I'm wondering, anyone here do fansubbing? :D

I do. I work for both Philanthropy Fansubs, where I am a timer and typesetter, and then Instantz, where I do karaoke and hopefully backup timer/typesetter/whatever is needed, if needed. :)

In Philanthropy I work on Seto no Hanayome, but will be moving to another project soon. Instantz I'll be doing One Piece at first, then move to other shows they do as I go. :)

Then when Sekai-Fansubs starts I will be the Karaoke creator and a timer/typesetter.

I'm currently learning better karaoke making, and then gonna try to learn editing. Until the only thing left is translating, which I will hopefully be okay-ish with after all that subbing x3

And, does anyone here do fansubbing? :P And if so, what groups and shows? :D

Fansubbers > you. :P :D

Unfortunately, I don't do any sorts of fan-subbing, mainly because I'm not good at Japanese, and I lack time too. XD

Translator is only one part of the process. Timing, typesetting, editing, encoding and more has to be done, too. :P

Well, as long as no links are actually posted, I suppose this thread is alright. :-s

I don't work with any fansubs, but I DO scanlate. I order Young King Ours monthly and usually scan Hellsing from it, thus making me a raw provider for a friend of mine, whose Demon Rin, the best Hellsing group currently. (Max 7 = total CRAP and Phase 3 = Likes to pass LQ-MQ off as HQ and makes mistranslations, not to the same degree as Max7 though.)

Oh Fluff, other than speed currently, what in instantz would convince me to watch One Piece from them and not wait for Vegapunk? XD

Mmm, that's a hard one...

They got good subs. The font they use bugs me to hell though, but that's, like, irrelevant :P I asked for it to be changed, we'll see how that goes...

Aaand, they're fast. Not like Vegapunk. It's good, fast subs in good quality. :3 I only joined like, yesterday, though. XD And found about it... mmm... yesterday! XD - I was looking for the OP ep, lol. They even got the movie out :O

Atleast try it out. :3

Hm, I'm kind of wondering, if you're subbing for a show that you yourself are a fan of, doesn't it spoil it for you to watch the show once or even multiple times before while timing/editing it without knowing what's going on?

Not really. Atleast I haven't experienced that. I usually pre-time while the show is being translated and since I don't know Japanese it doesn't spoil it for me... However, it is true that it could, but I guess it depends on the person. I use the audio to work with, so that way I don't have to watch the episode to sub and thus don't know what's happening exactly, even though I get a hunch.

Also, I'm the type that can read the manga, then watch a good show multiple times. Some people can't. It really all depends on the person...

I do fansubbing for fun, and thus, when I'm doing it I have fun, whether I'm getting spoilers or not before I watch the episode itself. :P

Also, you get the eps before the coh-myuu-nee-tee, and that's another plus. :D

I'm really not sure what group my friend is working with, but sometimes I help him translate and look up Kanji and junk for him.

Also, another friend of mine from georgia translates black cat and some bleach last time I spoke to him.

Would if I could, then maybe I wouldn't have to wait so long to read the
next chapter on mangas I'm following or have to watch Turn A in these
lousy subs. I might try learning it some day, but I just don't have time.

Vegapunk is toooooooooooooooo slow. >.<

Well, I'm not in a fansub group, too much tedious work, hehheh. I'm lazy, I know. :P
