I concur. We must lynch him now for the sake of the metagame, we MUST teach people that they can't go around claiming "anniversary" and expect leniency. Topsummoner.

What do you mean? It wasn't very subtle, I doubt anyone could have missed that

I loved the movie, looking forward to the third

I thought he just grabbed a scrap piece of metal or something, and even if I saw it was a shield I wouldn't think to make the connection to Captain America :>_<:

Is that it right there? Just below Tony's right (our left) arm. Looks like it still needs some work.

There was a much clearer shot in the movie when one of those SHIELD guys hands it to him, it's indeed missing some pieces

Which is odd considering Vibranium (the material cap's shield is made of) is supposed to be unbreakable practically.
Hokay:
1) When Fury is debriefing Stark about the Avengers Initiative, there are blips on the eastern coast referencing the Hulk, in the north in a polar ice cap referencing Cap, one in the sea referencing Namor the Submariner, and one in the middle of Africa referencing Black Panther. There is also one in Europe possibly referencing Red Skull.
2) The man who gives Ivan Vanko (Whiplash) his fake passport says he is a part of the ten rings, a reference to the Mandarin, another Iron Man Villain.
3) Ivan Vanko's passport says he is Boris Turgenev, who was the second Crimson Dynamo (yet another Iron Man Villain). In the comics, Boris came to America with Black Widow in order to kill Anton Vanko.
4) A scene from The Incredible Hulk is playing on one of Stark's monitors in his office, Nick Fury also says he has "a bigger problem."
5) The briefcase is a reference to the fact that Tony Stark used to keep the ironman armor in a briefcase for quick use, and the fact that it was silver is a reference to the Silver Centurion Armor Tony used in the comics to defeat the Iron Monger (the villain from the first movie: Obadiah Stane).
6) The man who speaks to Tony about an idea for an electric jet says his name is Henry Pym, another future avenger.
7) Obviously a reference to Stark's alcoholism with the constant blood level checking, and then the eventual drunken scene pulled A LOT from the Iron Man comic "Devil in a Bottle." Rhodey in the comic also stops Tony from endangering civilians and pilots the iron man suit while Tony is recovering.
8) I didn't catch this one, but apparently during the race the second driver from the UK is named Chapman, a reference to the character Union Jack.
9) Shield asks Tony to become a "consultant" much like he becomes during the crossover event Marvel Civil War. Tony eventually becomes leader of SHIELD
10) Thor's hammer is found in New Mexico because that's where he came back in his most recent run due to his alter ego Donald Blake finding the hammer there.
11) Not really a reference, but whoever designed Tony's suit took a lot of reference to Tony's (almost) latest suit Extremis

Also: The person DJing at Tony's Party was the actual DJ AM, who is now dead. He played a song I believe off the DJ Hero soundtrack which he helped create.
Furthermore in the comics:
1) Tony Stark now has a repulsor rig in his chest, much like Stark in the movie.
2) Pepper is a love interest again.
3) Pepper is the CEO of Tony's newest company.
Getting closer and closer!

That's all I remember for now.

Taken from Wikipedia:

Quote:
In the 2008 film Iron Man, Captain America’s shield appears 1 hr 25 min 23 sec into the movie at the point where Pepper Potts comes in on Tony trying to get out of his damaged armor; the shield is visible in the distance below Tony's right arm. According to a tie-in comic, Tony's father Howard Stark created the shield. Tony subsequently used the alloy of a prototype to create his armor.

In the 2010 film Iron Man 2, Captain America's shield appears again, halfway through the film, when Stark builds a particle accelerator in his home to create a new element for his arc reactor. While preparing the piping for the accelerator, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson finds the uncompleted shield in a box from which Stark previously got parts for the machine.

This would explain the shield being uncompleted (it looks uncompleted as opposed to broken)

That makes sense then, I am kinda pumped at all the subtle/not-so-subtle hints that Marvel has been droppig in it's movies.

Like the canisters in The Hulk that referenced Cap.

I also love how the last page or so of this topic has been Spoiler tags lol

I saw the original Iron Man on the 2nd of May, then saw this back on the 16th. :D It was really good indeed, but having seen the two movies practically back-to-back, I think I prefer the first one better. The dialogue just seemed wittier, I guess.

Robert Downey Jr. usually seems like a smug jerk in person, but man, if he isn't an excellent actor. :D

The fight scene at the end was terrible, but I must say, the Thor's hammer was fantastic

I thought the movie was rather good, I actually hope they don't go all "phoenix saga" and just keep making more iron man solo movies. I really don't need tie-ins with other superheroes... in fact I'd rather they avoid it.

Really, Iron man is about my favorite superhero. I think adding others would cheapen it since the magic of Iron man is it's more believable like a "could we do this" kind of way. Adding bs powered people with magic and elves and fairydust just ruins it for me.

Well, they'll be adding Iron Man to the Avengers movie, and I believe there is a third solo movie planned for after that one
