Can you kids do it? I didn't think it was anything special (having been able to do it as far back as I can remember) until I was talking to a friend a few years ago and he said he couldn't, so I looked it up. I'm to the point now to where I usually realize I'm dreaming toward the beginning of my dreams every night. I think, "holy crap. I'm dreaming", then I'm free to do as I please. I fly....often, visit other countries (or what my brain projects other countries to look like), and go on adventures among other stuff. Do you guys have lucid dreams? Discuss.

I think I've had a lucid dream once, maybe twice in my life

Usually I don't even remember my dreams though

I once tried to train myself to have lucid dreams, but I gave up pretty quickly as it was too bothersome

I've been able to do this for as long as I can remember, as well as be able to wake myself up. I have quite a bit of information on lucid dreaming if anyone's interested.

tru

:33 < i used to have these dreams very often. they were fun to recall and document and talk about, as well as try to remember what all in them i could control or did control compared to what was normal

:33 < the weirdest thing of it for me was how often it s33med that my dream ended in some climactic point in the dream. like i never woke up in the middle of a conversation or right befur taking a step, but always like when something in the dream would be physically shocking or actually serve as an alarm. i remember my parents metal workshop sounds being played out in my dream actual environmental stuff and so on :33

:33 < it doesnt really happen anymore though, maybe once a month if im lucky

Sometimes I dream but not usually anymore now that im getting older, my mind can think of really strange things but I don't recall myself knowing that im dreaming.

Dreams are wierd sometimes I dream something that happens in the future and it does happen.

Very strange.

THEN YOU LIE IN BED NOT ABLE TO FALL BACK ASLEEP.

But you feel like such a champ for getting out of that dream.

I don't think I've ever experienced one. I've been able control my movement in dreams, but actually being aware that I'm dreaming just doesn't seem possible to me.

One time, for whatever reason, I was Harry Potter and could fly by pulling my earlobes down. At the time, though, I accepted it as reality and didn't question any of it, which is what I always do.

This.

And this. I have epic amounts of Deja Vu. Like on a daily basis, really strong deja vu, and sometimes I can recall that it's from dreams. Specific things too, like exact wording in a conversation.

But I can't say I've ever recalled actually having a lucid dream. God, that would be awesome. My dreams are always really awful, they usually involve me running or trying to fight someone and my movements are always in super slow-motion. :(

I used to be able to back in middle school, but then I quit for some reason. I've been able to become lucid through reality checks a few times, but not much recently.

I read an interview with one of the game designers at Bethesda awhile back where he said lucid dreams were how he makes games. He said he had severe writers block when he was awake, but then he would just dream and design levels and whatnot. Cool stuff.

I rarely have lucid dreams (I'd say about 5-10 times a year at most), but when I do I *always* wake up from them in the middle of the night with sleep paralysis. It can take a few seconds to a few minutes for me to be able to move any part of my body, even though I'm awake. Most of the time I don't even know what position I'm in, so sometimes I'll try to lift my arm up into the air thinking that I'm sleeping on my back, but I'm actually just pushing it into the mattress because I'm sleeping on my front. Being unable to rotate my head kind of freaks me out the most. Doesn't help that it's pitch black, my body feels like it weighs a ton, and I've still got some dream-residue in my brain. Kind of sounds cool, but it makes me feel awfully claustrophobic... and it's no fun waking up from a horrible dream and being completely unable to move for a solid 2 minutes. In the end of every one of these dreams I've had that I can recall, I always fall down slowly, it's like falling down in water. And then the sleep paralysis kicks in. I don't know if it's fair to call these 'lucid dreams' seeing as I don't have total control over them for as long as some of you have said, because as soon as I become aware I end up doing something stupid to ruin the fun or panic my way out. I can look around and take it all in, but if I try to fly or walk through walls then I'll succeed and then something will happen right after that to phase me out of the dream. Usually something strange or panic-inducing, like losing control of my arms.

Sleep paralysis is terrible, isn't it?

Luckily I haven't had it in years, but I remember waking up and not being able to move, I could wiggle around a little bit and I used that to build up a little momentum and roll myself over eventually to snap me out of it, but I could barely breathe during the whole thing (not because I couldn't expand my lungs or anything, but whenever it feels like my arms are constricted, especially when they're next to my body, I just get really claustrophobic or something of the sort)

Insane Jackstick. I've never experienced sleep paralysis, but I've read about it. I usually try and prolong a dream for as long as I can, and don't wake up mid-dream.

Fascinating errybody. For real.

I've had lucid dreams, usually involving me on some sort of fantasy epic adventure.
Though, I've only experienced sleep paralysis only once or twice in my life.
Strange thing about my dreams: I can remember them for about 10 minutes after I wake up, and sometimes I write them down, but after the 10 minutes or so, I can't picture the dreams in my head, even if I DID write them down.

That's not strange, that's normal.

Anyway, keep writing your dreams down. That's one trick to making it happen more often. Not sure why, but it is.

Yes, another one is to make a habit out of checking whether you're dreaming or not, eventually it will carry over into your dreams, where you will find you are indeed dreaming

Sometimes I have really silly thoughts if I'm thinking a lot while trying to fall asleep. I'll start with something normal like "I hope I do well on that exam tomorrow" and a few mins later I'll think of some nonsense like "Why do apples run sideways?"
