so i logged in, not sure why...
but nothing is the same, i don't remember anything and people are talking about items that i can't even begin to imagine what they are.
can anyone give me some sort of idea what the aim of the game is anymore?

It's to make jagex money. Unfortunately.

They have done some really cool things in the last little while (like hiring an orchestra to perform some of the music for the game), but most of RS is there to make as much real life cash as possible. They've even gone as far as allowing people to pay for in-game items.

In the form of content, they added max and completionist capes, meaning there are incentives to max out skills and do everything required for the cape. Looks slightly easier (but by no means easy) than player made guidelines on who has truely "completed" the game.

There are new areas which make training certain skills ridiculously easy. Ex, Runespan for Runecrafting.
