Even though I absolutely loved the older version of 'Scape, this will not bring me back. To me, this is just another ploy. Think about it, this is just a way to get more older members who quit and now are F2P to come back and give them more money. They set those demands ridiculously high for a reason. If they reach 750k I will be surprised.

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

Of course it is. The ridiculous fact that you have to be a member to vote is confirmation of that. Hell, the FAQ about the 07 servers on the forums even calls Jagex a business and the whole reason for this vote is to see if it's worth their while so they can make profit from it, though there is also the implied reason of PR considering how much groveling Jagex has been doing over the last couple of months. Meanwhile if the old Jagex was still in charge there would be no talk of business or profits and they would simply be making a good game that subscribers would flock to.

They can have my money if they do what they say they will with the 07 servers though, as long as they don't give them the royal screwjob like they did the rest of the game.

thought this was interesting:

I have enjoyed RuneScape since I began back in 2004. I enjoyed it in 2007. I enjoy it now. I am not however going to vote to bring a 2007-era server into the mix. To me it is basically trying to bring back something that should remain in the past where I can think fondly of it and nothing more. I want my nostalgia, but I wouldn't want to go back and have to remember how everything was and sacrifice all the advances I've made up until now. To me it's not worth it. This is a game after all and I am content with enjoying the game in every instance as it evolves. For the really awful changes, I shall voice my concern, but the EoC made things open for some really interesting future developments and I am all for RuneScape becoming bigger and better. I am also for keeping the Code of Conduct enforced and shall always do what I can to combat rulebreakers. I say neigh to gambling and I say neigh to 2007 nostalgia going away by bringing it back. Let me enjoy my memories and enjoy the game now and in the future without living in the past.

Then just don't play it. The game won't hurt you by being there :)

Mr. Sachz makes some great points, but my ultimate feelings towards it is what Nate described. I'm indifferent. If it brings more people in and satisfies some members long gone, good for them. I just hope this doesn't slow down the progress of the main game, as they said it wouldn't; but keeping up a project like this is bound to hit some snags.

RS was awesome in 2007, and it's awesome now in a different way. For every Kuradal's dungeon, GM quest, and Grand Exchange there is a removal of the wilderness, implementation of the SoF, and Solomon's store. You gotta take the bad with the good.

I'm not interested in playing the new server, but I voted yes because there are people that will. I'll be curious to see what the game was like back then. It's always interesting to reflect.

YES! And Fuzzy Bunny because I'm not a member right now. *sigh*
But please, guys, cast a vote. If it gets to 750k there will be no extra fee and if you vote "yes" you won't be locked it to paying for it or anything. I hope it reaches 750k 'til 1st of March, definitely a reason for me to start again, plus having a week off beginning on the 16th. Hyped.

You won't be forced to play it again, by voting you will just help those for who nostalgia isn't enough.

I plan to try to have fun playing the game. I feel this is a good opportunity to take a step back from the culture of elitism and powergaming that has permeated so many MMOs in recent years, which even I myself have been guilty of participating in.

Here's the Q&A that happened earlier by the way. Looks like GWD, GE and modified experience rates are off the table. You'll have to be a member to play as well as paying an additional fee to access the old school servers. The fee can be seen as a good or a bad thing; on one hand it keeps the riff raff out and on the other it could potentially drive away good players from the game. Everyone who voted gets their first month free however.

This concept is still weird, since it says we all start fresh. So back to training all stats from level 1 again? We will see everything soon

As mentioned previously, I support having the 2007 server available for those who must have it and will no longer throw hissy fits over the things around now that they don't care for... so long as it doesn't interfere with the development and evolution of the actual game.

We were promised things this year that will be released and I want those to come as they should. These promises were made to us well before people threw tantrums and forced the Jagex folks into toying with the idea of a 2007 server. If they want to give those players stuck in the past what they want while only performing routine maintenance on the 2007 server, groovy. As long as they have plenty of staff to get the rest of us what we were promised I don't mind.

They already said before the poll was even put up that the Old School servers won't be interfering with any other of the updates this year because a separate team will be working on them. If you don't trust Jagex's word take it up with them, not the people who wanted Old School servers.

the game is up and running.

to cope with the high volumes of people going through tutorial island, they have changed it a bit. like trees wont fall after being chopped. i would suggest training here because you dont have to run to a new tree.
HOWEVER. you can only get to level 3 on tutorial island.
