It is similar to the old system before EOC, but is it actually better at making normal fights easier/faster than before, when not considering special attacks? I don't know if xp per hour training with momentum is about the same as before or not.

I will try to look something up for you after I'm done work. Cause I am typically not on EoC. Let alone training combat

it looks like if you have 50 str, you can get around 40,000 exp per hour while using momentum. The example i found, showed these experience amounts being gained on deadly red spiders.

by the time you get up to 90str, you will be able to get around 225,000 exp per hour

You're always better off using abilities rather than Momentum. However, Momentum does let you somewhat AFK combat which is an advantage in of itself.

What weapon were you using?
I agree about abilities being better since there are threshold and ultimates that deal a lot of damage. But is the exp the same as pre EOC with momentum? It is hard to guess.

Exp is drastically higher if you've got decent quality of weapons.

This pretty much sums it up.

experience gain is quite a bit faster now, as you kill things much faster and many creatures have seen their experience buffed to *more* than it was pre-eoc. But Jagex also seems interested in buffing monsters slowly but surely to make up for players' newfound power in EoC, but again, the experience they give goes up as well in the case of dragons and slayer monsters.

I use Momentum almost exclusively, but 90% of what I do is Slayer. For those long tasks where the monsters aren't going to put up a fight anyway, it's good to use while I watch TV or browse other sites. My favorites tasks to use Momentum on are Wyrms, polypore creatures, Hellhounds, and Jadinkos. Tasks I don't use momentum on are the harder ones like metal dragons, as they have quite a bit more health so it's much faster to just kill them with abilities. Whereas creatures like hellhounds or jadinkos are going to die at almost the same rate when it's momentum vs user abilities the difference is arbitrary and you can use momentum.

It's never a good idea to use momentum on any type of boss, and it's pretty dumb to use it in dungeoneering. It's really great for lengthy, but easy, slayer tasks or if you're grinding out levels, or camping a lower-level monster for certain drops.

For example, I can rock out a task of 200ish mutated jadinko males in well under an hour if I'm focused enough, so the 200k xp/hr rate is certainly plausible. A hellhound task is quite literally a 20 minute task so your rate there is over 200k/hr also.

It really just depends on what your stats are and what you're doing. The exp rate is a bit higher than pre-eoc, and killing most things is much easier if you have the gear. I would say that your equipment affects your damage and kill speed than ever before, as if you use anything less than a GWD weapon or chaotic you're going to see a big drop off in speed, damage, and accuracy. An abyssal whip or dragon equipment is needed at the very least if you have the levels. But still, when compared to higher-tier weaponry, they're kind of garbage.

To make a long story short, I would say that yes, Momentum is more exp than pre-eoc in most cases. Sometimes it's a lot more, sometimes the difference is marginal but I would say it's always more. But if you aren't lazy like me using abilities yourself is the way to go.

I'm pretty lazy and use momentum for just about all slayer tasks, which is the way i train combat for now. The game really is getting progressively easier now, but for those of us that have been laying a while, we might appreciate it more.

Just did a test myself for f2p melee. Did the old rune scim training strength, even though i maxed the stat already. I used to get around 25k/hour on karamaja on the previously lvl 45 skeletons, and using momentum i got 24k. Using abilities including overpower and rejuvinate got me 22k. Looks like its less xp, but there is still the difference in having rejuvination meaning spending more time in training areas. In this one experience, there is little difference at least for exp.

It's Probably different for members equipment and areas for pre EOC and EOC. Maybe it's because of the xp changes now that we get xp after a fight is one like in RS classic? I think xp did decrease a little overall per fight
