So apparently there's a new discontinued item called Fish Masks?

That's funny. I recall Jagex saying, on several occasions, that they never want to introduce any more discontinued items into the game. That's why Iron Sickles are sold in stores even though they're useless, and it's why the Amulet of Accuracy is now sold by Wizard Whatshisface in RS Classic.

So why were Fish Masks discontinued? Do any of you have one? I see people on the RS forums selling them by the thousands, anywhere from 2m to 5m each. That's well into the billions-of-GP range.

I have one, my brother has around 5.

They were added to the squeal wheel and after 3 months or so they removed them as a prize you can win, making them discontinued.

I can't find Jagex's explaination for why they added a new discontinued item (I believe it was in a forum FAQ back when it was added to the Squeal of Fortune), but they basically said that rares are an essential part of the RuneScape economy and that, because the existing discontinueds are so old and high in price, they felt it was time to add another into the game.

But really they just knew it'd tempt people into buying spins.

I was poking fun at most college students' affinity for correcting people after only just learning certain information themselves. Normally only in entry level classes, yet they somehow now believe that they are an expert in the related field.
