While it's true that Aizen doesn't really look like Isshin, neither does Ichigo to be honest

Speaking of Isshin, when exactly was he a captain? If I remember correctly, he left before the whole Vizard thing, which was back when Aizen was a relatively new captain. Also, which squad was Isshin captain of, and why did he leave? Yeah, I know, exposition is probably coming up in the next few chapters.

I don't think there was really a better way for them to bring Isshin back into the picture with Ichigo. I'm pretty glad we're not getting a bunch of flashback chapters right now explaining everything either. They're just going straight at it.

Yeah, he's Aizen. Heck, I bet if Isshin started with the exposition, Aizen would have joined right in with even more and turned it into an exposition-off. But at least we get to see Gin's bankai.
And where the heck is Urahara? He's really, really late, and he knows this crap is going on because he's the one behind the whole barrier thing.
