Two or three weeks ago I was on one of my 200-mile drives between school and home when I realized, whoops, I forgot to open the RuneVillage Time Capsule back on October 1st! So I pushed it to November 1st instead. Surprise! This year we look back on our lives around October 2013, when we were all almost 400 days younger and RV's hosting future was in jeopardy.
To participate in the next time capsule head over to this other topic (don't post next year's messages here!)

Did your A-level's go well? How are "the Mighty" Scunthorpe United doing? How's Dad and Mum, what about our sisters? You'd be 19 by the time you read this.

Did you burn out on Gmod like you did with TF2? Other than all that, how's life? You better keep doing well in school.

Hope that gets taken care of soon (it should as of this Post on Oct. 1,2013 well now since I have started typing it changed to the 2nd). Wonder if Walmart decided to keep you & hopefully got to learn some New areas to work at there or trying to get a 2nd Job still? Hopefully you & Britt-tastic could both get 2nd Jobs. Well keep working & keep waiting Hope to hear all about this in 2014. Good luck!

On the night of writing this, you boiled chicken for ramen without having any noodles on hand. I wonder how many more times we'll be making that mistake? Hehe.
Still jobless? If so, you're a terrible person. Not even a month and the lack of responsibility, income, and application to anything productive is already causing some depression to creep up close. I can't imagine how broken you must be if you really haven't gotten anything in a year. Still not moved out? This one, there's no insult for. You're probably overdoing the fear; you can do laundry, cook basic things, wash dishes, clean a house... the only thing holding you back is fear of the unknown. It's always been a big one for us, but if you're still not out, you're certainly going to be soon. Kudos if you've sucked it up before this, get ready for it if you haven't.
Obligatory Games of Interest Good question. For the past few months you've had a steady run of Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and Diablo 2. However, once again, the passion seems to be fading. As this is being written, the next goal seems to be Final Fantasy XIV... with understandable skepticism about how long that'll last before playing alone becomes the norm. Nothing old seems very fun anymore. You could always buy a Classic Controller for the Wii and finally get to play Mario... seriously, what were they thinking with the gamecube controls on that thing. Odds are you've got a couple good Wii Point cards for a few new games to reflect on when this gets opened.
Art came and went. There were a good deal of small bits drawn while at Kroger, especially on U-scan. Yesterday (in my perspective), a story got started with intent to follow the realistic, flexible RPG system Dan was working on that we playtested once. How's that ended up? And speaking of that system, did he ever finish it in any era of technology to play in? I think it went from medieval to sci-fi and will probably settle at modern-ish. These days the puppy doesn't tail-waggle that much. Hopefully that's all in the past now. I'm sure you'll already have happy memories of your other friends' successes. A few in particular, though... Michelle? Christian? Jon's job hunt?
If Homestuck hasn't ended, we'll all be impressed. GGaR probably doesn't have a clear end, but hopefully it's gotten back to not using those comic strip / poker faces every other comic. It's on the upswing for it. Neopets bank account upgraded to Neopian Mega Riches yet? If not, check the stock market more. Gotten Golden Sun 1 yet? Still driving that old Chevy? Sturdy as hell but it's gotta be getting on its last legs by now, with how little care of it we seem to take. Just as long as you don't have anymore stupid wrecks on your record... How's Nikki's situation working out? Between a baby, her moving out, and who she's with, it's probably pretty eventful but hard to keep up with. Guam's pretty damn far away, after all. Still topping the charts in Whatpulse? You better not have slipped much closer to a 1:1 key:click ratio. Got your sleep schedule intact? Hopefully you're actually having breakfast at a normal breakfast time. Been forced to cut your hair yet? How's the can tab collection? Did you finally get around to delivering the Tavros shirt? Have you still put off answering these questions until you've looked at your friends' before-and-afters? Worrywart. Have you finally updated your signature or avatar? Even if he's changed, Chris' art is worth keeping. But the new shuffle of talkative friends probably warrants an update, as does your new typical wardrobe. I'm sure you'll get a heavy dose of hindsight and wonder if I could have predicted any of your current / recent events and asked about them, but... we both know I'm no fortune teller.
Hope all is well. But let's be fair. If it somehow isn't, it's still on your head.

