And we'd also have a post in the topic from Jaron saying they were silenced.

well, it is possible.... but im leaning towards this not being the case. simply because of this being a game meant for new people. roles like this would be a bit much to deal with in the first game. but the possibility is still there.

"And Kikori is itself a misspelling of Kokiri"
so... is it pronounced kick-o-ree? like hickory? or is it kih-koh-ree?

I've always used kick-or-ee, myself. (The 'or-ee is same as "boring")
Hickory almost goes hick-er-ee, by the way.

Just don't say kee-ker-ree or kick-ree and I'll be good. :p

I think it's pronounced mɑfiˈoʊsoʊ.

I was thinking this as well, but was unsure why no one mentioned it, i just assumed i had missed something which meant she was probably not Mafia, because when new players have said things like this before they are usually quickly questioned by the rest of the players.

I'm willing to chalk her defense of kikori up to newbie naivety. Not that I'm discounting the possibility of her being mafia, but I'm less compelled to scrutinize her skepticism knowing that this is her first game.

Howdy. Sorry for not being around since entering the game, had several essays due at once.

Kikori
Defense is butts. Plus I'm willing to trust Penguins claim for the now.

Now that I have time to actually reply...
Kikori wrote:
It's actually quite the opposite, Lander. I tried to ally with you simply for the fact that I had no reason not to trust your words. Who remembers the kid who cried wolf? "I was framed" was an excuse I needed to pull in the Courtroom mafia to win.

The wonderful world of the metagame. Fake-claim framed once, and never believed again.

Kikori wrote:
Now this. The irony if it is... god, palpable.

I'm the real detective, bros.

I suprised you would take this route, probably because no one would beleive a framing. I know exactly why though. When you go down, we get WIFOM fun fun fun.

Kikori Kid wrote:
I glued to Lander because of one reason: Night One was spent investigating him.

So Mafia says Lander is town.

Kikori Kid wrote:
"But wait", say the veterans, "any detective worth his worth will self-investigate night one!"
But wait. This is the first game, a global game, a game made to show the mechanics and draw the new players into the fun of Mafia. I took a probably true, educated guess that there's no such thing as an Insane detective, Quack doctor, or some such makes-it-useless variant of a role. Such a role reaching a new player would just be confusing and potentially frustrating.
So, yes. Night one was securing whether or not I could team up with Lander to rip this game a new one. Remember, after all, when we team as villagers to pull down the Mafia, bad stuff happens to 'em.

Very true. In retrospect, I should have spent N1 investigating you instead  My logic was that the size of the game makes detective more powerful. As size increases, percent mafia says the same, but detective percent decreases, so same difficulty finding Mafia, but harder to find detective. Insanity would balance that.

Kikori Kid wrote:
Landerpurex wrote:
Let him speak and say what, there's a framer? That he's a power role and that penguin is ousting him? To let him proclaim some other half baked idea to save himself? Nope. Not on my watch.

I'd rather not pull a Monk and ragequit, and I'd rather not just throw my hands up and say "Screw it, I know they won't believe me."
Yes, Lander. On your watch. You're a villager, and I know that for a fact.

Oh, and it's so much more fun! The chance for Mafia misinformation and WIFOM is priceless.

Kikori Kid wrote:
My investigation night two went to Animal. The worst enemies are those completely off the grid, after all, since you can't exactly read logic that isn't posted. To my shock, Villager.

So Mafia says Animal is village. Yay WIFOM.

Kikori Kid wrote:
This, however, puts me in between a very big rock and hard place: I have nobody to vote for but Penguin, who I am sure will not be easily dealt with until I'm dead

And I have no one but you.

Kikori Kid wrote:
God dammit why couldn't Animal or Lander have been Mafia. ;-;

They still might be. Now we get to analyze the purpose of your naming them on your deathbed.

Kikori Kid wrote:
Triple ninja'd. Chris, I don't see a gain for him either, except maybe serving as a chance for some names to appear more Villager by making a quick believable bandwagon jump. I'm looking at Jack and Frank in specific for this.
That's an odd and highly unlikely "maybe", though. :\
Us both being Mafia is immediately taken away by the fact that a real Detective would still exist. The only reason that could be gotten away with is a Janitor, but without the mention of a spotless home, I'm not pushing for that one existing.

If this is the case I will eat my metagame hat.

