If they really want to create an opening wouldn't their best bet be to all go into bankai and overwhelm him with the abilities he may not know yet

But then Kubo wouldn't make as much money with dramatic cliffhangers and unrevealed abilities.

Thing is though, if Aizen were to use his ability, and just make the others think they're fighting him, wouldn't Ichigo then see the others randomly fighting the air while Aizen is just standing around a few feet further (or a lot of feet further)

Or in other words, couldn't he coordinate the others

I don't have an issue with Hitsugaya. I actually like him. I just get tired of seeing the same captain fight everyone.

4. Most popular character in Japan

Ichigo fits 1-3, pretty much to a larger degree than Hitsugaya. Plus, as far as point 1, Hitsugaya has the excuse that he's awesome enough to be a captain at...however old he is. Young. You get the point. Ichigo has even more plothax (I believe we agreed he was at super plotkai 7 or so), is fueled by "friendship" (read: hurting his friends is the best way to poke his berserk button), and has quite possibly the highest number of fights in the series. Yes, he's the main character, but even so, he gets in quite a lot of fights.
As far as popularity, I'm not sure how Hitsugaya got so popular...

Seriously, he doesn't even compare, Ichigo is all "raaawr, me smash" and Goku has skill and gets stronger through hard work and a bit of luck, whereas Ichigo gets stronger solely through his luck

Actually, in Ichigo's second fight with Ulquiorra he got stronger by dying. His hollow form was remarkably quiet.

But for pretty much the rest of the fights he's won, that's true.

So...how are they supposed to beat Aizen now? Assuming Gin's gloating is somewhat accurate (he's definitely overconfident in Aizen's abilities, but Aizen is massacring captains one after another with little effort), Ichigo can't beat him even with his new Hollow form and if Aizen doesn't use his shikai (not to mention his bankai, which is probably equally off-the-wall).

Aizen is pwnage enough without even using his shikai. If he pops a ressureccion, they're all screwed.