How are you settling down in PA? Have you made any new friends yet, and how do you like working with the staff at the new Panera? I know that you have been pretty nervous about meeting new people, and trying to make friends up here. I hope that everything goes well in that department of things.
How is your long distance relationship thing going? Are you two finally together yet? You were pretty bummed about leaving England last Tuesday, and I know that you really want the distance between you two to end once and for all. At least he is coming over in September to attend your Uncle's wedding, right? How did that visit go, or will it be something more.... permanent, if you decide to go through with the green card form around Q1 of 2014. Hopefully, everything will go as planned in 2014.
Are you driving yet, and do you have your license? You need to get on that, right away! Get your license, and maybe a car so you can start traveling to places, like various Renn Faires, or random road trips. You can even visit, and hang out with your friends back in CT, even though it is about a two hour drive from PA. Speaking of friends, are you going to Pax East, once again in 2014 with Liz and Eric? Hopefully you will get that chance, since it was fun in 2013. Maybe you will get to see James and Jordon from The Creatures again! Good luck in life, this year! It is just another new adventure.

Yeah, saving is going well. This past summer I could only charge for one quad, which cut my earnings substantially. But on the plus side, the people at this job are really good people! And if I keep working hard, I might get a shot at getting hired on with Devon. Nope, im not close to becoming an ALS. Im really unsure of becoming one. Yeah, debt is shrinking. Its nice I havnt put much into my truck. A house is more important. I did, however, have to put a new rear window in silly me. I went snowboarding lots!!! It was excellent!! That trip to big white rocked! I really hope something like that happens again this winter. Red Phat doesnt look like it will ever happen. and the only thing below 80 is queer-neering. its 78.(also lame divnation is lvl 1. Meh.). All noncombat stats will need to be 85 to get 2000 total. Yeah, combat really sucks. All my pker accounts are useless. Rs07 is a good place to pk! But you had to start t lvl3 again. RS3 is lame compared to what I was hoping. RS3 is basically just a new story, which im not really following. Something about gods being pissed off. Meh. But the HTML5 thing looks cool! Its just not released yet. The new sounds are awesome! Going to the gym is something I still do. Im not really seeing a ton of results yet. Maybe by christmas the rest of my stomach will be defined. Im eating a lot better! Carron doesnt have her license yet. *sigh* one day. She also doesnt have a job. She needs to get on that. And stop whining about starting at minimum wage jobs. You need to start somewhere. Her school is well though. Really really good marks so far!
Well, this tank farm wont build itself! The sumps are going in tomorrow. The clay is about 85% done. The gravel is done on the access road, and on the tank bases, but no where else. The sand on the tanks is all done! 3mm tolerance complete!
See you next year! Hope you have some things like the truck or school loan paid off. And you have a few investments made! Like a house or stocks.

Hey Future Owen, hope all is well, and you will be either planning another trip to scotland(or some other country really, just see lots of the world), OR saving for a house. how is working for all-can going? are you closer to becoming an ALS? hopefully by now you have little debt! and put some sweet things onto your truck! i hope you go snowboarding more this winter! how close are you to getting a red Phat? how about all noncombat stats over 80? or 2000 total level? is the new combat system still as lame as you currently think it is? hows RS3 looking? you better still be going to the gym! if not, get off your fat ass and go! if you are, congrats hows the 6pack look? music: system of a down is still entertaining. blood by in this moment is new. new stuff from shinedown is out. how is Carron? i hope she is well and drives cars. and is comfortable with work/school combo

