What does everyone think? Having only watched the video, it actually sounds like a very solid idea to me.

40-50% of active players buying rs gold from gold farmers. Sounds like a crock to me.

I have played F2P games with cash shop before and when Jagex introduce this, they're going down that very path, maybe not to become fully F2P but the path of Pay2Win gaming style.
People are going to sell their Bonds as high as possible to get most money out of them and it will make them willing/able to pay higher prices for high end gear, which means the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. But people who really don't care about the rules will still buy gp from bots, they're probably more reliable

I don't quite get the idea. This is to remove gp from the game like a money sink?

It works as a money sink because you can spend in game GP on your membership. This dumps a bunch of the GP that's being generated by bots into nothing, since it's being traded for something that isn't an in game item.

Oh, okay. So far it would cost a lot of gp to get one day of membership.

I am just on my break and dont have time to look up more info.
Is it now possible to buy GP from jagex?

It most certainly is not! That would be quite the controversy! I know it seems like that's the way they're heading but it hasn't happened quite yet heh.

Bonds are being sold for like 6 million each apparently? Possibly less now.

If I were poor in real life, this would be a pretty good alternative.

Based on what i've seen recently, RWT already sell 10M for like $3. That is pretty cheap compared to how it's been. Still not tempted to actually buy gold with real money, and likely won't ever be

You buy the Bonds on their site for real-life money, and can then sell them in-game on either the Grand Exchange or to other players for Coins.

So as it stands, you are currently paying $ 5.00 to be given an in-game item that you can sell for 6-7m.

A money sink would remove the money from the game, this only transfers the money from one player to another.

My apologies, I misunderstood. I thought he was saying that you could purchase gold bonds from Jagex with GP. If that isn't the case, then I'm also confused on how this takes GP out of the market?

It doesn't take money out of the game, but it's supposed to stop the money from gold farmers getting into the game.

Player 1 buys Bonds from Jagex with real money.
Player 2 buys Bonds from Player 1 with rs gp.

Typically in cash shop this means the cash shop items are sold in game higher and higher. It always drives the inflation faster than the bots do.
I don't know if Mark Gerhard is straight up lying or if his researchers just haven't looked at what goes on in the gaming industry. But based on his claim that 40-50% of players buy rs gp from websites, I think I'm leaning toward the former and it's just an argument to make it sound legitimate.

if people are going to buy gold from gold selling sites/bots nothing will stop them just now they will be able to get more gold for there buck, also now legit players can buy bonds and sell them in ge (buy gold tbh).

Just adds fuel to the fire, jagex seem to be milking this game/players for all its worth till its dried up and thrown away.

I bet before this game is done we will see stuff like Level up Tombs, that auto grant 1 level only $5.
