So,

There.. wasn't a GOW3 topic :|

I've just finished playing through the campaign with a short break to have some fun in mutliplayer (Mine arrived on Monday ^^)

Had an absolute blast finishing the campaign and it has definitely lived up the hype in my opinion, difficulty has been levelled out which made it slightly less challenging even on hardcore although didn't take away from the storyline or some areas of combat that I loved about the first & second editions.

Anyone else picked this up? Thoughts?

Trendy

I'll get the game someday. Probably after Skyrim and Halo anniversary.

Got some Gears-deluxe package thing which came with the first, the second, and an expansion to the 2nd. I got through half the 1st campaign and then loaned it to a friend who was DYING to play it. So eh, whatever. Thought I could be cool and loan it for a few days.
That was back in June. I haven't gotten it back yet. I should probably get to that...But I have payed multiplayer for a bit, both 1st and 2nd. Though on other people's consoles, not mine D:

I really liked what I played. Never played a 3rd person game before, and now I can safely say I'll look into getting more.

Also:
Played a demo of Gears 3 multiplayer.
Shotgun.
Still.
OP.

Save the pennies - very worth it ^^

Yeah the shotguns particularly the sawn-off are very OP. Played a match last night with almost every player just camping their buildings waiting for someone to go looking for them and blasting them in the face with a shotgun.

Can safely say I left that match pretty pronto..

Definitely worth renting it at the very least (from a friend or w/e) although to fully enjoy it I would say re-run through 1 and or 2 before you play it. GOW3 is tying up a lot of the loose ends from the first two games.

When i'm round a mates house playing GOW2 online this happens all the time. Usually i'll just chuck a grenade in, i will generally have either smoke or frag, with smoke i throw it in and melee/chainsaw them to death. If i have a frag i'll chuck that in and try and use a mid-long range power weapon (Torque Bow or Sniper or Boomshot).

Yeah that's what I tended to do - it gets boring when they just repeat the same thing though. Not as much fun as the craziness of a "normal" game :\

Having a team mate over power the other person is always fun, a lot of people barrel-roll-shotgun too much in the games because its too hard to kill them before they get to you.

Hammerburst>Everything

Haven't had much time to play it outside of sitting through the entire campaign on hardcore for 10 hours straight, netting 1076 kills on that run. However, I'll not talk very loudly about a number of things I saw wrong with the campaign/storyline...

Other than that, I really don't care for the new "level" system (read: we put achievements in your achievements so you can grind while you grind) you need to pander to in order to unlock characters. I'm so accustomed to playing as Hoffman/Raam that I find it annoying that I have to repeatedly play the game just to be the same characters. Hell, I don't think Raam has even been added as DLC yet.

Overall, it's still just Gears of War.

EDIT: Alright, I had some time to do multiplayer, and it seems weapon damages are higher than ever. I feel like I'm fighting Sonic the Hedgehog with dynamite strapped to his chest.

I think RAAM is confirmed in the next dlc. If not one of the upcoming. Talking about dlc kind of disappointed in the amount of dlc coming in with this game, though I enjoy it. Skins are a grey area for me, I don't really care that they make aesthetic dlc day one dlc. I bought one with the left over points I had and it's nice to have my shiny team metal guns.

Anyways, beat the campaign, nice way to end the story. Kind of short but I didn't expect it to be long.

Sawn-off is op, simple as that, annoying as Fuzzy Bunny to play against and I refuse to use it.

Finally beat the final boss on insane; that took me 19 attempts total... Still, I suppose that's better than getting RAAM on insane. I recall taking just over 50 attempts to get him over the course of a few days, including the few attempts that it took before I figured out an exploit to beat him...

I really have to say, though, that this is definitely the most frustrating campaign in the series. There are several points in the campaign that rely on nothing more than mere random chance, especially on insane. Honestly, I've never barked "Fuzzy Bunny!" this much at a video game until now. The first two were definitely more enjoyable in my book. I can speedrun 1 & 2 on insane without too many problems, but I honestly cannot see myself being able to do the same with this game. Suffice to say, I think I'll not be playing this campaign again much, if at all.

I'm going to say the worst areas for that was the boarding of the barge and the deployment of the submarine. At least, it was for me.

In no particular order, the three most irritating parts of the campaign on insane for me are boarding the gas barge, the final boss fight, and that moment where you land next to a gunker after using the zip-line. All three of these basically force you to choose between the extremely high chance of instant death, or running headlong into enemy fire, and rely on little more than pure luck as a result.

Apparently I'm not alone with the final boss; most people seem to absolutely loathe that fight on insane.

I got this game on Saturday. Starting paying and completed it on Sunday. I enjoyed the Gears games, but am i liekly to do much more on Gears? Unlikely if I'm honest.

I can't stand gaming online on consoles anymore, there's far too many kids out there that are just plain ruin it for everyone else (I swear thsese games are rated 18 to try and stop them playing for that reason alone and not the content, and I wish that parents would actually see that their 14/15 kid is playing the game and take it away).

As for playing with friends, little of us still have our 360's, or if we do still, it's in a box somewhere (mine came out at the weekend for the first time is almost a year), I'm the only one that owns Gears 3, and I'll just loan it to anyone that fanices a play through.

Moose out

If you do it swiftly enough, it wasn't a big problem. The first time at it, i had to restart the chapter, because the amount of enemies overwhelmed me every time before i could try to hammer that bug.