HEY JARON IT'S OCTOBER 2013 LET'S COMPARE OUR RELATIVE POSITIONS IN LIFE
Because really I got nothing else for ya? I already know that in one year I'll be a little over halfway to getting my Master's Degree. So instead I'll toss some FUTURE UNCERTAINTIES and PRESENT STATUSES your way and you can toss back some answers. You can throw those back to where I am now, but I won't hold it against you if you wait until October 2014 to do it either.
So currently I'm finishing up MP2.1 in Compiler Construction and worrying about generally everything in Advanced Information Retrieval. Nothing makes sense anymore. I do hope you tried your best on the exam and the project. The timeline feels kinda rushed because I think I was supposed to have read all the research papers as of three days ago but no one has time for that. So Spring semester has already come and gone huh? Did you get some good AI classes and find a professor to do thesis research with? Do you have a thesis you've already started on? Were you able to continue being a TA for 225 with that awesome group of people? I have some ideas on where I'd like to do an internship this summer--did you manage to secure one? I hope everything's going well for you up there.
Play any good games lately? I have 17 PS3 platinum trophies right now and I could see you having 20 maybe. I'm playing through a few games that I like at the moment. I'd mention them but I don't want spoilers from other people and that happens every single time so I'll spare it.
For the vague portion of my post, you finally sent a certain e-mail last week after well over a year and it was rather well received. Anything cool ever come of that? It's doubtful for sure but I thought I'd ask because WHY NOT.
Last.FM plays: 96,711. 1,610 on Black Rose / Green Sun but I still really want that one Railgun S song really badly. I hope when it comes out the long version of it isn't crappy or unloopable!
Hey did you manage to do much with Crissaegrim in the past year? Here's the more-or-less latest screenshot from a few weeks ago: http://i.imgur.com/lAiWpzX.png It'd be cool to have some music and/or text and/or graphics and/or multiplayer at least. But I know you're busy with schoolwork so I'll give you a pass.
Any good drawings lately? There's a few I'd love to do but the talent's not there.
I'm also interested in if you stuck to Wanikani. So as of writing this you're Level 12 (with 0 burned items of course.) It's taught you 375 kanji and 896 vocabulary words in under four months and darn if that isn't just plain neat. You should probably be somewhere in the 40s if you stuck with it. Executive decision: If you haven't learned katakana yet because you're a doofus, spend the next couple weeks practicing that.
Hey so you take care of yourself okay? I assume you've done a lot of things in the past year I wouldn't even currently have considered, and I AM PROUD OF YOU FOR THAT IN ADVANCE. Also, paperclips. Also, good luck with your final year!

You can do it, man. It'll be the hardest thing you've done and probably will ever do (unless you somehow get into a phd program), making it also the biggest accomplishment you've ever had. So, this is the first time you've decided to actually do this. How's life going? Is RV even still around for this to be a thing? Still working at Big Lots? Right now it's getting to be a worse job every passing week. Boxes constantly falling on you during trucks, did that ever get fixed? Still living in the same place? Did you ever man the up and look into school instead of brushing aside everyone who tells you that you should? Are you still into FFXIV? Just started playing it roughly a week ago at time of typing this. How are the kids doing? Kyndall should be in kindergarten by now, Steven would be in like...5th grade, Sarah be in 1st, and Karson should be able to string together full sentences. How'd Manny's deal go? Just heard his girl's pregnant not long ago. How's your hand doing? Did the scars on the side ever fade? Get the settlement figured out?
If your life's still the exact same as mine, I'll invent a time machine and kick your ass, fatty.

