Hello again everyone. I recently purchased a new 500GB Seagate USB Powered External Hard Drive to use as portable storage as well as a second back-up location for my school files. However I have encountered an issue. I formatted the drive on my PC, but the computers we use in most of my classes are MACs. Every PC I plug into recognizes and allows me to add to the Drive, while every MAC I have tried only allows me to view the files on the drive already.

I assume this is because I formatted it on my PC, but would anyone know of a way I could get it working on both platforms?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

You have it formatted as NTFS. NTFS is windows File System that can be read on a mac but not written to. Your best bet would be to format your Hard drive as exFAT which allows read/write on both windows and OS X. I wouldn't recommend FAT32 as it has a 4GB transfer limit.

if your not going to have any files bigger than 4 GB dont worry

Either way, exFAT is still much more modern, and if you can use exFAT, i would reccomend it.

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.
