Well I haven't played for more then a day since 010 quit around dungonerring came around. Im getting a computer again soon. I know very little of rs2 and nothing of eoc rs3 etc. I want to play rs2 also I think I'll be ok on that so can people just explain a little about eoc and rs in general nowadays for someone like me who'll be coming back in a few weeks?

Eoc is weird. Fighting gives you energy(called adrenaline) and you use it to perform special attacks. Each set up(scim+shield VS dual scims VS 2h VS mage gear VS range etc) will let you use specific special attacks. HP is associated with your level plus armour bonuses. Your combat is now your defense level + your highest combat stat + 2

it is fairly active! there are around 25 worlds running. each has a couple hundred people online

You can now dual wield. Yeaaaaaaaah.

Ranged and magic got pretty buffed to be on par with melee. New tiers of equipment, magic spells requiring less runes, etc.

Different melee weapons don't really have much differences nowadays. They are now adjusted so that all the one-handed weapons of the same tier deal the same amount of damage per second, with two-handed weapons of the same tier dealing 1.5 times that of one-handed weapons. And weapons only have one way of attacking (stab, slash or crush), compared to old times when most weapons can do two different styles, and spears can do all three.