All right let's just go down the list:
FAMILY: Currently your brother is still unable to drive because of his DUI. By the time you read this post, he should be back on his wheels. Dad will hopefully be in a goddamn nursing home in a month or two from the time of this post. Please tell me that that actually happened. You'll be moving into an apartment this coming December, with your friend Lucas. How is that going? Is that still a thing? If not, are you two still friends? Mom will either keep the house and rent some of the rooms, or sell it and buy a smaller house. Let me know how that goes.
WORK: How is work going? Hopefully they've given you a couple more raises by now. How is the work environment? You've basically become one of the big dogs in your department, so hopefully things are still going uphill. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you quit and found a job in a hospital. Remember, nursing is your future!
RUNEVILLAGE: Does it still exist Y/N?
SCHOOL: Slowly but surely, you're on your way to earning your BSN. By this time you should be in the College of Nursing, or at the very least you should have all the requirements done. Stay the course. Remember, the most important thing is to graduate with a degree that you will actually use.
CAR: Your driver-side mirror is hanging on its last threads. Yesterday the majority of its shell fell off. I hope you got that fixed instead of putting it off forever. I understand you're poor, but seriously, find the time and money to fix it.

Dude it got so bad. MP2.2 is still, to date, the only programming assignment I've never actually finished. I was waking up exceedingly nauseated every day for two weeks as the deadline loomed closer and closer. I finally made some last-minute breakthroughs and managed a C on the assignment and an A in the class, but DANG. Even one of the grad students that I thought was really smart and does research in compilers was like "screw this" and got a 0. I think it might've...just been too hard of an assignment?
Yeah very little in Advanced Information Retrieval made sense to anyone. You had a great team though and kicked but on the project, paper, and presentation. Good job.

22, actually! I played through some awesome game last summer. Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton came out so I thoroughly enjoyed that. Last summer we beat every TF2 MvM mission so that's cool too. Project Diva f 2nd and SSB4 Wii U come out in less than a month so I'm rather excited about those as well.

115,893, with 2,030 on Black Rose / Green Sun. And yeah, that song FINALLY came out! It's sitting at #11 on my list with nearly 500 plays, which is actually pretty good for an over 4-minute song.

I stuck with it for a long time, but I stopped around 3 months after this post. I got to the next part of the program and the workload essentially doubles, and I got buried. (It didn't help that I was doing it alongside Pyro and he stopped at level 10.) I do believe I stopped around level 19 with 126 Burned Kanji. Well, to disappoint my former self, I quit grad school. It wasn't for me, at least not at this point in my life.
For the first time in my life, I am caught in limbo and really do not give one single . Law school? MLS? Build a career in retail? Who the knows?

How's it going? At this time you are job searching. You went in for an interview with Coles at Moroolbark, and you thought it went well. How did that go? If that didn't work out, what about other jobs? Have you gone back to the gym yet? How goes the social circle? got a lady friend yet? How was your 21st? How was your brothers wedding? Not a lot else to say, so, good luck and so long!
Didn't get the job at Mooroolbark, but shortly after this, another store rang for an interview, I went and got the job! I have gone back to the gym, but not the same one. The gym we used to go to has no real interest in customers and thus you left that one for a much better one. The better one has better programs, a much better community and support as well. Nope! My 21st went well, had a few people over, nothing big, good night. My brother split up with his fiance shortly after this post was made. He's moved in to save a bit of money for when he moves back out again.

