The Last of Us. Who's playing it?

Only a few hours in, but I am very disappointed so far.

It definitely detracts from the gameplay.

Well, it was hyped up pretty seriously especially by gameinformer and gamestop. It looked great on paper. Literally. The game *looks* amazing, as good as any game I've ever seen. But that's kind of the issue. It's basically a really, really long interactive zombie movie. It seems to have perhaps the most limited gameplay I've ever seen while also being perhaps the most cinematic game I've ever seen, both in terms of amount/time of cutscenes and the overall look and feel. But when actually playing the game, it's either boring or straight up frustrating more than it is any fun. It's getting better as time wears on, but I fear that nothing will happen to make it any better. The only reason I'm keeping on playing it, and will finish it is because I was duped into preordering and I generally have a Fuzzy Bunny for Naughty Dog.

The worst offense is that there is no driving force to the game. I would argue that the exploration is the best part, and though the environments were painstakingly crafted, there's really a very finite amount of things to find. The story is mediocre, at best, as is the gameplay so I find myself wondering: "why am I playing this?"

I've never been a fan of action games, really, but I always liked the *great* ones. Devil May Cry. Legacy of Kain. Darksiders. Dead Island. This one is just lacking in every department except presentation, graphics, and overall style. Basically, it looks incredible but really doesn't have any substance.

I was looking forward for TLoU, but I haven't picked it up yet. Most cinematics? Have you played MGS4? lol.

I was gonna wait for a price drop anyways, too strapped for money.

I hate when that happens. Actually, its been quite a while since I have bought a video game for myself. I usually just borrow them from friends or receive them as gifts

I've been playing it. I'm 83% completion it looks like so I should finish it in the next day or so. It's pretty outstanding. There's nothing wrong with having a touching story in a game, and while there may be a lot of cutscenes, this IS a Naughty Dog game. What did you expect? Uncharted had a similar structure.

Honestly, this is one of the most interesting games I've played it some time. It's incredible, and really gives a hopeless feel throughout the game. There's a nice balance between combat and exploration/puzzles so it never feels like it's some thoughtless shooter yet never feels like some dungeon crawler, either. The characters feel incredibly real and believable. If this situation were to go down in the real world, they all feel like the exact way people would turn out. I also really appreciate the stealth focus in this game. It reminds me of playing some of the older Metal Gear Solid games. Even more fascinating is how much things will change from just one different action. Not to mention you need to constantly be checking every nook and cranny you can find to make sure you're well stocked on supplies.

It feels good to play, and I'm glad I got it. This game is pretty much Half Life mixed with Metal Gear Solid done with Uncharted's control scheme.

Just finished it.

That was... pretty much perfection in game form.

There's also a New Game Plus option. I guess I didn't miss as many tools and pills as I thought.
