What am I looking at...

It takes me to a British news site and nothing I see relates to anything called a Diamond Jubilee. :?:

Most pubs near me are already open till 1am...And there are far too many chavs who go to pubs where I live. I much prefer bars.

This has about as much impact on my life as that wedding... last year? Where... Which prince was that, anyway?

Right, maybe now is a good time to point out that not everyone in the UK is obsessed with our royalty...

I went to Wikipedia to see exactly what a Diamond Jubilee is. I guess that sounds good for the Queen.

Like the atheist who will spend his time telling you how much God doesn't influence his life in any way, you anti-royalists spend all your time telling people how much the royals don't effect your lives. Cool story bro. Don't reply if you don't care.

You don't care about what happens in the Royal families lives?

And neither do i, or anyone that i've ever met.

In fairness I don't think you know that many people.

Eadwulf - If you don't care about the royals, why are you wasting your time making comments about how little you care about it? When I don't care about something, that's what I do.

Right, I never said I didn't give a damn about any of this. I said, quite literally, that these things have little impact on my life. I simply don't happen to keep up with this kind of thing, and I am on a schedule/professional life that's pretty much oblivious to bank holidays. I'm also just Fuzzy Bunny at current events; I actually did have to look up the royal wedding just to remember when it was, although that was mostly because I could only remember the names of Charles and Harry... Here's a case in point: this thread was the first thing I'd heard about the diamond jubilee in a couple of months at the time.

I also said that not everyone is obsessed with the royal family. This is true. I know it may be difficult to believe, with how the media loves to elevate this kind of thing to tremendous proportions to the point where you'd think that absolutely every man, woman, and child in the country gives a standing ovation, in unison and without pause, whenever they do something official, but this is not the case. For the most part, the man in the street will have the odd chat about it, maybe watch the news coverage, but for the most part just enjoy the bank holiday like a normal human being. Frankly, over the last several years I've begun to have the impression that people in foreign countries make a bigger fuss over the crown than we do...

As for the anti-royalist comment... I find that extremely perplexing. I don't understand how the hell anyone, even in the pursuit of idiotic trolling tactics, could get ultra right-wing political extremism out of anything I said in two lines of text. Do I honestly seem like the kind of person picketing the Long Walk with some crudely fashioned sign? And just what the hell does atheism have to do with anything?! It's totally irrelevant; why would you even bring it up?!

Look boy, if you don't like me, just say it. You don't need to come up with some outlandish, distorted straw man argument to attempt to take some kind of warped moral high ground where there is none to take. Or here's a better suggestion: be an adult and don't try to pick petty fights with people who have done nothing wrong.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm ill, I have a fever, and I need to go back to bed.

I care about the monarchy :-s.

That only works if I went around telling people on every imaginable topic about how little I cared for it. I don't.
