Hey, I'm thinking of starting playing lord of the rings online, does anyone here play? If so how do you like it and what server are you on?

It's good because it's huge and often soloable (storyline missions notwithstanding). I play on Evernight. No, you may not speak with me... I will crush you for disturbing my escape from reality...

I've been playing this game again and it's now free to play, which is pretty cool. I'm semi helping my brother out with it. The quests are pretty fun and I like the atmosphere and community.

So, is it a grindfest where I have to kill the same monsters over and over?
And are the quests only consisting of get A to B, then kill at C?

If not I might look into this.

Some of the quests are like that, but not all of them. It's not a total grind fest either. There is often other stuff to do to distract you, and it's great for either the casual gamer or the serious one. There's a main storyline quest, in which you can choose to partake in or not, and there's also some pretty fun deeds to do.

I played lotro for about 2 years, over a month of gametime played at least.

Some can turn into a grind fest but it was more enjoyable to me then the normal grind fest, possibly because of the scenery being what it is. Guy wants me to kill boars? Sure I'll go kill boa- HOLY Fuzzy Bunny IS THAT WEATHERTOP? OH Fuzzy Bunny THATS AWESOME.

I agree about the scenery. It's simply amazing and the graphics look pretty awesome, although my boyfriend would disagree with me on that notion, but whatever. :P
It's a game worth playing, IMO.

Yeah I play it. Have played it for a few years on and off since it came out like Loner, with several months game-time and one maxed character.

I love it, personally, but like any other game you need to try it out and make the decision yourself. The gameplay is similar to other mmorpgs but really the fact that it is LOTR is understandably what attracts most people, myself included.

It is great fun to play through areas like The Shire, Angmar, Moria, Lothlorien & Mirkwood and see areas like Weathertop, Bree, Rivendell & Goblin town. They have done an amazing job at recreating Middle Earth so far.

I've also spent a lot of time on PVMP which is an acquired taste but again, I find it enjoyable.

My only complaint is something that really can be avoided if you do a bit of research, and that is I picked a dud server. You can pay to change too, but I've made lots of friends on my server so I won't be doing that any time soon.

I can post some pictures up later if you like :P

No, its definitely a dress.

When they came out with a cosmetic system where you could have stuff on 'over' your armor, I threw it on for the lols. That was in late 08 i think, never took it off.

I love the cosmetic system! That and how the horses/ponies you buy from the stable master gets put in your skill tab, rather than your invy. Also, what servers do you guys play on?

Ahh cool! I'm on Landroval. I find that Brandywine is pretty populated though, and Landroval has a good amount of players in it too.

Landroval was known as the unofficial Role Play server as well.

True, most of the role players I find inhabit Bree. I have to admit, sometimes it does get pretty interesting there. :)
What do you think of the new expansion that's coming out?
