How come I only got to hear of it yesterday?! :o :(
The original authors are currently working on a new animated series which follows 70 years after the Fuzzy Bunny!

http://avatarthelastairbenderonline.com ... ls-avatar/

Quote:
Nickelodeon said in a release that “The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra.”

Korra’s quest eventually leads her to Republic City–the epicenter of the world of “Avatar.” A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang’s son, Tenzin, in the ways of airbending.

I'd hate to nitpick (who am I kidding, I'd love to), but it's not an anime, really (produced in America and all)

I've known about Legend of Korra for a little while now, but not much is known yet

What is known, is that it will be a miniseries of about only 12 episodes, so there won't be any filler or episodes that don't advance the story line, which will certainly keep it exciting, but it won't last very long, unfortunately

Also the original cast is dead, we may see them in flashbacks, but that's it (well Aang will probably be a spirit guide to Korra)

Oh well, that's not so bad. :awesome: Nitpick excused. :P

I'm rewatching the whole first series now, it's been awhile.

Aw, that's a shame. I'll probably keep up with it anyway. The original series rather impressed me quite a lot (once it got past most of the first season anyway.)

I'm gonna have to watch the entire original series. Don't think I've seen it all or in order for that matter. I really liked it though.

the whole cast isn't necessarily dead, Aang is the only one that has for sure died. It doesn't take place that much longer after The Last Airbender and they have shown that people in their universe live for a long time.

That was something one of the creators said apparently, so I'm guessing it's true

Just finished the series today. I like getting caught up in stories, but I HATE when they end. I feel lost now that it's over. Hopefully Korra comes soon enough and I can get wrapped up again for another 12 episodes and feel all empty again.

The creators released an image of what Korra looks like: http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/03/ ... od=WSJBlog

I rewatched the entire series recently; it was just as good if not better the second time around. There's no way I'd miss this.

But..."next year"? :( Are you sure it's still only going to be 12 episodes, Jeroen? I know things take a while, but the length of production on this surprises me nonetheless.

Very recently Nickolodeon has ordered 14 more episodes. Also, several questions got answered by the creators here: http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2011/03/ ... ors-speak/

According to them, we'll get an answer to what happened to Zuko's mom, but not directly in the show.

Greetings,
Glodenox

Greetings,
Glodenox

So either the second season of Korra will be 14 episodes, or there will be a new story that's 14 episodes

At least that's what I gathered from it

Awesome, thanks for the link, that's really cool! I can't wait to see it. They're pretty right about how even the viewers have grown up; Avatar ended like in Summer 2008, right? It'll have been 4 whole years, and that's not even from the start of the show, but rather the conclusion.
