Final Fantasy XIV apparently made an entire event out of their shut down before going into beta.

Starts with 5 minutes of people standing, launching fireworks, and just talking while staring at the impending meteor. You can skip to the final cutscene that they played right before logging everyone off and shutting the game down.

To those that don't remember, the song that's playing is the song they used in the trailer when they first announced the game. Majority of the characters you see are actually characters from the stories and quests in the game upgraded to the later gear that was added through content updates.

That was amazing and a half. I've always wanted a video game to go out that way.

I stopped what I was doing just to watch that, and I'm glad I did.

From what I had heard, FFXIV had nothing but troubles, to the point that they were waiving everyone's subscription fees. Better luck next time, eh?

Funny you should say that, Square Enix has a new team working on a reboot, and so far, it's recieved positive reactions.

Honestly, at least in my opinion, it was a great game. It just needed more quests and an interface adjustment. It didn't need the WoWificiation they've done to it, but I'll accept it.

I'm looking forward to A Realm Reborn, and hope it takes off a lot better than 1.0 did.

Surely.

I loved FFXI, it's still one of my favorite games ever to this day. Who knows? Maybe you'll see me around FFXIV: A Realm Reborn.

I bought FFXIV originally (the collector's edition even I think, there's a big box sitting next to me in the bookcase so probably so) but I didn't like it too much for obvious reasons. They also keep sending me e-mails of some sort.

I take this to mean I'm in a beta or something but I haven't bothered to check.

You should be in the beta and you won't have to pay for A Realm Reborn when it's released.

Same. That game was an epic fail.

I'm not legacy status and it makes me rather upset.

No special chocobo mount for me ;_;

Pay for 3 months subscription and some are saying that it only counted if you did it after a certain date.

I bought 3 months worth of Crysta when it first started but then donated it to the Tsunami victims when they gave the option because they removed the monthly fee.

I bought the collector's edition dammit.

I mad.

Oh, you're right. One of my e-mails from June 13th has a beta code in it, hah.

It's launching (beta 4, characters aren't wiped though) in about 20 minutes, anyone else planning on playing it?

I'm probably going to play on the Gilgamesh server.

Just waiting until launch to play because my PS3 is full and I don't feel like deleting anything at the moment.

I'm slightly ahead of the curve as it is anyway, and I'll always be behind no matter what on the legacy server I'm going to.

I was talking with my cousin about this tonight actually. He's been playing in every beta apparently and has really enjoyed FFXIV in general, haha.

But nope, probably not me. I have a bunch of other games to attend to before I start a new MMO.

Picking it up day of release because I'm apparently still going to be in town.

Roommate has conveniently moved out and I won't have to worry about playing too late or too early.
