It could be a good idea for those that are fed up with members and fancy taking on something big for a little while. A list of drops would be a nice idea to add to your main thread.

I think that Jagex need the KBD to drop something that no other NPC drops besides the KBD heads.
It should drop a peice of armour. Corp Beast has Spirit shields, Jad has Fire cape, there should be something for the KBD.

That pretty much confirms that a free player doesn't have a good chance of tackling the KBD alone. So since teamwork seems to be a necessity, that makes me want this idea done more.

I think it would be a good idea, i also think that poison isnt an issue in f2p, they just don't need a dragon with poison. Revs dont have poison in f2p.

They do have freezing and blocking teleports. Poison would be the final use as an anti-solo King Black Dragon in free worlds, I think. Even if the rate's reduced, one single case of poison in a person would decimate their food supply enough to ruin a solo chance.

I agree with you, i think that it is near impossible for a solo on the KBD in f2p unless you're a super rich level 126 who can afford full corrupt.

The prayer would basically have to be timed to meet the Dragon's attacking. Remember, he went at it with a free player's setup... No prayer potions. You'd get only a quarter of the way down its bar at the best before your prayer would give in, I think.

I only had a strength pot and 27 Anchovy pizzas, and only a level 126 with a ridiculous amount of cash to spend would solo it in f2p, eventually someone would make a guide for f2p but it is really difficult, i got attack by an ork on the way to the lava maze which hit a 23 on me, taking an anchovy pizza.

I know one thing for sure..this will make f2p VERY popular. While you're at it, the entire Lava Maze could be opened for F2P clan raids.

But the KBD cant drop that cloak, it will be too good, especially if it was a free-only item. It could either drop mass runes, like 50 noted addy ores, or 5 noted rune ores. It could drop large ammounts of arrows (like 2k mith arrows). Or it could drop Rune, with good chance for rune platebody.

I actually really like this idea Goten.

I know Jagex wants f2p to simply be a "taste" of RuneScape, but what is a taste without a boss monster?

Honestly though, if they don't add a weaker boss monster like KBD to f2p, then they at least need to update it.

Elvarg is a bit of a joke. KBD has absolutely no point in p2p. I don't think a f2p only item would work (and I dont think Jagex would consider it)
I think the following would be decent:

- I remember early members when I killed a decent level monster and it was SO exciting to get a drop of like 5 different things. f2pers would have to team it no doubt, making it challenging and rewarding. Take out the poison and have it drop:

- 2x big bones (always)
- Rune armour set (RARE)
- Rune platebody (uncommon)
- Rune 2h (uncommon)
- Rune scimmy (uncommon)
- 20 noted addy ores
- coins (3500)
- Death rune (80)
- str potion (5)
- Tuna (5)
- Fire rune (250)
- diamond (4)
(Also not sure on how u get corrupted dragon, but get it to drop that too)

I put in rune armour set as you need some sort of super reward offered as incentive... couldn't think of anything else.

This would also liven up f2p pking around that area too which would be a plus. But it would enable f2pers to get a taste of real boss hunting, which is something that p2p offers a lot of and is a heap of fun, as well as rewarding.
