Hey everyone,

The fiancee and I will be traveling in Europe in May for Choir and going to Italy. We had the option to extend the trip, and she and I choose to do that. We'd like to go to the UK, and visit the big ones, London, Dublin, somewhere in Scotland. What I need from you guys is cheap (but nice) hotels to stay in, how to travel while there, etc. Pretty much where we should go and what we should see, where to stay, must sees, must avoids, etc.

somewhere in scotland: i have no clue for hotels. when i went there with the girlfriend and her mom, we stayed with their family.

as for attractions, Edinburgh is going to be suggested to you lots. dont go there just for the castle. its actually a big let down.
if you do end up in there, i would start with an open bus tour. the guide will give you a quick bit of information about what you are passing by. then whatever you interested in, go back there and visit for a while.

Definitely go to Belgium and sample their chocolate/waffles!

You'll never be happy with the chocolate/waffles here in America until you've tried the Belgian kind! :)

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

Hotels in the UK. Ibis hotels are cheap and they have just been upgraded. I stayed in them a few times there usually very nice for the price

Oh man Jan, you just got zinged by Riptide. How much does THAT suck?

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

Premier Inn or Travel Lodge.. They have rooms for £19/£8 per night if you book ahead sometimes. Premier Inn beds are pretty comfy and they're presented as a decent hotel and usually very clean. Plus 300+ locations in the UK, can't get fairer than that over here.
