Okay. I'm certain I can't be the first person who would like to see this in RuneScape... but how great would it be to be able to bind your action bar buttons to your keyboard. Imagine opening your inventory or spell list by simply binding to the key of your choice. Or how about using the directional pad or WASD to move your character... as well as keeping the click to move feature. I am not a fan of WoW by any means... but I do like those features in an MMORPG, and I think it would make RuneScape a much better game.

F4: Magic Book
F5: Combat styles

WASD would interfere with typing, and any other way to get around that would be too much like WoW, i like using a Keyboard to type and a mouse to click.

The F# buttons already work as hotkeys for the interfaces.

The problem with this is game mechanics; The arrow keys are already in control of the camera, and letter keys are automatically typed into the chat. So the only realistic way to introduce key-based movement would be using the WASD method and making it so that you have to click the chatbox to type any messages, which would be more of a bother than anything.

And it's not like the RuneScape map is very large - Distance between areas/features/whatever are very short which makes mouse-based movement more convenient anyway (especially since it has the auto-detect feature for obstacles which you would need to maneuver around manually with key-based movement).

The chatbox could be opened by hitting the control key, or alt key, or anything you set it too. Personally, the idea of using the WSAD to move, like I said before, should be optional. Auto-run mode could be activated, in case you need to go pee, or get that burning pizza out of the oven. Without stopping..

Key movement isn't for everyone, and for some of us, we'd like it if click movement wasn't for everyone as well... because for the past 10 years, that's all it ever has been. If key movement never happens, then Jagex should at least allow you to auto-run to a marker you place on the map. I do agree though, Runescape isn't massive, but take it from me. I've been running to Ardougne and back to Varrock, completing as many member's quests as I can for about 3 straight weeks, until a few days ago. Ironically, magic is not one of my better stats, so my tele options were limited, and a games necklace only helped a little bit. Burthrope being the closest destination with it, that's still a 5-12 minute walk (depending on the circumstances and running out of energy).
