About a year ago I would of said no way they would even dream of it but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

I'd say the majority of people on Rs have bought gold and by Jagex selling there own would even the playing field for those who don't want to break the rules.

What happens to people like myself who wouldn't buy it? Money talks, tough luck.

I wouldn't like it. It would just be too weird to see them selling gold. Even if it MIGHT benefit me if they sold it cheaply just to get ahead of myself for awhile (member for 5 1/2 years, most money I've ever had was ~700k). But it isn't a matter of the bots or not, it just wouldn't be the same game.

With the price of Rs Gold on RWT websites it wouldnt be worth selling for Jagex.

I remember when i first started, a mil was £10. Now its £0.95 per mil.

We would all like to see RWT get rid of but it will be a long long time until anything happens.

I think it's a great idea, it would greatly improve the current state of the game.

I think it's interesting to note that Blizzard is already doing this for both WoW and Diablo 3. So it's not something completely unheard of for game developers to consider.

would cause massive inflation, gold selling works now because the money that is sold was created ingame and not out of thin air.

jagex wont allow gold selling by players because they would want a cut of the $ and they wouldn't get it thus it remains banned.

Legalised GP selling would put a lot of people off playing the game. Besides, selling ingame gold would be admitting defeat on Jagex's part :)

I'd seriously quit if this came true, Most of the current 'good' Rs players and many others are old-school runescapers which dont want to see runescape change anymore than what it has!

I have never paid for anything aside from my membership fee to Jegex. And frankly, I'd say most have not bought gold. I don't know anyone personally who has, although it isn't something I normally bring up in conversation

Not only would it be bad for the reasons already outlined above, but sanctioned RWT in the vein of cash shops in those crappy knock-off "free" MMOs would be completely out of character for Jagex. Honestly, I think that if they had to choose between sanctioned RWT and the death of RuneScape, Jagex (or, more accurately, its employees) would choose to let RuneScape die rather than become a mockery of all they've stood for for all these years. Remember, Jagex gutted PvP, killed free trade, and alienated a large portion of the playerbase to wipe out botting and gold trading once and for all (a decision I was in a minority supporting). In these days where the microtransaction business model runs rampant over the MMO industry, paving the way for hordes of shameless knock-offs, poorly-translated ports, and generally crappy games to steal business from the honest-to-goodness quality games, a company such as Jagex officially sanctioning RWT would be the death knell of quality online gaming.

Wait, wait, wait... You just made some very, very sweeping statements about games that do micro-transactions. You might want to do some research before you hold that position.

Image

And it's not just LoL. LotRO, D&DO, Aion, switched to a f2p micro-transaction model. And many, many other games have implemented it with great success, even World of Warcraft.

This is a terrible idea, quite frankly. Jagex is doing bad enough as is, they don't need to get any worse.
