Just back from watching the new Bond-movie. I believe it has only been shown in UK/Sweden/France so far (yay), and it coming in rest of Europe in about a week and in US in about 2 weeks. But here's a short review of what I thought of it. Not any specific details about the plot or such in *this* spoiler-tag, just more general comments about it, but putting it in spoiler-tags just in case someone doesn't want to see it. :P
My rating: 2.5/5
Hidden:
I don't particularly dislike Daniel Craig, but I much prefer some of the former Bond-actors. If you're a fan of Craig's Bond, you'll probably appreciate the movie more than I did. Compared to most other Bond-films, I'd consider this one a disappointment, for several reasons.
1. When it comes to the action-scenes, be it fighting or various chases, I *much* prefer the style in the older movies where focus is on the chase/fight rather than just having the camera change angle twenty times per second.
2. The plot is far from the best. Very much like "First I kill this guy, now I need to kill this guy, and now that guy, and now that guy...".
3. This one is in direct connection with Casino Royale when it comes to the plot, the story just continues, and judging by the ending, will do so in the next one too. Too many loose ends to just stop there. I prefer the Bond-movies standing alone and just hinting at eachother with small details rather than the whole plots being dependent on eachother.
4. I don't mind the length of it being a bit shorter, about 2 hours is quite fine. And I guess it's easier to do that with a plot partly covered in the previous (and next) movie(s).

All in all, it's worth the watch. But if you're a big fan of the older Bond-movies, don't have all too high expectations.

I'm very much a fan of the new Bond and the new Bond movies.

Therefore, I'm going in with insanely high expectations.

But because I'll be in an easy-to-amaze mood, I'll be amazed even if the movie was 5 minutes long with its highlight being the pre-credits fall-through-glass fight scene. So I'll definitely like Quantum of Solace.

So yeah.

^ I'm with andrey. I enjoy the older bonds as well, but really daniel craig and pierce brosnan are james bond for me, so their movies rate higher :D

74% on RottenTomatoes, since it's out in the United Kingdom. Nowhere close to Casino Royale's 94%, but it's still optimistic.

Casino Royale was horrid IMO. There are *so* many places where it should have ended if one or another character had done something ridiculously simple; they were easily negligent at best. This had better be better, or I'm officially calling a jumped shark at Q's death.

I'd say that's a pretty good call. Not that I was ever much of a Bond fan, but it's seriously lost its touch. I really can't say I cared for the Craig Bond, but I didn't really like the movie, either (for a number of reasons I'll spare you all from). So, Quantum of Solace? Can't really be bothered.

Bleh. The Bond series needs to die. I can't even remember what happened in Casino Royale so I'll be giving this one a miss. Not too fond of Daniel Craig either, even if he is a local boy.
