This anime is super high quality, except the first episode and you'll understand why...
Once you see the first episode, do not stop watching, the first episode might seem kinda dumb, but it's not really part of the storyline...

This anime is revolves around Haruhi Suzumiya and is narrated by Kyon. It's about how Haruhi is always looking for aliens, espers and time travelers, but instead they end up doing other miscellaneous adventures such as; battling giant Cave crickets, defeating the Computer Tech club, playing in a popular music club, dancing, making movies, playing card games, looking for supernatural forces, playing baseball, playing footbal, taking leisure cruises, solving misteries and so on. The SOS Brigade lives on!

As of now there's 12 episodes and a new episodes comes out every week, and it's a comedy/dancing/ecchi/action anime. Really fun.

I just finished the last ep, 14. Such a great series..they better make another one...
I think there are several books this is based on, so the anime series only covered the "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu" book, so hopefully they'll have another series to cover another one of the books. Pwnage storyline and animation though, best series I've seen.

-three years ago which gave her the power to control everything.
-about the mysterious shadow she saw on the island.
-about the other people who saw the emblem that need saving from the closed space.

Spoilers.... don't look 'til you watched it..

-I think it wasn't that she gained powers 3 years ago. It's more like she's god or something right, so she just created this world 3 years ago, but made it so that we think its existed for 6 billion years.

-I think the shadow was created by her too. It was just something to make things more interesting and less boring. Though I'm not completely sure about this.

-I think all the people were saved by the Esper organization.

I think they will have a next series though, The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya or something. There's a next book and it's being translated, too. So far only the prologue of the next book's been translated though.

Think I'll wait for the dub personaly, not quite sure if it's my kinda thing
or what. I'd probably need a better description... and also probably one
that isn't just chock full of spoilers. Looks to be rather good quality
animation at least, I don't know who makes it though, but if/when it
is dubbed most modern anime is done rather well so I'll wait til then.

It's made by Kyoto Animation..

Spoiler's aren't that much of an issue really, because the show kind of shows spoilers within itself, when it randomly warped a few months ahead of the story in one episode, and then goes back in the next.
At the end of each episode, in the preview you always hear Kyon and Haruhi announcing the next ep. Usually Haruhi says the wrong number like "Next time on Episode blah", and then Kyon corrects like "No, actually, next time on episode bleh." What Haruhi says is actually the chronological order of the episodes, while Kyon just says the order they were aired in. So Haruhi is actually right, and the chronological episode order would be
2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9

The fansub by [a.f.k.] is really well done though. Dubbed anime is ok I guess, but they have great voices now in the original, so I'd recommend it. I think they got an actual singer or something to do Haruhi's voice, since the voiceactor for Haruhi sing's the OP and part of the ED for the show, as well as when Haruhi sings in the show.

It'll take a while for it to be dubbed if ever, since it isn't even licensed yet. It's really good as a scifi and philosophical show, despite how it may look.

And then you can always read the books. Before I did, I never realized how much plot is in the first episode. I used to think it was a bunch of random mistakes, but there's actually a whole plot in there [novel spoiler! not in the anime!]
[spoil]about Haruhi wanting to believe the stuff in the movie is real so much that she accidentally makes the cat able to talk in real life and Mikuru really have heat vision, which is why Nagato is seen jumping to stop Mikuru in one of the heat vision shooting scenes and why the cat talks.[/spoil]

Watched it because Azn made me.

It's really good. The last sixty seconds of the first episode pretty much saved the entire thing from being the silliest thing ever.

A lot of parts of Episode 4 make a lot more sense after Episode 14, including Haruhi's decision not to put Mikuru's hair in a ponytail. Things you just don't catch the first time around.

I personally think she always had her abilities, but didn't have any reason to use it until she realized just how insignificant she was three years prior.

Well if the second puts him off, than he probably won't like the whole series. :wink:

Also, according to the ending of Episode 14...did Haruhi actually know her brigade members' identities for (what would have been) Episodes 7 through 14? Because they were cast as such in the movie, of course...

Not exactly...

I don't want to spoil anything really, but the end of episode 14 might mislead you a bit as to what happens afterwards. :wink:

Just finished watching it a few minutes ago. Truly an awesome series

!. Soon I'm going to re-watch it in chronological order and see if I pick anything else up lol. It was pretty neat how the events unfolded in the broad casted order even though I was left at times asking myself "what the heck just happened?"
