I've downloaded some mods from steam workshop, and off from Nexus. Having a combo of both is good.

I kinda like some of the redesigns of Skyrim. I never realized how gloomy it is in certain areas.

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

@Alpr

I don't run into that problem, but that's because I don't use that many mods. I KNOW that when I install a bazillion mods, the game will get wonky at some point.

As for uninstalling, disabling the data files from the Skyrim menu works fine with me. Again, this is only because I don't use alot of mods so it doesn't bother me that there's one or two disabled in there.

Well that's what I sort of meant. It's good for a certain number of mods, but if you're looking to install a lot it is impossible to configure them.

Turning them off works, but the files will stll be there and take up memory :P

Yes, I have. Being argonian I took my time swimming around, it's not very rich but very much fun to gather data on what lies where and such.

Now I'm home for the Easter i'm starting character #3 - an Orc who I will probably be two-handed meleeing with most of the time... any advice? I never usually use greatswords or big axes or the like so not really sure on the best approach.

Warhammers ftw! Rock a warhammer and a shield/longsword combo. Can't go wrong!

Anyway, damage to speed ratio is what you'd expect. Greatsword is fastest 2h weapon, but least damage. Then goes the axe, and then the warhammer.

I've already started on the Warhammering... The resounding moment when you swing it and it goes to a slow-motion pulverisation of the enemy - IT'S HAMMER TIME!

Why a shield/longsword combo as well though?

If you're going warhammers I can really recommend getting one of the best ones in the game, The Longhammer.
It's found in
Hidden:
Liar's Retreat, north-east of Karthwasten. I'm not 100% sure but I think it has the highest DPS in the game.

I don't know about highest, but it sure is up there. Combined with Elemental Fury, it's a beast.

I remember finding that thing. I didn't know what was so great about it, so I hung it in one of my houses and never spoke of it again. Neat.

Yeah, its basically an Orcish warhammer that swings ~2x as fast as a normal warhammer, and can still be enchanted as well. But i use the said Shout with it and with all 3 words, it swings alot faster than a dagger can.

So you can train one-hand and block as well, and in case you just want/need the extra speed or protection of the shield. Just a bit of variety, I guess. But I didn't stop training two-handed until it was at 100 anyway so you could go that route, hehe.

I didn't know about that hammer, maybe I'll dust off my copy of Skyrim and go find it, lol...though I'm sure the Daedric Warhammer I made via smithing is more pure pwnage than anything that's actually in the game. The 2x speed sounds pretty epic, though. And I AM an Orc, so it would make sense for me to get the hammer from a RP perspective. :)

Nahhh, all I need is to whack my enemy once or twice with the hammer and they are dead :P Heavy Armour is high enough at my low level (plus smithing has given me some good armour too) that I'm not often close to death even without a shield.

Warhammer is actually not that bad. I remember using the warhammer when I first started playing the game. I like using swords now though. :)
