After 11 years of waiting it's finally coming... that's what they say at least.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... n-a-gundam

Turn A finally gets the green light for an english version!
It's about damn time too. Seriously, I've had an entire niece created in the time...
between when this came out and how long I waited for it to get a dubbed version.
Hell in the time this has taken, two gundam shows have been created and dubbed
with a third on the way!

Even if the english sucks miserably I'll be happy to be able to finally buy a dvd set
that's actually translated by somebody who knows english...

Anyway, I am greatly pleased... Now to wait on the dvd set...

*************

The last I've heard is now Turn A will be released 2011. That's all Bandai's panel said at AX 2011. It's not much to go on, no english cast, no specific date, nothing.
But if that hold true the dubbed set should finally be out within the year.

But you know this show (or so it seems) so you've already seen the subs, I'm guessing?

And you're really excited for a dub of a show you've already seen?

Well, good for you I guess, but I don't get it, I wouldn't want to watch the dubbed versions of the shows I watch if they paid me for it

Luckily this isn't 1989 anymore, so most dubs now are pretty good.
I don't speak Japanese so it's hard to tell a good voice actor from a bad one there.

The set I have I'm not even certain is authentic, infact
I'm fairly sure it's a HongKong knock off.

So a full set that I can actually play on most dvd players would be nice.

Bandai has been pretty good about their dubs as of recently
I thought the voice overs on Gundam 00 were rather good
and about what I expected when I first saw it.
I'm rather confident that they'll do well on Turn A.

You'd think so. Sadly, that's really not the case most of the time.

Well... avoid the kid's shows and the dubs will be better.

I watch Seinen series, actually (Target audience being 18-30 year old men). Those are the ones that get the worst dubs.

It's not the category it's the company.
Bandai in general does good dubs so I'm fairly confident it will be good.

This topic isn't going to be an argument about subs vs dubs so just drop that.
It never ends..

So keep it on topic about Turn A and closely related.

But this is about Turn A! It's a show from ages back that's going straight to DVD. Bandai will treat it just like they did Haruhi and shove out the dub knowing that most of the fanbase is just going to watch it subbed anyway.

I was hardly arguing that all subs are better than all dubs. I was simply stating that most dubs actually tend to be pretty rushed. Then you called me a child and I simply pointed out that it was actually the shows aimed at children that get the better dubs!

Granted had you not accused me of watching kid shows I probably wouldn't have continued posting to defend myself from your ignorant accusation.

But since you seem to want to act like a forum mod suddenly I guess I can leave it be. ^_^

It's also their 20th anniversary show from 1999, and being released now after their 30th anniversary
I'd imagine they would put some work into it.
Besides, other Gundam shows that weren't ever aired but still dubbed
did rather well like Z and ZZ. They might not be as flashy modern as Gundam 00
but Turn A is still a rather significant addition.

Part of why it hadn't been fully licensed until now is that when Turn A came out in japan
Z and ZZ, X and a few others still hadn't been licensed in the US. Which Turn A being
"all encompassing" series which refers a lot to both Z and ZZ, they thus didn't license Turn A first.
Then came Seed... Seed2, 00, and now Gundam Unicorn (???) which they instantly made
tons of money off of which further delayed Turn A.

I don't expect that Turn A will get the same love that Gundam 00 did...
That one got licensed and dubbed so fast, that they were airing English episodes
before the series finished production in Japan...

Why do people keep digging the Gundam franchise out of its five dollar grave?

It's never been dead.
There's consistently been a new Gundam series just about every year for the past 30 years.
This is just one that never got dubbed until recently.
