NOTICE: I took about a two-month break on these shortly after opening this stall due to the Hiker/Jagex shenanigans, and also because we're not specifically a RS fansite anymore. However I'm bored again and would like to do some more of these. Feel free to request ANY type of character - Minecraft-based, WoW-based, just a sprite version of your IRL self - Whatever you want. Please include reference pictures with your requests though, and try to keep them low in filesize since I'm on dial-up.
Reminder: Please don't request a sig character if you don't plan to use it for a while. These can be a bit of a pain to make and, while I do enjoy making them, I'd like to know that my efforts aren't being wasted. Thank you.
Most of you have probably noticed the little RuneScape characters in some villager's signatures. Most of you probably also know that I've been the one making them.
About nine months ago, when Legends' decided on a RuneScape themed month (ironic considering we're a RuneScape fansite), and I made a little signature character wearing full Bandos for the occasion. I offered making a few to some friends (Kikori/Jaron/Jackstick/Pyro) and suddenly I had a million requests coming in from other villagers who wanted one.
Real life drawing me away from the Village a lot more than usual this past year, I haven't been able to fill every order, and the ones I have done came on the basis of "better late than never". But I now find myself with a lull in life events, and decided I'd shift this offer to the public rather than confining it to the Legends' forum while I have some free time.
That being said, if you've been wanting one of these cute little characters, now's your chance. Note that I can't promise you'll get one, at least not within a day or two of the request. It's going to depend on my free time/motivation/number of requests/difficulty of your request. This is not "first come first serve" either, as I choose which ones to do based on the above criteria. What I Need From You:If you would like a signature character, I ask that you post the following things;- Screenshot of your RuneScape character
Best if it's a picture of your equipment screen with the outfit you want. I'm familiar with most every item in the Scape world, but if you're wielding something with a lot of detail, I ask that you give me both a frontal view and side view of your character so that I can be as accurate as possible. This is especially true for default clothing.
If you want your signature character to be wearing something that you don't actually have in-game, I ask that you find me a picture of the item somewhere. (RS Wiki is a good resource for this.)
If you would like a hair style not available in the Scape world, please provide me a picture of the hair style you would like your character to have.
*If your request isn't RuneScape related, just provide me with reference pictures of what you want.Although you can't really see the tiny little pupils on these characters, they're definitely there, and I need to know which color you'd like them to be. It can be any color of the rainbow (and, y'know, all the other colors that exist), just tell me what you want. Most of the current characters I've made use the same standing poses, as I've been using pre-made templates. Choosing one of these poses means that I can create your character faster than if I have to start from scratch. If you'd like one of the existing poses, just tell me "Make it like Jaron's", "Make it like Henner's", etc.
You can request a custom pose (an example of this can be seen with Marik's), but, as I said, this will take me longer to make. What that means for you is that I'm liable to put off your request in favor of easier/faster requests.
If you request a custom pose, please provide me with a reference picture to help me understand what you're asking for.If you're wielding a weapon and/or shield, please specify if you want your character to be left-handed (Examples: Goten's, Rocky's), or right handed (Example: Henner's, The Animal's).
You can also request how you want to be holding your weapon/shield (at your side, propped on your shoulder, etc), and/or how you want your arms to be positioned (at ease/outstretched/whatever). If you want it to be the same as your screenshot, just say so. If you request something I haven't done yet, please be as descriptive as possible, and provide me with a reference picture if you can.Tell me if you'd like your character facing left, facing right, standing straight towards the screen, or whatever. All the ones I've done so far have been facing left so I guess that's the preference, but I can change it up if you want me to. Frequently Asked Questions:Q: What programs do you use to make these?
»A: I do the main bulk of work with my trusty friend MS Paint, switching over to Photoshop for things that require a bit more detail. I do the transparency in Photoplus.Q: How long do these take you to make?
»A: It really depends on a few factors. First off, if a request involves items I've previously used on other characters, or something I can recolor, then that shaves off a good portion of time. Using templates takes much less time than creating new poses from scratch, as well. The detail involved with the items is also a huge factor. Bare facts, simple ones take me 1-3 hours, while the harder ones can take me upwards of 6 hours. This doesn't count the many breaks I take in-between though, so you can give or take an hour.
Yes, I am a slow drawer.Q: Can I pay you for one of these?
»A: This has been asked a few times. First off, I can't accept any items/gold/whatever in RuneScape in exchange for artwork. Jagex's RWT policy labels this as breaking the rules, and I'm rather fond of not being banned. Plus I don't even really play RS anymore.
As far as other forms of payment, if you'd really like to reimburse me for time+effort, I won't say no to . My policy on this has always been "Just give me what you think is fair" - If you'd like to toss a bit of USD into my paypal account, PM me and we'll talk about it. I won't require or even ask for someone to pay for a signature character though; This has always been a project to bring some personality to the forums, and I won't exclude anyone from that.
*I should note that I will be far more likely to complete a piece of artwork within 24 hours if you're paying me to do it, and far less likely to just copy/paste things from previously made characters. I don't mean this as an incentive or anything, just stating a fact - I feel obligated to put my best effort into projects that people are willing to compensate me for, and to do it in a timely manner.Q: How do I get my sig character to align to the right on the same line as something I have aligned to the center?
»A: It's not actually an align code, it's a "float" code;[float=right][/float] This will allow your sig character to appear on the right side of your signature while keeping your other stuff centered using the code.