Day 3 started with a bang. "I'm the Detective, and Kikori is Mafia!" shouted PenguinGuy, loud enough to be heard by all. Heads started nodding. Perhaps the past two days of no lynches had them prepared to follow the first person that came along. Perhaps his claim was believable. Kikori didn't think so. "You're not the Detective, because I'm the Detective!" he asserted. But he was too late, and before it was even noon, Kikori was being led to the gallows. "Irony at its finest! You're forgetting that perhaps there's a Janitor! Or perhaps there's a Role Cop!" "Or perhaps you're just Mafia," PenguinGuy said, pulling the lever and ending Kikori's life.

The suspense in the air was as thick as it could possibly be as the remaining nineteen all trekked towards Kikori's house. PenguinGuy was dripping with sweat, because he knew without a doubt, if he was wrong, it would be his neck at the end of that noose tomorrow. One by one they filed into Kikori's small house, and everything looked normal.

Until someone found a sharp black knife in Kikori's sock drawer.

Kikori - Mafia - Lynched Day 3

A more thorough search of the house found more Mafia propaganda, but nothing that would link him to any of his mates. PenguinGuy breathed a sigh of relief, and a few people solemnly patted him on the back as they left. "It's been a short but important morning," Lander said. "Let's take the rest of the day off."

Night 3 has begun (ends at ~9:40 AM CST on Thursday, October 11th)

Bright and early the fourth morning, the Villagers gathered in the town square as usual. They numbered 18--someone was missing. Someone that was probably dead. The Villagers waited for Lander to call the shots and lead the way as usual.

But it looked like that wasn't going to happen this time, because that's exactly who was missing from the group.

The Villagers wasted no time in sprinting to Lander's house. Dr Henry kicked the door clean off its hinges. "Why the hell did you do that?" someone yelled. "It seemed like a good idea at the time," Henry shot back. A few people filed inside, but the sight they saw was as to be expected--it looked like Lander was asleep in his bed when his throat had been slit. The bloodied knife was left on top of the bedsheets, staining the entire thing red.

Landerpurex - Villager - Slain Night 3

Lander's leadership over the past few days was not about to be in vain. The Villagers were ready to lead themselves now, and someone was going to take the fall. Literally.

Day 4 (ends at 12:30 AM CST on Sunday, October 14th)
18 players remain
10 votes to lynch

Anyone else slightly confused about why the mafia chose to target Lander?

Like obviously he tends to have a lot of sway in these games but when kikori labelled him as a villager, I was personally inclined to start looking at Lander as a potential mafia. I kinda feel like the mafia wasted a perfectly good mislead? Saves me from some potential turmoil at least.

So I'm just gonna go ahead and outright demand some posts from the inactives. And when I say posts, I don't mean a post saying why you're inactive or just superficially commenting on recent events or making joke votes or whatever.

Rex, Henry, Phantom, Animal, Vandal, Defencema, Muffin, Scar - Start making some substantial posts or I'll force Jaron into giving me vigilante powers so I can murder you personally.

And all joking aside, I am serious about targeting an inactive if no better lead(s) present themselves. If they offer no information in their posts/through the very act of posting, then we should at least stand to gain information in their deaths.

We should still try to identify some proper leads though, and I'll be combing this topic with a fine tooth brush tomorrow (well today technically I guess). As of now it is almost 3am and I just got home so I am going to bed. Just making it clear that the inactives NEED TO BE ACTIVE AND POST THINGS WITH SOME *SUBSTANCE*.

Excuse me? Yesterday was pretty clear that Kikori was mafia and going down, there wasn't much to add to the argument... but I did pick out Phantomrose as scum from her post that just screamed "newbie attempt at defending fellow mafia" to me. No point starting up too much yesterday, but today I can.

I'm curious what phantomrose has to say, but I also want animal to start talking.
You voted for kikori when he was already dead. Kicking a dead horse will get you nowhere. Your vote said more of this then anything: I'm here guys, and I want to make it seem like I am contributing.

I am also confused as to why Lander was killed off by the Mafia. After all, as you said Chris, it does seem like a bit of a waste.

And Dr. Henry, I admit that I made a simple mistake at not looking at the evidence of Kikori being Mafia, and not looking into his posts too closely.

I'm WIFOMing PhantomRose a bit. One hand says "newbie attempt at defending fellow mafia", the other hand says "new to the game, wasn't reading posts and/or wasn't familiar with what the detective role is". I suspect Penguin may have thrown his investigation over here so I'll wait on him.

Also suspicious of Market. More detailed explanation as to why to come after school.