Still Kikori. Before starting this post, 11,251. I don't think anyone's surprised, though I'm a little bummed about it.
I'm pretty sure I remember the decision to add those to a bowl of Campbell's Chicken Noodle? It didn't turn out bad, just not great.
Thankfully, I'm not a terrible person. Warehouse work (seems to be like the only thing available here that doesn't involve a ton of driving), so I'm not borked. Not moved out yet. No SOLID plan on that, though a lot of tentative looking for this time and thinking of early next year. We got this, mang.
Obligatory laughing at my old games... sort of? TF2 still was a thing thanks to Jaron's RV-heavy play-every-mission thing. L4D2 fell off pretty hard. Golden Sun... eh, it's still fun but moved on. And due to getting a job, FFXIV did become a thing and is still a thing. No surprise about it being a fad to most people, though. A Classic Controller didn't fix it. Now we get to deal with lag that makes the pixel perfect movements possible on the SNES, impossible on the Wii.
Art still went. I don't think I've drawn or written another piece since then. Dan did come to me asking for a short story to help him flesh out character creation in it, but only once. The results are still a bit hazy to me. It's in the past. Funnily enough, a stripper almost helped.
What was it, only one week after saying "We'll all be impressed" that Hussie started his Gigapause? Mouth, meet foot. GGaR has found its balance, I think. It still happens, but certainly not every freakin other panel anymore. I have not, despite checking it--selling at 60 is both a rarity and my downfall. Freakin' five mil gone because I didn't wait. Have not, realistically won't. Am for now, it's leaking a tiny amount of oil after every run (though not when sitting still). No bumps or wrecks, though. Nikki's alright. Had to have a C-section to get the baby out, but he's a big boy. Her and Joe are good. Still topping it on Whatpulse--Simon's even made a point to bring it up, heh. Ratio's... hang on. 6.05 keystrokes per click. Which is still a lot better (by my standard) than a ton of the other guys there, heh. I don't write stories anymore, but damn, I still love to write. Sleep schedule's a fluxuating piece of . One single thing has to interrupt it every single night, without fail. It sucks. Breakfast these days is two or three donuts and a bit of cereal, though at about 8 a.m. We have work to thank for that. Cut, no, trimmed, probably soon. It's collecting; one of mom's quilting group ladies' son collects 'em, so whee, outlet. Delivered, and it was like the best experience ever. I did take time to read everyone else's, haven't waited on them to answer. (Answered a few of them mentally myself, though, heh.) I forget what it was at the time of making the post, but probably not. Yeah... Yeah, he has changed. Sigh. The shift in friends really isn't that great, to be honest.
All is pretty well, and enough of it's on my head that I'm proud of that. 'Til next time.
P.S. For what it's worth, before finishing this sentence, I have 597,772 keys and 36,868 clicks built up. That's a LOT closer to the 10:1 we try to keep, heh.

All right let's just go down the list:
Please watch your language, this is a family-friendly board.

Brother is driving again, which means I'm saving on gas. Dad is in a nursing home, so yay? Mom left the house as well and moved into an apartment, and in a couple weeks she's actually moving to Baghdad to work for the parliament. Didn't see that one coming, did you?
Yes, I'm still living with my roommate. We had to move to another apartment because the old one found out about my cats, and also my roommate wanted to get a dog, so now we're in a pet-friendly apartment. It's not as great as the old one, but oh well.

Two raises since the time of this post, and another big raise due in the next few weeks because I'm getting promoted to full-time. School is still a thing, but given the current circumstances I must regrettably admit that making money is currently more important to me than school, because the rent is too damn high. I took a semester off, but I'm going back this spring as a part-time student. Life is fun.

RUNEVILLAGE: Does it still exist Y/N?
No. What we have now is a haven for the remaining community, and any veterans who might be interested in checking in. RuneVillage died sometime between 2009 and 2013, depending on who you ask. I wish I would have realized this sooner. I wasted so much time working on this site, giving it significantly more than it was returning to me. For a while, RuneVillage was sadly one of the most important things in my life. I don't regret the friendships I made, or being a part of its community, but looking back I kind of wish I was never a part of the RV Staff. I feel like I might have enjoyed myself more both here and in real life if I didn't let myself get so caught up in all the work and bureaucracy that came with the territory.

SCHOOL: Slowly but surely, you're on your way to earning your BSN. By this time you should be in the College of Nursing, or at the very least you should have all the requirements done. Stay the course. Remember, the most important thing is to graduate with a degree that you will actually use.
Pre-reqs are done, but as I said before I took a semester off and I'll be going back as a part-time student. Slowly but surely, indeed.

CAR: Your driver-side mirror is hanging on its last threads. Yesterday the majority of its shell fell off. I hope you got that fixed instead of putting it off forever. I understand you're poor, but seriously, find the time and money to fix it.
LOL HAS IT SERIOUSLY BEEN A YEAR? Nah dawg, I haven't fixed that mirror. But it's okay, since my mom is giving me her 2010 Nissan Rogue in two weeks. I'll probably sell my car to a co-worker.
