Any tips? Suggestions? Recommendations?

Is there a story mode (or missions) I can play through first to get a handle on the game, before I try playing online?

There are no "missions" in Minecraft. It's just live and build in your infinite world! I would suggest setting your would to peaceful at first to avoid creepers, and later turn them back on when you want to do more fighting type things. I mainly play on creative mode unless playing with others, like back when we had the Shenanigans map.

Also there is no in game guides to ANYTHING so a crafting guide would help, so:

But besides all that, if your not in creative, then punch trees, make pick axe, get coal, make torches, and try not to die!

One of the best things about minecraft are the mods, once you get pro at the game there are some questing mod packs out there.

Mod wise I suggest Tekkit. It like quadruples the content. That's just me though.

The game crashes a ton. Like, 5 or 6 times before i'm able to load a previous save. Once i'm in a world, though, i'm pretty good. It's only crashed twice in-game over the last 3 days.


Does anyone have any tips for reducing lag?

set clouds to no, detail low, and render distance to like 8? that should help.

but if its crashing before it even starts then i dont know whats up with that, odd.
