories!

How can you showcase Dion without The Wanderer.

And I'll throw some Paul Anka onto the jukebox for some extra bopping. :P

Nice choices though Hiker!

I'm actually a BIG fan of that era of music. Particularly the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, and my favorite, Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons.

Oh Hiker...
What a fine taste of music you have, especially for someone of your generation... not saying you're old, of course.. just that you're not young ;)
You seem to be into the Motown/Acapella groups, rather than the swing music of the time.. I like it.. :P
How was Beethoven back then anyways?
Was he as prolific as they say he was?
