I'm sure I'm not the only one that's seen or heard a hint of what's happened.

Numerous dead in Newton CT. The shooter killed himself after shooting numerous people. The death count rests at 20 children (elementary school) and 6 adults (supposedly including his own mother and father).

Gawker (concerning a supposed identity) wrote:
From Gawker:

Police haven't officially announced the name of their suspect, but according to NBC three different law enforcement sources have confirmed "Ryan Lanza" as the suspect. Which leaves us with a few, equally weird options: that police (or the media) have the wrong guy as a suspect; that there are two Ryan Lanzas, of the same age, splitting time between Connecticut and New Jersey; or that this is the right Ryan Lanza, and someone is perpetrating an elaborate, and very morbid, hoax. Until we figure out which one is right, let's stop sharing the guy's profile and ID'ing it as the killer.

Update: Jersey Journal staff writer Brett Wilshe apparently spoke to this Lanza, who says that the real shooter may have taken his ID. Rob Bajor, a Facebook friend of Lanza's, writes (in a post he deleted after it was overrun with angry comments) "Please listen to me. The Ryan in this picture is alive and well and on his way home right now to grieve with the members of his hometown. The perpetrator of the crime is confirmed dead. Please check the facts before drawing conclusions. This is a serious misstep by the media."

And the reporters are heartless enough to actually interview little kids.

(Apologies if I've got a few facts mixed up.)

I hate people sometimes.

One of the few reasons i like living out in the middle of the boondocks. You almost never see this stuff happen.

But honestly.. why do this? Especially now, during the holiday season? Who knows, maybe the world is going to end. I dunno..

Guns don't kill people... they just make it that much easier for nutjobs like this to slaughter children.

This is quite a shame.
It angers me that someone thinks they can do this.

This is just sickening, really. I hope this finally gets to people to enforce stricter gun laws.

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

Several of the school's children were moved to the local fire station for protection, and were later reunited with their parents. At the end, the remaining parents who couldn't find their children in the school or at the fire station were told that that was it, "There will be no more reunions."

I can't begin to imagine the crippling anxiety they had to go through, only to be thoroughly crushed at the end.

Way to take his comment out of context. There's a difference between being religious and a religious nut job.

No, I dont think I did. Implying that Jesus is the answer to stopping tragedies like this is a major insult to non-Christians, and completely off-base.

Nice. Almost went a whole half page before descending into an argument over politics/religion.

Anyway, I'm just getting tired of this Fuzzy Bunny.

The only thing we're really missing is growing controversy about gun control issues.

I do not wish this thread to be about religion at all, primarily because a lack/an overdose of religion has NOTHING to do with this event whatsoever.

However AB's comment was completely inappropriate/irrelevant/absurd (for several reasons) and it wasn't going to be ignored.

That is :bunny: up..... Making the parents wait then to be either happily reunited or devastatingly crushed... right before the holidays.

It's depressing, so close to the holidays.

Think about this: We have the right to go out to a store and purchase almost any kind of firearm and ammunition without requiring a license. We can, completely unlicensed, carry firearms with us in vehicles. You see, in legal terms, a license is permission to do something that you do not have a right to do, permission to break the law. It's illegal for you to own a shotgun, but you can become licensed to have limited access to certain kinds of shotguns. In fact, to use anything but an air-gun you need a firearms certificate.

I'm not defending him. No one would do that, but his actions and his consequences are his own.

Taken out of context indeed. The immorality of this event could be avoided if someone had just taken time to notice a change in the persons behavior, recent or long term. I have to sit through all the suicide and high risk soldier briefings every Quarter. It's annoying and irritates me when people do things like this. But on the comment I stated earlier, with a strong religious alignment you would have a set of standards and morals that is generally acceptable to modern society and you could seek help if you felt homicidal. I know I leave my problems at the alter therefore I'm always happy everyday.
