How long did it take you? I've finished 4 years, but due to a lot of reasons, i'm looking at 2 more years before i'm done with my B.A. I feel like the average time now is longer than 4 years for a 4 year degree.

I'm graduating in less than a month, after what was technically 5 years. I drew it out for an internship though, and my first year was just pissing around in community college during high school. I also took my time with classes, only taking 2-3 per quarter, because my grades were suffering. And I took way more electives than I needed to since my school doesn't have the program I'm really interested in.

So... I guess I did in five years what I should've done in three. Don't regret any of it though, because I'm pretty sure those decisions put me ahead of the other burger-flippers/psych majors.

It took me four years, but every semester was packed with classes because there were just so many requirements. I have a couple of friends who changed majors partway through and it took them 5-7 years, but if you stick to one field of study and don't hit any personal roadblocks I think you're still often only looking at 4.

I'm getting a Master's degree starting this Fall and that shouldn't be more than 2.

Undergraduate degrees in the UK are a standard 3 years without a placement year. Otherwise they'll be four (with the exception of medicine and architecture which are 5-7). Masters degrees are only a year here, as well.

We specialise much earlier than in the US and other countries so have shorter degrees, for instance I haven't studied a topic that wasn't politics/history related since I was 18 (I'm 22 now)

I'm from the US and I finished in 4. Though I took classes during two of my three summers there. I could have finished without doing this, it only made my regular semester workload easier.

As Jaron said, stick with your field and you shouldn't have any problems. Also, DO YOUR REQUIRED COURSES EARLY ON. Or as early as possible. I know people who have been in school for 5-6 years because they were waiting on a few lower level classes, because they did not take them when they had the chance.

Waiting for classes was what i did in my first year, which slowed me down. Good advice for everyone to follow. If you can't get in one class, choose another required class. As for the mean time of how long it takes for most to graduate, i also think there are personal reasons. Don't know the data on time spent for recent years vs decades ago

Yeah, that's technically what's holding me up. I transferred to university without finishing my associates degree, and just knocked out the last class for it last quarter. Figured I'd graduate with my AA and bachelor's in the same quarter.

TURNS OUT THAT'S ILLEGAL IN WASHINGTON STATE :awesome: Graduating with my AA this quarter, participating in commencement in two weeks, and getting my diploma mailed to me in August.

It took me four years and one quarter to graduate with a Engineering -- Computer Science degree from UC Davis. My counselor messed up my schedule, which led me to take one more quarter.

Depending on the major, units can vary widely. Psychology degrees at Davis, for example, require 85 units or so. ECS (my major) requires 185. Quite a difference. Certainly, psychology requires more GEs, but it still is a cakewalk (and often a double major).

If I don't get kicked off my course by next year, then I'll have been at uni for 3 years studying Computer and Video Games.

This is great advice as well. My program of study required 132 credit hours, or equivalent to about four years (8 semesters) of 16 credits. I have a friend, for example, who is an accounting major, and his degree is 150some credits for the accredited accounting degree. So it does vary widely from program to program.

I started doing a B.Math & B.Science combined in 2009.

Changed to B. Math & B.Teaching in 2010.

Changed again to just B.Math in 2010 which I finished at the end of 2012.

The first two were 4 year programs and the lone B.Math program was 3 years.

But yeah, after 4 years of Uni I ended up with a B.Math degree.

150 is a lot. I thought degrees like engineering which has classes that have a lot of units would be around that much. Also, what did you major in that was 132 semester units?

His is 155 or something, I think. That's the accredited accounting degree, with a CPA from the school of business (certified public accountant). Standard time for that is five years. Four if you're insane.

I majored in English, a standard four-year program.

That fifth year is probably a masters degree. Thats how it works here. And the CPA doesnt come from the school itself but from the licensing body. It does require a certain amount of credits to get though, along with passing the CPA exam, and experience working under a CPA.

It took me 3.5 years to get my B.Sc. in biochemistry, but I'll be staying at the uni for several years since I'm currently in the middle of my masters and might go for PhD.

I'm sure you're right. I am no expert in the accounting field. Either way, it was a long degree that transferred over to the college of business after three years(?).

One other question i want to ask is how important is a minor? I was thinking of having a economics minor with social and behavioral sciences as a major. I do have some interest and think it's a better minor than another social science.
