I haven't bought a console since the PS2 but I think I might go for the xbox one. I have no idea why but the design reminds me of the NES.

It's not backwards compatible. Just FYI.

Most underwhelming console since the Atari 5600.

Jeez, what's up with that controller? There wasn't anything hugely wrong with the 360 controller.

Is there anything hugely wrong with the Xbox One controller?

Well, I guess not. But I think the X1 controller is still weird. It reminds me of thisin a way.

I'm tired of people putting their Start and Select buttons where they're awkward to get to. I get it with the Dualshock. There's not a lot of space on that controller. The Xbox controller has ample room below to put them right where you can tap them with your thumb, though. I've always liked that 3rd party companies seem to prefer putting them there unless they're using microsoft's design.

That being said. This console is not going over well http://www.gamespot.com/twitter-battle/xbox-vs-ps4/

No surprise at the one-sided nature of the result.

Wow, I'm actually surprised at the apparent lack of discussion on this topic at the moment. Hell, I wormed my way out of the woodwork looking for a place I could engage in one which I was familiar with.

I'll admit, I missed most of the "show" yesterday. I got home at 18:40, xbox.com/en-GB/ was down, and so I had to boot up my 360 (which had been in retirement for 2 years until last week). After downloading the updates and apps, I got to see the ghost trailer and that was it. As a result I'll admit my opinions are based on what I've read and talked about at work (please keep this in mind).

If the above didn't give it away, I'm not a xbox gamer anymore but I do still like the console. It just doesn't cater for how I game anymore, which is almost entirely made up of JRPGs and MMOs. The xbox one concepts are pretty cool. I, for one, like the idea of no used game sales (mostly). Yes, I can picture a bunch of kids are going to be thinking "But I can't buy Halo 4 for £22 anymore!", but there are people out there like myself, who work hard coding, and they deserve those royalties for that sale, not HMV or GAME. My only concern with this is that ex-production games are going to end up being their weight in gold. If I learn two years down the road, when playing on a friends Xbox One, that "George's Super Fighter Tournie 7!" is an amazing game, but is out of production, how do I buy it? From an Amazon trader at £110.00 a pop? My hope is that, like PSN, the vast, if not all, games can be purchased by download. That'll massively alleviate my concerns.

My other concerns is the also online thing. I don't have a problem with this too much, but I do dislike that i can't do stuff just because I'm offline. If my internet's down, I'd like to play my games still, but I can't because of a failure at BT? A little harsh. It also destroys social gaming. Me and my friends often game at each other's houses, one of us bringing the required console. I'm sure that one of the guys has painted with walls with lead, and the wifi there is terrible, it often means that we can't sign into live. This is why I disagree with the always online feature

Games, I'll hold comment on. All i will say at the moment, is I am disappointed that CoD got the finalé. That game needs to stop, just like The Sims and X-Factor in my opinion. it has run it's course and I'm sure we could feed an entire 3rd world country with a single rack of ribs from that cash cow.

Hardware, well, I want to see more of the PS4 before I comment as well. it's all well and good saying it's got a 8 core AMD process, and 8 Gig's of DDR3 RAM (if memory serves), but if the PS4 some along saying "Well i have 12 cores, and 16 Gig's of DDR4!" or something stupid, it suddenly pales in comparison. Price does go along side hardware though, so that is a key point.

I imagine that once again the Xbox one will be the console of the masses (in Europe and the America's), and as such cheaper, but they may well be due to slightly lower specs to a almost unrevealed PS4, which'll dominate my closet genre :)

So, anyone prepared for a prepared for a discussion? Heh.

Moose out.

Xbox One: Only one person will enjoy it, Microsoft!

Online once every 24 hrs and you basically can't lend out games because each game is downloaded once to your user.

There is still time before the unveil and actual release, so there may be changes. I'm not getting any next gen consoles for a while in any case. Surprised about the name as many probably are. I didnt think it would be the 720 or xbox next, but xbox one?

Because going in numerical order is for bitches.

Quite disappointed with this console. I enjoy the 360, but this just looks stupid. Not everything has to be touch oriented or motion-controlled, people. Come on.

No. It wasn't. Not by anyone important. But it hasn't been confirmed either. There have been conflicting reports all around.

No one can agree on what the goddamn requirement is, but as stupid as all this sounds, they can't seem to conceive that there really are some people out there who do not have the internet. Are they people who can afford a Xbox one? Probably not, but to require online all the time is complete nonsense. To require it once every 24 hours is almost as nonsensical.

This touches a chord with me because I grew up poor and *never* had luxuries like TV and internet when I was young. Only when I became an adult did I have regular and predictable access to the internet. However, in December 2002 (I think, the only model that was out at the time was the big fat one) my mom managed to scrape enough money together to get me a PS2, and as I said, I was never able to game online with it. If that was something that could happen with the Xbox One, it wouldn't be possible at all if there were an online requirement.

I just think the requirement is going to alienate a lot of people. People who see internet as an unnecessary expense. People who use their smartphone to check their email, facebook, etc who do not have a wired connection. There's a large cross section who have a problem with this.

I'm also incredibly concerned with the no used games and whatnot. This scares the hell out of me. I buy almost all of my games brand new. But I do enjoy the freedom of taking them to Gamestop and trading them in towards my next purchase. I do sometimes buy used games as well. I can buy a used game at Gamestop for a fraction of the price that it is on the PSN, and by removing third party resales, Microsoft creates a monopoly on their system and their prices, which is never ever good for the consumer. I can appreciate what Mogo is saying, but the vast majority of us are consumers, not professional programmers relying on royalties.

If you get gameinformer, you should read the piece about the downfall of the XBLA. The creator of Retro City Rampage, among other games, is quoted as saying he will not try to develop another game for the XBLA because of all the requirements and restrictions. This is an issue that doesn't look like it is getting better. This is the reason the PSN has been completely dominating the XBLA with indie games like Journey, because they have more freedom.

Though the PS4 doesn't seem to be a much better choice with their cloud gaming experiment. I'm eager to see how both companies handle these issues, though I will cry like a baby girl the day that Sony pulls the plug on the PSN and subsequently, the hundreds of dollars I have spent there.

The Xbox One is going to get totally obliterated by the PS4, and Sony is only going to capitalize on the (apparent) many weaknesses of the Xbox.

At any rate, I've been a playstation gamer from day effing one and that isn't likely to change. But I will not be buying a newe re console for at least a few years probably. The Xbox will always be the console I play when I visit friends, and the Playstation will be the console I enjoy at home.
